The guy asking questions is completely clueless about car audio it seems. Well, our expert from Pioneer didn't do much better. You do need to run a wire from the battery. There isn't going to be spare 10 amps found anywhere. If that 10 even is an accurate number, because that's not enough for even 100 watts.
If you view the video on Pioneers channel they show that the power lead only has a 10 amp fuse on it. Also they mention that the unit is 200 watts MAX which means it really only puts out 50-100 watts. So yeah, it may get fairly deep but it's not going to be terribly loud!
Sure you could get a 12" sub and 1k amp for $500. But it will take up a LOT more space than that will and someone buying that Pioneer unit doesn't want seriously banging bass, but they do want something that can fill out the lows and still leave most of their trunk area still usable.
Exactly, that is the point of this unit. Personally I'd definitely just fill my trunk with a larger enclosure but not everyone wants that. Most people don't really have the resources or skills to build anything decent anyway.
i get your point. but that not the target audience for this. however, $500 is a great budget to buy better stuff that can be small and louder. Like two ported 8" alpine type r and 500 watt amp would be way better
It's a bit much for what the package is. Anyone who is serious about car audio would never buy this thing. It's made for a sucker customer base. Sorta like BOSS Audio and CRUNCH. Pioneer, stop this. Your amps are great....speakers, not so much.

whoreizon you have no idea how speakers work. 100 watts can do plenty! It's all about the efficiency of the speaker and box design.
pentti your cigarette lighter plug has 15 amps. So no you don't need to run to the battery but I still would.
Yeah, that just doesn't make for a very professional looking install, haha. = ) Still, that's not what this guy is claiming as I understand.
doesn't look professional? really? Don't let randoms install it.
Nice
looks good....500 is too much 4 weak ass bass imo
$500!? you'd be a sucker to buy that for 2 6.5" drivers? for $500 you can easily get a 1k 12" sub and a 1k amp and build your own box.
AlwaysChangingMind And will sounds 100 times more powerful

OR you could get 2 tangband woofers for 50 each and build a tapped horn or t line and get a 100 watt amp cheap.

No, it doesn't look like carbon fiber at all. Though, it looks quite nice
"its dual voice coil" who cares if it is? Its a self powered, who would care if it was
Who the hell wants 2 6.5 inch subwoofers not me

The Infamous
Not everyone wants a trunk full of woofers. Some just want a fuller sound.
put that in a trunk and you wont hear it at all. hatchback or suv would be better but still this is lame
Well, it is designed for those vehicles as I understand.
I have it in my 2015 Focus ST and it sounds really great.
go buy jbl, pioneer sucks
