Remember how you (someone who never played Last of Us) paid $60 for Last of Us as a new game? (PS3)
Now people (who have never played Last of Us) can pay $70 for Last of Us as a new game. (PS5)
Or they and you can wait 4 months for it to become a $40 game. I really don't understand how you people can complain. You literally have no argument. You have no stakes. You either already own it, so what do you care about waiting. Or you don't plan to get it again, so what do you care about how much it costs.

@@thedarkemissary Look, I don't want to argue with you. I'm just saying the remake of tlou does not need to be $70. Many remakes and remasters, and even collections like the crash and spyro trilogies were $40, and those offered more than what the remake of tlou offers. The game isn't even 10 years old, it didn't need a remake, it had a perfectly fine remaster on PS4 that is still accessible.
Understand that people are upset because instead of remaking games that could benefit from remakes, or making a new game, they do things like these. There needs to be a limit.

Hands down the best collection/remaster of this generation has to be Halo MCC. It was really rough at launch but now, being able to play all 6 games plus with their respective multiplayers and being able to queue up for any of them is fantastic. Aswell as the recent addtion of playing custom games. Makes you really feel like you didnt miss anything from the original titles.
Sure with other remasters and collections, they let you play just the story, but they also miss the community from the original game and the reason why people loved the game

    • @GammaBeta656

Not to mention with the recent shutdown of all 360 online services, were it not for the MCC, the online multiplayer community for Halo 3, 4 and Reach wouldve been gone for good (save for some niche communities potentially running private servers).
With the MCC, not only can you revisit the classic and iconic Halo CE and 2 multiplayer (already long gone by now on the original Xbox), you can continue to play Halo 3, Halo 4 and Halo Reach online as if nothing happened.

The Cowabunga Collection I kinda understand if both versions are the same price, people just like to have certain covers for consistency's sake. Also with FF7R, it had a completely new DLC scenario and I don't think I ever heard of a previous gen game having next gen DLC so it makes sense they went the whole "upgrade route" with that. Stuff like Uncharted though having an entirely new collection with very slight changes at 50 bucks when they could easily just make heavily discounted ports of each just with the PS5 box art is a bit of a headscratcher, ngl.

The problem with something like Legacy of Thieves collection is that if it was any other publisher, an update that minor would be released as a free update. But with Sony, it costs $50 USD.

Scott's being misleading, It was a $10 update for all owners of the PS4 version. In fact, if you only owned one game it'll give you the other for no extra cost. It's actually a great deal. I only owned Uncharted 4 and buying LL alone would have cost $10, so for $10 getting it and a remaster of U4 was incredible.

There are differences between PS4 and PS5 differences of classic style indie games, believe it or not. Take Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom. The PS5 version is capable of running at 120Hz / native 4K. On a nice display that supports that it'll look amazing. It's a great game too. Worth checking out. The new Klonoa game also looks and runs better on a PS5 than a PS4.. And don't even bother with the Switch port of that if you can help it.

I highly disagree on when you said Ratchet and Clank Rift apart isn’t that big of a jump from the 2016 game. Rift Apart literally takes full advantage of the PS5’s SSD instant load times that they literally turned it into a mechanic. The instant switching wouldn’t have really worked on PS4 unless you had a giant load screen at the beginning of the game. Also the environments and models are giant improvement from the 2016 game, to the point where Ratchets ps4 model looks off, especially with the subpar fur shading.

    • @RodaMoonknight
      @RodaMoonknight 2 года назад +8

Pretty sure the "Rifts" effect has been done before as well as shown on Psychonauts 2. If you mean like Fur textures and so on sure, that's next gen and maybe the triggers and Dualsense vibrations but the game overall could be done on ps4. Look at Returnal and how it'll be on PC. It can be done, just like any brand, they try to sell you on with smart talk.
The SSD is indeed fast, but we haven't seen a game that actually uses it to a full capacity because most games already feel like ps4 games enhanced. Even more when games weight a lot even if they said they could compress it, look at Horizon Forbidden west

