The early Christian view seems to be the most logical, straight forward and biblicaly consistent understanding of what Jesus said. Any other interpretation requires a lot verbal gymnastics to explain. It just makes sense as the early Christians were closer to the source of the revelation of the information. Jesus tells what to do to be free and produce fruit, to have peace, joy, love etc in our life. Our sinful nature convinces us that the things of the world and flesh will make us happy, but this is a delusion. Fear stops us from following what Jesus says, but if we begin to put into action what Jesus says, we begin to see that He is right! We don't have to get it perfect straight away, but if we step out in faith just a little at time in the right direction to follow what Jesus says, Jesus is merciful and full of grace to help us grow.

would you agree that the issues raised, come from the Reformation Church.....and that they were not that reformed as much as a knee jerk reaction to the RCC....
Hi Philip, The Reformation definitely contributed to this issue and while addressing some legitimate issues actually caused new problems. However, in part 2 (which I am working on now and will look at the Medieval Church) we will discuss the role that the Roman emperors who started going to church played in weakening the Biblical position beginning in the 4th centuries and how these leaders actually had an influence on the Reformers on this issue. Thanks for watching and giving me feedback!
The difference between the early church and the modern church is the modern church is apostate. The Apostle Paul warned about this in 2 Thessalonians 2:3, when he said there would be a "falling away" of the church in the last days.

