Don't put solder paste on first and melt it. The paste allready contains flux. Just put a string on the pads, align the pins and solder it once. That way you minimize the heat needed and put less strain on the board. Been repairing electronics professionally for 20 years.
He/she is correct. Solder paste does in fact already have flux incorporated into it and requires a lot less heat to melt than already melted paste. Once the paste becomes a proper solid it takes quite a bit more heat and time to make it liquid again. I operate a samsung SMT machine for a living and am confirming the statement this person made. @rolex712

Pasas la maya de cobre para desoldar mojada en un poco de flux o pasta de soldar para limpiar el estaño anterior. Después aplicas estaño en pasta que funde a 180 grados le das con la punta del soldador siempre en la dirección de las pistas. Vuelves a aplicar pasta de soldar calientas y dejas caer el conector encima. Después repasas la soldadura . Siempre con pasta de soldar. Luego limpias con limpiador de contactos y un cepillo de dientes y listo
It’s called kapton tape. It’s not thermally conductive and won’t melt and you’ll often find it on boards where heat can become a problem for surrounding components. I’ve also seen it surrounding lithium battery terminals and charge protection board, I’m guessing for electrical insulation. Given its properties I bet it could be used as a quick solder mask. Need to replace one tiny smd component but aren’t yet comfortable working with hot air or solder so close to the other nearby components, cut a tiny hole just big enough for the smd and board traces to be visible. Now with that being said I’ve only ever done light soldering on projects or personal electronics over the years so sorry if I’m wrong about any of that.

Можно также заклеивать мелкие компоненты, которые может "сдуть" при пайке феном. Не то, чтобы пластик прям совсем не нагревался, но скотч помогает снизить температуру нагрева, тем самым пластик не плавится.

Después aplicas estaño en pasta que funde a 180 grados le das con la punta del soldador siempre en la dirección de las pistas. Vuelves a aplicar pasta de soldar calientas y dejas caer el conector encima. Después repasas la soldadura . Siempre con pasta de soldar. Luego limpias con limpiador de contactos y un cepillo de dientes y listo
