It's made for 2s out of the box. :) They recommend using lower gearing for 3s to drive it better and for better durability since lower acceleration.

i would say its a mini savage. not a copy of the Cen truck. the full size savage has had twin plate chassis since it was released many many years ago. the 6s savage flux XL is just straight up violent. truck is a blast

I don’t know HPI that well but as a brand it’s growing on me, because it’s slightly different built than Arrma and Traxas. Would love to see a review of the HPI Vorza S on your channel.

Being in this hobby only for 3 years I remember immediately fall in love with HPI. Especially in Wheely King 🤩 This is such a fun monster truck for me!
Nice to see these guys still in this hobby, long live to HPI 💪😉

Looks like it'll be pretty tough. Maybe a new 3S 1/10 MT competitor to the AE MT10 and ARRMA Granite
    Awesome vid as always AJ

Great video and HPI is probably more known here in the U.K. and they’re really good trucks. I think you should point out to newer drivers that you should go over a new vehicle and check everything is nice and tight. This also has the benefit of getting to know how your rc works. Thanks for another interesting video

One thing that I really hate of many videos about RC’s is the background music. I rather listen to the RC engine and running instead of the background music is just too loud and annoying. Thanks

Excellent review as always. Love the bash location you have there. So nice in the dust and pines. Wish it was that dry here in the UK.

I love mine. Takes some nasty tumbles but it just keeps going! FYI, the stock tires are pretty bad. Way too hard of a compound and you get absolutely no grip.
Edit: I should have waited to comment till the end lol. You really put it through its paces.

If you want to go bigger on HPI, have a look at the HPI Jumpshot Flux MT. Bit simpler to maintain, but very fast and tough and awesome fun. Just got a second hand Savage XS Flux. It needs a bit of work, but i find it a bit daunting. It's very complex. I don't even know where to start taking it apart.

It looks like if you could get those back wheels balanced better because they look really wobbly. If you get those balanced good I think it would handle a lot better for you. Because if it's really wobbly like that it'll throw it off balance making it really squirrely and difficult to drive. Get it the run smooth I guarantee it or handle better.😊

Great review. What would you say compared to the Arrma Granite?
    Cheers

    • @AJJAMStudios
      @AJJAMStudios  11 месяцев назад

The size difference is a big deal. The Granite is bigger, fast, powerful, and fun. The controllability is better on the Granite and it’s the size difference that causes most of that. Both are cool. If you like smaller RCs then either will work for you. Parts for the Granite are readily available at most hobby stores in our area. While I have to order in parts for the HPI. We are located in the US and things may be different elsewhere. I’m glad we have both. Thanks for asking 😎👍

3:50 its more like the original savage that HPI have been making for thousands of years and all in-between have utilized a twin vertical plate chassis set up

I bought one of those used off Ebay years ago. It had broken 4-wheel drive. Put a pin in rear wheel runs fine. Not my favorite truck. Like my Traxxas RCs much more.

    • @giveML

This isn't even 1/10, it's closer to 1/12 scale so for the price it's a bit overpriced. Considering the AE 14MT is less than $220 this should be around $280. At $350 I'm getting the Granite as well.

Deans T connectors ? What year is this again? 1875 ?
Look, i have a soft spot for Deans T plugs, because they were my first "big boy" RC connector... But T plugs have no place on a 10th scale, no place on a monster truck, no place on any vehicle that goes more than 40 mph, no place on a $350 vehicle of any kind.
What do they max out at, 45 amps? And if you squint at them, they come unplugged.
    WTF, HPI?
Yeah, I don't know if i agree with "deans should be fine on 2 or 3s"
I used to use a T battery because i bought one for an old truck, and I'd put in a bash session, ambient temperature only 85, and the T connector would be *roasting* hot. That's 3s, which i consider beyond the prudent power draw for Deans.
Its ancient technology that belongs in the dark ages or on 2s vehicles or weird Martian crawlers from Indochina, made by Piltdown Man before he evolved.
    Not a fan.
Also, what was wrong with the right rear tire during "balloon test" on the bench. It was having a grand mal seizure. I thought one of my Upgrade RC tires was poorly balanced... That tire looked like it forgot the safe word and needed adult supervision. It was going through it.

2S this thing is great, but as a basher not so much. I have broken multiple parts on this since I have owned (6months). I feel HPI has gone down in quality over the years.

it's not 1/10 btw. 1/12 ish but has 1/10 electronics. It's much smaller than their 1/10 offerings.

ehhh more like a 1/12th scale sitting next to a legit 1/10th this thing is smaller for sure.

Back in the day HPI was huge. For MT bashing it was Savage vs. Maxx. Lots if turmoil though for HPI in the 2010s though and ARRMA arose to become the new competitor for Traxxas. SavageXS is an old design. There really wasnt anything competable to it when it first came out. Small overpowered and very dutable MT. A handful to drive but that was expected as it was created in the shadow of its big brother the Savage Flux HP which was similarly a handful as an 1/8 scale on 6S power!
