-tights with fur/fleece on the inside and then a second, dark pair on top to make it seamless

As for myself, an older women, I've also found your knowledge to be helpful. I do love quirky patterns and certain colors, but as I matured and wasn't as long and lean (5ft. 11", but not 120lb any longer), my inclination to go towards bubble gum pink and checked scarfs diminished. 😆 I'm definitely a more refined Classic at this place and time. ❣️

Dear Ellie, Jreally like your approach!. I read Kibbes book back in the 80s as a young 23 yr old mom. I couldn't afford to buy it. I would push my baby in a stroller a 30 minute walk to the book store to read it. I actually bought a copy at a thrift store for a few bucks 15 years ago. Kibbe is way bigger today than it ever was in the 80s and it's fun to see all the modern expansion.
The one thing I'd be very interested in is translating Kibbe types and modern fashion for women over 50. Most over 50 online stylists use the fruit shape styling if they use anything and stuck to classic styling. I prefer a more individual look. I'm lucky that most people guess me Stull in my 40s although I'll be turning 60 soon and don't have a perfect figure anymore after 7 awesome children. This is very useful in being able to work with people the age of my oldest kids. I discovered many adults I work with shied away from me when they discovered that I could be their parents. So I don't want to be in a style rut.
Pretty sure I'm Romantic in Kibbe. I have been a closet lover of fashion all my life and used to sew a lot of my clothes.

I think it seems to be very difficult to discern what your “dominant” characteristic is, how do people determine this? I also read the size of your bust doesn’t determine what body Is you have? How is that possible ??

Kind of disagree with the romantic options if we look to marilyn as the romantic example you can see she wore long coats and furs but had her ankles/legs and wrists showing or had the coat worn open. While cropping can look good I think a longer line with a long coat can look better. Tailoring and fabric choices play a big role too soft light and well tailored at the shoulder point will make an oversized style like swing coats look better, princess coats follow the natural curve and belted coats are also always an option, especially the puffer style. also consider how the length plays in with the length of the pants or skirt generally it looks better I the coat is longer or the same length as under clothing but this can be difficult with pants so monochrome is good option to go. Always remember that style is less important than warmth if you are going to be outside for long periods of time. Invest in wools like merino, cashmere, mohair for warmth and don't forget the thermal layer

  • @o.k3841
    @o.k3841 Год назад +1

Eh, as an FN, I say this is just the generic 'Hide your body with oversized, shapeless potato sacks' again. It would be much better phrased, if you considered the details as well. Emphasizing vertical with colors,, loosely draped, luxurious fabrics, like silk shirts with v-neck cashmere sweaters, miniskirts with the same coloured tights, off the shoulder midi dresses, sweater dresses with OTK boots, overalls, knitted two piece sets, wool suit sets, etc. Layering has so many meanings, the pictures just show a very specific example, that's mostly for fashion editorials - like, who wears open coats in an actual winter climate😅
Also, it would be great, if we considered real-life as well: There are 3 basic occasions we dress for: office/work/school, errands/free time, party/special occasions/dating. Wearing a ton of oversized sweaters might be good for loungewear, but most people do not look for style advice there, just throw on whatever's comfy.

Tbh I think when most people hear “fur” they’re realistically thinking of faux fur (at least in the US where I am.) Plenty of her pictures were absolutely faux fur as well. You have to try pretty hard to find actual fur on clothing these days unless you’re specifically looking for it and even if you do it’s guaranteed to be the more expensive option.
I do have a few vintage pieces with fur from my great-grandmother that I am trying to figure out how to style. I think using these pieces is a better way to honor both our planet and the (long-dead) animals they came from than throwing them away and creating more waste buying something new that won’t be nearly as warm or beautiful.