@@philarevolutionarywarriorp8295 Amen brother! Have been gaining some real good knowledge about 1 Corinthians 7:10-11, in recent days. Will be sharing it here when I get it all written out. This affirms the permanence of the one-flesh covenant.
What Christian writers in the 4th Century taught something different about divorce and remarriage than what the early church taught? The Catholic Church’s teaching on divorce and remarriage is exactly what the early Christians taught. Very good well put together video. When you talk about the Romans and the Roman Empire, you’re talking about the Roman Catholic Church. The Roman people were pagans and the Roman Catholics were Christians. You mentioned Ignatius of Antioch. In 110 AD, Ignatius wrote a letter to the Church in Smyrna. In that letter Ignatius calls the church Catholic, which means Universal.
@@OneSpiritOneBody, not true. I have quotes from the early Christians calling the church Catholic before Constantine was even born. Ignatius of Antioch
Ignatius of Antioch was the 3rd Bishop of Antioch, was a student of the Apostle Paul, and was ordained by Peter. Ignatius was an early church father. In 107 A.D. on his way to martyrdom, Ignatius wrote a letter to the church in Smyrna. There had been heretics spreading false truths and claiming to be the true followers of Christ. It was at this time that Ignatius decided to further define the name of Christ’s church in order to distinguish it from the heretics. Here is chapter 8 from Ignatius’s letter to the church in Smyrna. Chapter 8. Let nothing be done without the bishop See that you all follow the bishop, even as Jesus Christ does the Father, and the presbytery as you would the apostles; and reverence the deacons, as being the institution of God. Let no man do anything connected with the Church without the bishop. Let that be deemed a proper Eucharist, which is [administered] either by the bishop, or by one to whom he has entrusted it. Wherever the bishop shall appear, there let the multitude [of the people] also be; even as, wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church. It is not lawful without the bishop either to baptize or to celebrate a love-feast; but whatsoever he shall approve of, that is also pleasing to God, so that everything that is done may be secure and valid. 107 A.D. St. Polycarp, The Martyrdom of Polycarp, 8:1, & 16:2, AD 156. When at last he had finished his prayer, in which he remembered all who had met with him ant any time, both small and great, both those with and those without renown, and the whole Catholic Church throughout the world. . . And certainly the most admirable Polycarp was one of these [elect], in whose times among us he showed himself an apostolic and prophetic teacher and bishop of the Catholic Church in Smyrna. Tertullian, Demurrer Against the Heretics, 20, AD 200. Where was [the heretic] Marcian, that shipmaster of Pontus, the zealous student of Stoicism? Where was Valentinus, the disciple of Platonism? For it is evident that those men lived not so long ago - in the reign of Antoninus [AD 138-161] for the most part - and that they at first were believers in the doctrine of the Catholic Church, in the church of Rome under the episcopate of the blessed Eleutherus [AD 175-189], until on account of their ever restless curiosity, with which they even infected the brethren, they were more than once expelled. . . . Afterward . . . Marcian professed repentance and agreed to the conditions granted to him - that he should receive reconciliation if he restored to the Church all the others whom he had been training for perdition; he was prevented, however, by death. Clement of Alexandria, Stromaties 7:17:107:3, aft. AD 202. From what has been said, then, it seems clear to me that the true Church, that which is really ancient, is one; and in it are enrolled those who, in accord with a design, are just. . . . We say, therefore, that in substance, in concept, in origin and in eminence, the ancient and Catholic Church is alone, gathering as it does into the unity of the one faith which results from the familiar covenants, - or rather, from the one covenant in different times, by the will of the one God and through the one Lord, - those already chosen, those predestined by God who knew before the foundation of the world that they would be just. So what you are saying is completely false.
Catholic means universal. So yes the early church was called catholic because thats what it meant. It fell into idolatry in the 300’s but the name had stuck. The word catholic has nothing to do with the group it represents.
@@Sandridge-w3l, enlighten me on how it fell into idolatry. This is the first time I’ve heard this one. Protestants can’t even agree on when the Catholic Church started. Some say from Apostasy after the apostles died, some say it was started by Constantine, and some say it was a group of people that rejected the Jews. You guys cannot even unite as one.
It bothers me that you don’t want to look at the root words and how they were used. It was the putting away with out a bill of divorce that causes adultery. And in Matt 19 the words there actually convey that anyone who had sex while during the betrothal period to someone other than her betrothed that is adultery. I feel bummed that you don’t look deeper
Through much research and hearing things I agreed with and things I did not agree with came and settled on the possibility of Matthew 19:9 having to do with a women lying about her virginity, and that being the cause to divorce her. Im not one however to believe my own interpretation of things but I test my thoughts against truth however it may show. I'm extremely relieved having come across your video. Is there a greater testimony concerning this, that a women lied about her virginity and married, and can justly be divorced because of that? Please respond I have to know. I would caution you brother because you can divorce but not remarry. The second part is whoever marries the divorced, commits adultery. Can you forgive her? Because the Bible says if you look at another woman to lust after her, you commit adultery. Ask her to forgive you, and see if you can forgive her. Of course if she was married before, send her back to her husband
Phillip also find in Paul's command to the married " 10And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband: 11But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife."
A quick answer to this would be Mathew 1. Joseph being betrothed to Mary found that she was with child (as he thought she was unclean... a fornicator). Therefore Joseph was minded to divorce her privately; divorce of betrothal being what was described in deuteronomy 24. We know this is the case because if the marriage is consummated then deuteronomy 22 would be applied not 24.
@@patriciarowland8230Art thou bound to a wife seek not a wife, art thou loosed from a wife seek not a wife. Bound = in marriage covenant that ends at death Loosed = death of covenant spouse therefore free to remarry. Deuteronomy 22 makes it clear. Sex with other than the betrothed during betrothal warrants death. Sex with other before betrothal warrants divorce and then marriage to the seducer. Mary's position in a trial would have depended on how far into the betrothal the pregnancy occured.
The scripture that convinced me of the Church Fathers type of position was Deauteromy 24:4 "then the first husband who divorced her is not allowed to marry her again after she has been defiled.." The Hebrew that is translated "defiled" is the exactly same word used in Leviticus 18:20 of a man having sex with his neighbors wife. And this is precisely what Jesus said "He who marries a divorced woman commits adultery".. Jesus wasn't simply explaining the Law and correcting the Scribes ofiscations.
is this just one of the many issues that have fallen into disuse, over the years....and if so what denomnation is closest to the teaching, of the early Church....
The Catholic Church. What these early Christians taught about divorce and remarriage is the same teaching that the Catholic Church has taught for over 2,000 years.
@@jimmyMc1971 The problem with the Catholic Church though is that it allows annulments of valid marriages which is a work around of their "no divorce" stance. I personally know of a person who obtained an annulment of their marriage after they divorced so that they could get married to someone else.
@@godgavemeeyestosee, do you understand what an annulment is? Not everyone is granted an annulment. If you are granted an annulment, the church is stating that the marriage wasn’t valid to begin with. Do I think that all annulments are valid? No, because I think people lie to the tribunal board during the annulment process, which makes it invalid, but that’s not the church’s fault. No human being can see inside a person and tell if they are lying or not. Matthew 5:31-32 and Matthew 19:9 is talking about an invalid marriage. A woman who presented herself to be a virgin and on the wedding night, it was found out that she had lied or committed an act of fornication, the husband could divorce her and the marriage was invalid. Other things deem a marriage invalid as well. Jesus was talking about invalid marriages and more specifically, the Jewish betrothal period. Incest - people married to their relatives would be considered an invalid or unlawful marriage. Adulterous marriages would be considered invalid or unlawful marriage. If you force someone to marry you If you marry someone who is incapable of understanding that they consented to a marriage. If you never intended to follow Gods plan for marriage, then that marriage would be invalid. If you are opposed to having children. Nothing that happens after the consummation of the marriage can deem a marriage invalid.

