You cant really judge Michigan's individual Dline by stats because they literally didnt play in the last 20-25 mins of 3/4 of their games. And the 30-35 mins they did play was split because they had 8 guys who could rotate
Another 3 star true sophomore, can't believe he wasn't ranked higher in HS... He won player (or lineman?) of the year in the hardest HS conference in the country
Elston finds these guys like Hoke used to Hoke had his faults for sure, but nobody could deny his talent for identifying defensive linemen nobody else had heard of.
Agree, as a former collegiate D-Lineman, I always look for Mason. Hes so technically sound. Jim Harbaugh referred to him as “a gift from the football gods” when he was just a freshman.
@K9Cop2314 Grant was "the gift from the football gods". Due to his athleticism at that size. Graham has simply been a veteran from the moment he stepped on campus. Ready for action, right out of the box. Pretty rare for the position.
The Rotation will continue next year. Rayshaun Benny is the third, last year's fourth. Benny may play on Sundays also. Trey Pierce (true sophomore to be) will be the fourth as of now. Michigan has recruited well on the defensive line.
Graham is fantastic at using his hands. He's smaller than Grant but uses his leverage extremely well. I think both have a very good shot to be first rounders. Grant will be taken higher, between 10-20 and likely the first DT taken because of his ceiling but Graham is just super productive and technical. Wouldn't be surprised if he's goes between 25-30 in the draft when he comes out. I can't think of a DT duo in college football as good as these two next season; or this past season for that matter.
Its extremely valuable to have real studs in the middle to base your defense around. I know Michigan is losing good players, but having these guys to base around should help them maintain a great defense.
I don’t think so I think graham is a top 10 pick. He can play nose or three technique. Grant will definitely be used as a nose even though he could play 3 tech with his great quickness.
This defense was incredible to watch. They just sucked the life outta offenses. It didnt matter how Red Hot you were, the Defense always found a way to shut the opposing crowd up.
What you guys are missing by looking at just raw statistics without any other in formation/context is that first 1/2 of the season he didn’t play in the 4th quarter. Michigan also rotated 5 guys through those 2 interior DL spots
It's usually assumed that interior linemen will play around half of his team's defensive snaps, so this assumption goes into analyzing their stats. For example, during Georgia's '21-22 season, Jordan Davis played only 37% of the Bulldog's snaps while Jalen Carter played 40%. They would be drafted 13th and 9th overall. I think it would be good if Graham plays over 60 percent against top opponents next season and Grant plays close to 50. The low snap percentage caused Davis to drop a bit. I believe that the major distinction between Grant and Davis is that Grant is a better pass rusher and is more disruptive in the passing game with deflections. I believe both Grant and Graham will be even more productive next season.
Michigan fan here. All the glory goes to the offense, on most teams, but the main reason we are national champs is because of that d-line.

Great point. I'm astounded by how many high-level d linemen Michigan has. They all absolutely get after it.
8:23 this. Relentless tracking. Never giving up on the play.
You saw OSU and Washington defenders often slow up when things felt out of range.

He has a great wrestling background so that helps him tackle and get off blocks
Wrestling is one of the best thing a lineman can do to improve his game.
Glad you guys decided to break down Graham I can’t keep my eyes off him whenever Michigan plays I just find myself going back to him.
You're welcome. We had fun taking a closer look at him. Thanks for your comment.
@@LockedInIntel keep up the great breakdowns, subscribed now.

They were blowing out teams and rotating this year total tackle number gonna be lower. But great video thanks guys

Agreed. They are an awesome pair.

Most definitely.
I can see both being top 15-20 picks.
Grant because of his potential to get much better.
Graham because he's just so natural and productive.

He's the best d tackle in college.
He will be a top 10 pick in the 2025 draft.

You guys should check out Mason Graham's numbers from MGoBlog . . . his impact (as well as the entire D-line's) is well documented.
Thank you.
Mason graham is the best DT in college football 🔥🔥
His only competition is the kid right next to him Kenny Grant. The defense is in good hands forsure. Go blue
