If all who are caught coming in irregularly are sent back on the spot and all traffickers sentenced to labor camps that would be the end of this mess.

The wall around the capitol works because it is complete and patrolled. Patrolled does not mean unarmed welders fixing the damage you fail to prevent. Destroying US property or security defenses to illegally enter the US is an incursion or invasion, not immigration.

An obstacle like the Wall isn't impenetrable. But the Wall can be effective if it slows down or canalizes. If you have over-watch of an obstacle, this allows you to intervene in some fashion to fill the breaches.

Unless I'm wrong, I believe that section is part of the old wall because it lacks the climb resistant plate on top, has different bollards, plus on the US side there isn't the corresponding infrastructure of road nor lighting.

The best wall is the military barriers used to create America bases in Afghanistan. You put 3 rows of the barriers and you get about 30 feet of solid wall. Barriers are build with dirt put in each container. Bomb proof cannot shot through it. You run 3 rows of razor wire on the us side on the bottom.

Totally see your point but any administration that gets into office is totally limited by the funding that congress ultimately approves for any given project. Also, the administration that comes in after the last administration often reverses positive progress that was being made. Which btw is exactly what’s happening now with the 2021 administration... their 1st week in office they have halted and/or are trying to cancel construction and if successful, the construction companies will still get paid (due to contractual obligation) but the rest of the wall will not get built/finished.

In New Jersey alone, every several years tens of thousands of new jerseyans apply for section 8 housing. The state has what they call "a lottery" Of that only 4,000 may receive it. And that can take up to 3 years achieve. New Jersey has a very big problem with low income housing. Consider the other 49 states. Add 2.2 million assylum seekers. Go figure?

It should be no surprise that a physical wall in the 21st century is easy enough to climb with easily portable ladders or cut through with modern hand-held tools. But yet no one thought of this in advance???
