I had an ectopic but didn’t know it until I was in the ER for severe abdominal pain. My Fallopian tube had ruptured and I needed emergency surgery to stop the bleeding. I lost 5 units of blood. I was only 6 weeks along so hadn’t had an ultrasound yet. Even though I had spotting and intermittent abdominal pain, I was told not to worry about it and to wait til after 6 weeks for an ultrasound. I went into the ER 2 days before my ultrasound was scheduled.
Eight months later I’m still recovering physically and emotionally. I want to keep trying for a baby (had an HSG and my remaining tube is clear), but we’ve been trying for so many years (this was my second loss) and I’m exhausted and trying to convince myself to move on to plan B (adoption).

I was able to keep both my tubes this is was my second miscarriage I have PCOS and a incompetent cervix that’s how I had my 1st miscarriage. I have faith so I’m staying positive.

Hi doc, my first pregnancy was good, conceived without any delay at 24yrs, planned to have second child after 5years, at 29 tried to conceive but nothing happened for next 2 to 3yrs, finally conceived at 33 yrs, but it was ectopic. I didn't knew until I was at the emergency Dept. I just missed 1 month menstrual cycle, I did not think I was pregnant, I had sudden severe lower abdominal pain, fainted and had very severe shoulder pain, lucky my hubby was at home, he rushed me to the hospital, scans, blood test all done and emergency laprotomy done and my left fallopian tube that was ruptured was removed. I am 40 yrs now, still trying to conceive naturally, taking elevit.
Now after watching your video I am planning to take vit e and vit c supplements too. Thanks

I did not know that what to do after but overall i was eating healthy and i actually did all of what u mentioned. And we started trying to conceive after 8 months of pregnancy when i was sure that my tubes are healthy and i m healthy to try again. So yes its definitely possible to get pregnant and be pregnant after ectopic.

I had an ectopic with IVF 😪. The embryo travelled allll the way up to the end of my fallopian tube. It obviously didn't want to be born. I was devastated but also angry at the fact that it had been transferred into my uterus with a perfect lining but decided to go on a huge journey to the end of the tube, where it thought was a great place to make its home.

I refuse & will have another HCG test done again soon. Apparently they didn't see any image on the monitor screen but I figured that's because my HCG is so low. It is slowly rising though

My hubby and I have been trying nearly 7 years and this was the first time we’ve been pregnant so our hearts are broken and don’t know where to start on our journey once I heal up from my surgery (happened yesterday). The first step the doctors want to take is the ink test where they shoot inc through your tube(s) but I woudl love deeper insight if at all possible to what my options are ❤

1st pregnancy: conceived naturally after fallopian dye test/flush, but miscarried at 7.5 weeks.
2nd: conceived naturally, but it was ectopic & fortunately found quickly.
3rd: successful IUI procedure following a fallopian dye test/flush (went full term & delivered).
4th: just found that I've conceived naturally again, & I seem to have convinced myself that I'm likely to have another ectopic pregnancy since I didn't have a fallopian dye test, which I think of as a flush.

I just had a ruptured ectopic. I had bleeding first and felt fine so thought it was just an ordinary miscarriage at 7 weeks, but that evening got terrible pain and had to have emergency surgery, losing a fallopian tube and a lot of blood. The lesson for me is to always go to the hospital when miscarrying, just incase there is a complication, because the situation could have been far less serious for me if I had done that.
What's interesting is that my mum had a ruptured ectopic and a year later had me so I know it's possible to have a healthy pregnancy after an ectopic. Not only had she lost her fallopian tube with the ectopic but years previous, lost an ovary to a cyst. I always wondered how she had an ectopic in the tube on the side where there was no ovary. Your explanation that tubes can catch eggs from either ovary and that our reproductive system does not necessarily look like the diagram was news to me and very interesting. Thanks for this :)

I had slow rising HCG (was not doubling every 24 or 48 hours) so my OB / GYN was doubtful of ectopic as there was an empty uterus in multiple scans. I miscarried at 7 weeks 3 days as 50% decrease in HCG (1509 to 661) followed by natural bleeding for 8 days. Was not given any medication, Dr just keep on asking for any abdominal pain that I didnt have since ever. Could it be the case of ectopic? Any advice please, thanks.

In my case unfortunately, I had abdominal pain one day before being taken to emergency for a surgery, and the bleeding out (not the internal one) happened right before becoming so sick that I fainted and I was already very very sick, with the rupture open.... 😢...so I just want to say that the bleeding in my case was right before fainting and losing my consciousness at home ....the first sign was abdominal pain, somewhere between those levels that a woman has when getting its period and till the pimt that I was uncomfortable to sit on my tummy in the bed ....but consider that I have had a full night sleeping with pain and then the next afternoon I got super sick with extreme pain and internal bleeding...I needed, the surgeons have said 2l of blood ....

Why does ivf treatment increase the risk of an etopic pregnancy? This is what my hospital told me after I had a fresh transfer and had an etopic pregnancy. Also is it less likely with a frozen transfer? I had methotrexate. Will try again in a few months.

I have just literally gone through finding out I’ve had a right ectopic, it was right next to my ovary in the tube but very small didn’t grow past a certain stage. I was only meant to be around 5 weeks when I started bleeding and noticed something wasn’t quite right. Went to the A&E and had bloods done every 48 hours, they went up slightly then down again so did a scan that’s when they said looks to be right ectopic, my body has dealt with it on its own though, I bled for 11 days in total (not constant - two days out of those were a medium flow the rest was here and there and spotting mostly) I stopped bleeding a few days ago now. My last hcg level was 26 on Wednesday 17th the highest they had was 80 so it’s def going down, I only need to go back next Wednesday 24th to check it again to make sure it’s gone down to where it should be. Would you say it was safe for us to try again right away? With me not having been that far and no intervention being necessary? Thank you

I just had an ectopic pregnancy and I'm frustrated and confused. I guess my only risk factor from the ones you listed is the progestin-only birth control pill I've been taking. I guess this was the cause of this?? It's scary. I don't like the combo birth control pills. So the only prevention is to take vitamin C, E, fish oil and tumeric??? Ugh not sure that will make a difference... :( I'm not trying to get pregnant.

Hi doctor Marc I recently just had a at topic pregnancy. I was about seven weeks in two days. Mine was in the tube I knew I was pregnant for a little over two weeks and I had some bleeding and lower back pain but the doctor I was talking to didn’t think there was anything to worry. Well I had gone in because I was experiencing really bad pain on my right side and they found out it was in a topic so I had went to the hospital for it and they were able to save both my tube but I guess I’m just a little scared to try again. My fiancé and I are going to try again but I’m a little scared cause I don’t want to have to go through it again because I was told they had 25% chance more of having one and all they want is to be a mom but I don’t wanna have to experience another one and then have to deal with another loss .
