Do these dent easily when a ball nails them? Will that dent return to normal or does it leave a dent forever?

They may dent slightly? I can't feel any big dents and they look exactly the same as the day I installed them. I would imagine the dent stays. It's an interesting texture, it's a semi-rigid sound insulation that you can certainly squeeze flat if you wanted to.

Great information! How did you attach the wall panels and what did you do for the ceiling protection?

Thanks! The panels are attached with industrial strength velcro from Home Depot. I had to use construction adhesive on both the panel and wall for the velcro to have enough adhesive to pull apart. Two strips vertically about 6" in from either side. Ceiling protection is 1" sheet foam insulation with square foam sound panels from amazon glued on. The ceiling is the one thing i'd do differently if I were to do this build again. I'd probably use baffles hung down at 10" increments to just stop the ball as it goes that high. Carl's place sells them, as do most indoor golf shops. The reason I attached 2 1" pieces together was because I wanted the softer impact resistance of the sound insulation and the lightweight stiff styrofoam surface to mount the panel to the wall. The styrofoam insulation would not deaden the ball on impact enough to use as is. The Owens Corning insulation is rigid, but I was concerned it would not mount to the wall well enough using the wall insulation clips used for sound studios to take a ball impact. You certainly could use wood as a backing if weight was not a concern.

Do these panels go behind the screen or on the side?

These are the enclosure panels on the side if you are going for a built-in look. There isn't anything behind the screen. The impact screen does all the work, you want to make sure you leave 12 -18 inches of space behind so you don't have any interference.
