- This video explains how the vessel (ship) can counteract for the effects of prevailing currents and wind to steer an intended course. The difference between 'allowing' for and 'counteracting' is also explained.

Thank you. I am a Nautical Instructor and these videos even help me.
I took a very, very detailed coastal nav course (Starpath School of Navigation). Dr. Burch is amazing and so thorough! You have summarized here eloquently two of the most important concepts and procedures. BRILLIANT VIDEO!
Thank you Doug, very kind of u:)
Thank you sir.. tomorrow is Navigation exam...i am lucky to find ur vdo.❤❤
Sir, this is mind-blowing, its the thing I never understood and was avoiding it for last 2years but in this 13min wow I didn't knew it was this easy!!! I must say you have quite good teaching skills
Thank you so much for your kind compliments. Glad I could help:)
It was the best explanation on RUclips regarding this topic.Thank you very much
Thank you sir..

Awesome
Thank you. Makes it very easy. It would be helpful to determining the eta at a certain position, such as abeam green island. (measuring the full distance from the starting point (of EP2) to green island, then dividing by the speed made good presumably). Thank you!
Thank you, much appreciated 🙏
Bless you 🙏
would you have a link to another video that shows eta determined with a leeway and or current please?
would you have a video link where you have used the speed made good due to leeway and or a current, in order to determine the eta at a certain destination? thank you.
What if the second part of the question says to allow a leeway of 10 degrees instead of counteracting. Then what will be your leeway track opposite to the wind or into the wind?
Please sir if we are given time the vessel should spend on the trip do we add it to the current if we are COUNTERACTING from the beginning before we add the wind
Nice sir
sir kindly upload a video about how to calculate beam bearing and beam distance

Good Day sir if we have situation 1 - allow for leeway and counteract current than which to apply first??
Situation 2 : if we have 0 degree leeway than what to do??
you always allow for leeway first. If it is zero degrees then the course remains same and you go on to apply current.

In simple words can you plz tell why we counteract the current or leeway?
Thnx in advance sir.
We need to counteract current or leeway to reach our desired destination. If we don't counteract, our ship will end up reaching some other place as intended as it will be pushed by the effects of the wind or current.
dear sir , please explain about how green is is bearing 300 deg .
Sir, will u go through last year 2nd Mate Chartwork questions
Good morning

Can you explation about Grand track?

Please share your email id, i will ask questions there if i will face some difficulties 😊