Whosoever putteth his wife away without giving her a bill of divorcement causeth her to commit adultery. God hated divorcement but allowed it. He did not abolish the law.
Jesus spoke about Deuteronomy 24:1-4 in Matthew 5:31-21 which says, "It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement: But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery." Also read what Jesus said in Matthew 19:9, Mark 10:11-12 and Luke 16:18. Jesus is letting the people know that divorce is no longer allowed. Also, Christians are not under the Mosaic law.
@@godgavemeeyestosee God divorced Israel because of her adultery. God would not of done that if the only reason was fornication. Something is wrong here.
Under the Mosaic law (Deuteronomy 22:20-21) could a betrothed wife, found guilty of fornication, be given a certificate of divorce in order to become another man's wife (Deuteronomy 24:1-4)?
@@ajlouviere202 According to Deut. 22:20-21, the woman was actually married to her husband (not betrothed) because he had engaged in sex with her as stated in Deut. 22:13 and he accused her of not being a virgin. If the woman's parents could not produce evidence of their daughter's virginity, then the woman was stoned to death (Deuteronomy 22:15-21). Deuteronomy 22:23 deals with a betrothed woman who is caught having premarital sex with another man. Both of them are stoned to death. I believe that during the time of Mary's (Jesus' mother) life, the Jews were not always practicing what the Mosaic Law required. One example is when the Pharisees brought a woman to Jesus for judgment who had been caught in the very act of adultery, but they did not bring the man (John 8:3-11). In Matthew 1:18-20, we read that Joseph, a just man, was planning to divorce Mary secretly until an angel appeared to him in a dream and told him not to be afraid to marry her. Is it possible that Joseph could have divorced Mary, his betrothed wife, and she not be stoned because no one actually caught her with another man although she was a virgin and had conceived Jesus by the Holy Spirit? I am not sure about this, that's why I ask because I do not know enough about Jewish custom during the time of Mary's life and because Jewish custom did not always line up with the Mosaic Law.
@@godgavemeeyestosee the scriptures regarding Joseph and Mary only show that Joseph wanted to send Mary away. There is no mention of issuing a certificate of divorce in order for her to become another man's wife.

Definitely not the mainstream "christian" message, but not less true and faithful to Jesus' teachings (and Paul's, by the way...).
I added your website to my favorites and will surely explore the material there.
Mainstream 'Christianity' is false Christianity, as the straight and narrow path is one that few find (and are willing for).
Wow bless your heart i am sharing you everywhere
The bottom line should make one tremble here, you are really discussing "eternity" for many of us who are believers but find ourselves in the list of those who will not inherit the kingdom. There we could here HIS words "depart from me I never knew you". Makes me tremble. I have but one recourse, confess and repent. Go the opposite way, no matter the pain.
I see pictures, of people smiling and think, oh my....dont they know that they are storing up wrath, in the day of judgement....it is a sobering...thought...
@Philip Buckley I wouldn’t be too taken by those smiles. Deep deep down I think many are uneasy about this, though they’d not easily open up about it and some have made up their mind to believe that it’s ok but even then I think if they’d be entirely honest they would confess to wondering if it’s ok. I had an experience with an individual that makes me think this. We need to warn them where we can.
This was very well put together - thank you!

