@ 3:27 I just noticed that the intersection here is the same one used for the first car chase scene in the "Let it Be Me" episode. Apparently, Knight Rider reused quite a few areas in California, they had specific location spots and could sometimes look very different simply by changing camera angles, but were effectively the same areas, especially the outer desert ones.
Great episode. Right from the start. I suppose if Kitt had microlocked the brakes on the straight parts of the road, there would be no episode. TV Guide 1985: 7pm KNIGHT RIDER Kitt catches the bad guy in the first 5 minutes. Michael has a picnic.
Could argue KITT wasn't in range yet, by the time they were it was too dangerous to do so, hence Michael's response _"No, he might crash into those tanks!..."_
The original UK transmisión of this series (kitt has convertible modification) moved from normal TV to the new sky TV (satalite TV) as we never had sky TV in our house I missed everything after kitt got the 'C button'. I'll have to watch the episodes now 👍🏼
you could substitute KITT with a C8 convertible and a police scanner - and you do nearly everything he did here - except for "microlock" brakes and rotors - that's next year's model : )

My husband and I have been watching all the episodes on Roku. I love watching these old shows!
It's cheesy, and downright bad at times. But, the nostalgia factor is so high, I can't help but to enjoy it.