I find these lines for the kibbie body types videos a little annoying because judging by them i fit best in the reccomended lines for TR but by the kibbie rules i could only be SG and although i strongly relate to what you say about TR , judging by the lines recommended on this video i dont fit in any i.d lines at all. These kind of videos confuse me and make me second guess my kibbie i.d 🫣😬 boxy items are akways recommended for all gamines yet they leave me looking shapeless , shorter , wider and rectangular. My torso completely gets lost in boxy jackets and my hips join the width of the jacket making me look rectangular and wide this making me look shorter 🤦‍♀️ boxy crop tops/hoodies in thin fabric are better but decreases my curve and still has a shortening and squarish effect. The goal of kibbie is to reflect your own body, i get there are gamines with boxy shoulders but there are also gamines that don't have boxy shoulders and curve(s).

@@Kira_Martel I'm curious whether there has been much research on how pregnancy affects the body style and lines. I'm not sure if body types determine this, but I know not everyone carries pregnancy the same way. Some people carry very forward (think 'cant tell they are pregnant from behind') and others carry more balanced around. Some people gain a lot of boob. AND it's constantly changing.

@@hollylockhart9423 I know taller women (especially with longer torsos) tend not to show as much because they just have more space to accommodate the growing uterus!
I think when someone is pregnant they would be going for comfort, weather and embracing their love of certain colors and accessories to stay “them” while their body is changing.

As a TR, what helped me a lot when I lived in the north was thermo clothes (I dont know what they're called in english). Long sleeves shirt and leggings and socks made of thin and very warm fabric that you were as a first layer, then you can wear any sort of tight outfit, you won't be cold ! Just make sure to tuck your shirt and socks and cover your neck or/and ears

I'm a soft dramatic, and my favorite winter layer is this big, stiff, wool coat that my sister used to use for her Sherlock cosplay. It definitely leans into the dramatic elements of my figure, and I feel so imposing and cool. Some other favorites are a thin turtleneck that I use as an inner layer, and a long, fine, cashmere open cardigan that I just got recently and it's a lot warmer than it looks.

I find myself between soft natural, soft classic and romantic style. I am a pear so oversized anything without belt at my waist is a no-no, I also like neutral tones, little to no patterns and anything that adds up to my upper part of my body like baloon/puffed sleeves, frills with tight pencil or mid A skirt is my go to outfit.
Edit: thanks guys, this is just an observation, I am not trying to be perfect :) I dress according to shape because I want to flatter my figure, style is another think that is not as important for me but good to know which one suits me best :)

    • @MyselfStrange

You are combining kibbe body types, Kitchener essences, and the fruit system into one which makes it harder to pinpoint your exact 'needs'. Kibbe identifies people as one specific body type (soft classic, dramatic, romantic or co). The fruit system bases it's assessment differently, so these theories probably work against each other rather than together (I'm no expert so I'm echoing what if heard from others on this). Kitchener believes in essences (romantic, natural, ingenue, and co). Everyone is made up of a mixture of those, resulting in different 'auras'. The essences are most prominently focused on your face rather than your body (80 to 20 split). I hope this helps :)

I'm theatrical romantic and my winter coat is a red wool coat that falls around my knees with black fur trim around the bottom, cuffs, and neck, a corset back (with black string), and oversized hood and a detachable short cape that can drape over the shoulders when it's really cold. Very modern victorian. Only downfall is it doesn't have pockets haha.
I have a fancier dark green brocade one with fur at the bottom, cuffs, and lapels, but I don't wear it often because A) I'm from a very cold area and it's got an open v neck and no hood, and B) I'm 5'2 and it was made for someone a few inches taller than me, so it drags in the snow haha.

Just wear what you like. This are suggestions, not a must. Being on romantic side is absolutely not practical for low temperatures so better stay healthy than "looking good". Outfits she recommended are for autmn where I am, so I'd favour being warm over how I look any time. Also, mom jeans are kinda harem pants shaped so maybe try them if they are something that works with your style better

Two reasons- it’s completely unethical and I live in the southern US where it was 70 degree F ( 21 C) today. Our weather is erratic and it does get below freezing with the occasional snow- although I live at the coast and we get less that even an hour or two inland. BUT! When the flurries happen I love to enjoy them.