I feel like FF7R and Legacy of Thieves collection are kind of bad examples as it actually showcases something really good introduced in this generation, that being upgrade paths, Itergrade was a literal free upgrade, just intermission cost a little extra which was understandable considering the quality of it. And Legacy of thieves collection also had an upgrade path for 10 bucks for both PS4 discs, meaning you got one of the 2 games free if you didn't own the other game already.
Both games run and play significantly better, Uncharted and FF7R both were miracles on PS4 and espeically FF7R was absolutely held back by the hardware, Uncharted uses great motion blur so the lower framerate isn't that noticable, but going from 1080 30 to 4k 60 / 1080 120 on both isn't a minor upgrade i'd say, definitely worth a small upfgrade fee (as long as it's no more than 10 bucks) plus remember it's not like they're wasting years of development time on them, these games were both developed with higher fidelity in mind. And selling them at a more expensive price is defintely no not immeditely devalue the IP, Nintendo is very cautous with discounts or ports for the same reason.
It also shows that they're trying to get a great experience across the board, the PC versions for all 4 games you showed being a thing is definitley a factor in some of these definitve editions happening currently.

Gears of War itself was a test project for Epic to develop Unreal 3 on the Xbox 360. The toolchain for the Xbox 360 wasn't fully completed prior to its release, and there was even a lawsuit over that between Silicon Knights and Epic over this; albeit Epic won the case, due to their contract stating it wasn't complete, from what I understand, and then counter sued them. Gears of War 3 was used internally to stress test the PS3 internally at Epic. So, in a way, Gears of War Ultimate Edition being made for the Xbox One makes sense to me, albeit it wasn't done by Epic this time.
edit: I believe that the Mega Man Legacy Collection is also _technically_ not emulation in a sense, Capcom for whatever believes that emulating an NES breaks some copyright that Nintendo owns (even though it doesn't), even if the emulator is developed in-house by Capcom, so the team behind it had to figure out how to emulate the game in a way that doesn't actually "emulate it." The game isn't running "in an emulator," from what I understand they had to figure out what an emulator would do and then just code it to do that to begin with. This solved Capcom's concern with shipping an NES emulator and NES roms even though neither are technically Nintendo IP.

Tomb Raider was so buggy on 360 and PS3. The fixes were a godsend. But somehow Rise and Shadow dropped in more issues 🤦

Great games. Really enjoyed the ps4 gen and ps5 gen so far. Just miss having new metal gear solid games and some other old series.

Honestly at this point Sony could've used called it the PS4 Pro 2 and no one would have questioned it

17:03 safe to say, Scott isn't aware of a texture quality problem FF7 Remake has on the original release vs Integrade (which still has problems, but it's improved)
If you want the most obvious example: look at the entirely of the Slums section or look at the "jpeg-quality" Skybox in later chapters.

What do you think about Crisis Core Reunion: Final Fantasy VII? A very different take on a “remaster.” One could even call it a remake…

Someone who still buys physical , made me chuckle. For uncharted , I got it pretty much as a free upgrade on ps5

I honestly see the difference in the 2 versions of ghost of tsushima. I don't know about the other games u spotlighted. I have seven games that I own on both ps4 and ps5 and can honestly say the difference in versions is extremely noticeable. I do agree the last 2 generations of gaming have gotten a little boring. The last of us part 1 looks alot better than the ps4 remaster. Just my opinion Scott awesome channel keep the good content coming man.

Although a newer and more well optimized versions of 7th gen games is great, it would've been even nicer if the Xbox one and PS4 just launched with backwards compatibility and focused on games that were actually new.

I see it as Playstation is moving their attention to PC, which is crazy to think about, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Ghost of Tsushima next. On PC, Playstation games are some of the best looking games in general available on the market, and PS5 is being side stepped to put them on PC with a "new" audience. I think Sony is doing fairly well on PC because they bought a studio to only port games to Steam. Love it or hate it, Nintendo is constantly giving people a game to talk about and Playstation wants to take on two markets going forward, sort of following Xbox's focus on Gamepass rather than the console, and that's too bad. Overall appeal is nice, but they won't develop another Gravity Rush or LocoRoco. I don't see people getting nostalgia for the PS5 or this generation of consoles in general because they're losing their identity that made them special in the first place.