God bless you my brethren

Hi Philip, The Reformation definitely contributed to this issue and while addressing some legitimate issues actually caused new problems. However, in part 2 (which I am working on now and will look at the Medieval Church) we will discuss the role that the Roman emperors who started going to church played in weakening the Biblical position beginning in the 4th centuries and how these leaders actually had an influence on the Reformers on this issue. It was probably Pastors themselves that wanted to remarry so they stopped teaching it.
The difference between the early church and the modern church is the modern church is apostate. The Apostle Paul warned about this in 2 Thessalonians 2:3, when he said there would be a "falling away" of the church in the last days.

The year quoted here in the video is 160 AD, whereas the Catholic church did not have its debut through Constantine until 300 AD.
Chapter 8. Let nothing be done without the bishop
See that you all follow the bishop, even as Jesus Christ does the Father, and the presbytery as you would the apostles; and reverence the deacons, as being the institution of God.
The simply viewed it the way God taught it.
Do you have an email? I need help with a question. I AGREE WITH YOU!
Thank you for this video
It bothers me that you don’t want to look at the root words and how they were used. It was the putting away with out a bill of divorce that causes adultery. And in Matt 19 the words there actually convey that anyone who had sex while during the betrothal period to someone other than her betrothed that is adultery.
I feel bummed that you don’t look deeper
I also think the decree of divorce needs to be explained and researched.
Do you have an email I can reach out to you on?
so who changed fornication, to sexual immorality.......
Nobody it's just another name for sex before marriage! Most western Christians miss this teaching bad they don't know what leave and cleave mean!
Thank you and LORD bless you!

Bound = in marriage covenant that ends at death
Loosed = death of covenant spouse therefore free to remarry.
It's good to remain unmarried if one is loosed from a wife but if they can't contain themselves they have not sinned by marrying.
Loosed does not = divorced person as the divorced are bound until death and only Loosed after death of first husband or wife.

in Matthew, does the issue, with Joseph and Mary shed any light, on fornication....sex before the covenant has been established, but durning the engagement time....
Deuteronomy 22 makes it clear. Sex with other than the betrothed during betrothal warrants death. Sex with other before betrothal warrants divorce and then marriage to the seducer. Mary's position in a trial would have depended on how far into the betrothal the pregnancy occured.
why is this exception, only, is in Matthew....
Yeah, I became Catholic after reading the early church fathers.
If you force someone to marry you
If you marry someone who is incapable of understanding that they consented to a marriage.
If you never intended to follow Gods plan for marriage, then that marriage would be invalid.
If you are opposed to having children.
Nothing that happens after the consummation of the marriage can deem a marriage invalid.
@@godgavemeeyestosee I have two friends who have done that. Annulments are not biblical.
It doesn't matter how the early church looked at divorce and remarried it's what Jesus the Christ says divorce remarriage why the spouse is alive is hell that's where you go bottom line stop listening to this garbage open up your Bible and read what Jesus said get back to the basics teachings of Jesus the Christ the four Gospels I assume you all know what that is just in case it's Matthew Mark Luke and John I call it the 4x4 read it four times let Jesus teach you
Deuteronmy 24:1-4. Isiah 50: 1. Matthew 19: Whosoever Putteth his wife away : Apaleuo not Apastasio. Corinthians chapter 7, you are missing context. Jesus Divorced Isreal. Deuteronmy : 24 1-4. Whosoever putteth his wife away without giving her a bill of divorcement causeth her to commit adultery. God hated divorcement but allowed it. He did not abolish the law.
An allowance to divorce does not equal an allowance to remarry.
What about Deuteronomy 24:1-4?
Jewish marriage covenants were unilateral because of the bride price paid to the father.
