    Do you hear how relaxed their vocal production sounded even though they were conveying urgency throughout. That’s one of the reasons it stayed so nicely in tune. Plus you had plenty of energy at the end. Also, the women absolutely nailed the four-part” glass tube” effect in the sustained sections 2 and 4. You found the knife-edge and stayed there - that’s hard as hell to do while maintaining blend. This was an outstanding performance - very well conducted and sung so well you made it look easy. Of course we all know better…

    I simply love the melody of this song and how the choir managed to blend various voices from different sections together. Nice

    So jealous of the sop 2s part! Im singing this for TMEA (Aka Texas Allstata) as a Soprano 1. Ugh. FML.

      I’m assuming you did this in 2014 TMEA - your recording of this piece is really, really excellent as well. Your conductor deliberately added to the Soprano’s workload by having you open the piece at such a low dynamic level. I could tell how far back you were pulling to keep a smaller more mysterious sound. That must have been a killer lol but the effect was worth it. You did great.

      If you did this for TMEA 2014 you guys did an excellent job with it. Fortunately it wasn’t at the tail end of the program considering how much your conductor had you do so much of it at p or mp. That’s a lot of support going on - phew!

    Dr. Hatteburg is still going strong, I see. I'm proud to say I studied under this man. Fantastic work.
    All you experts saying this is too fast and so on, have you even looked at the score? A touch too fast, possibly. Base speed is 112, this may be what- 120?
    Sorry to sound hostile, I get tired of arm-chair conductors.

    Well allstate sucked for me on a personal level it was boring and ms sharkova didn't focus on important things like blending and DYNAMICS curse those stupid tenor 2's behind me ruining the sound with their nasally wide mouthed sound...Blastisimo is a dynamic level...not a lifestyle! Bottom line is just cause you made state doesn't mean go out there and scream your heart out till you lose your voice...o lux was one of the only good songs that we performed. Because it was so difficult we spent a good amount of time on it :( just really disappointed that this years state choir wasn't as good as last year's

    • @KraziNoobXbl

      Vinay Thomas Thats exactly how I feel

    • @NuggetEternal
      @NuggetEternal 10 лет назад

      Yes, we all forget that we're singing in a choir, not by ourselves. If everyone tries to sing like they would in a solo, it's not going to sound good, and the all-state recordings show that. There were songs that could have been so breathtaking, but instead it's all a mess of noise and not much dynamic contrast. The choir in this video knows how to handle this properly, notice how minimal the vibrato is? In any case, if I make the all-state choir again, I'll be sure to address this. Because all I want is the choir to sound amazing!

    • @NuggetEternal
      @NuggetEternal 10 лет назад

      Wow, quick reply! And yeah, you're exactly right, all these people worked so hard to accomplish such a difficult feat of making all-state! It's such an incredible dream to sing with a large group of people your age with such a high caliber of talent! On another note, how're ya doing on the Bach? I'm real nervous about this one, but then again, I felt the same way about Jubilant song from last year! Hope to seeya again in the mixed choir!
