This is not for stereo music reproduction in a normal home listening room. It is for a very large home theater or professional theater. The electronics are quite sophisticated, and not just a bunch of high power amps.
i've listened to a number of demos and it is definitely NOt my taste . it sounds like one of those cars with massive subs in the back , muddy, boomy , very slow to recover and overwhelming every other aspect of the music .
its a big sub, but whats ambitious about it? Looks quite to small for what they put inside imo. So its still a compromise design which i dont understand but speaker companies seem to be unable to do a decent design. Well, couldnt afford it anyway so its back to diy for me anyway. Then i can build them in a way that actually makes sense.
They look cool but I would not pay 100k for them that is alot. That's full retail MSRP. It's well known dealers will give deals on items when buying at this level. I have a pair of VAC 452 IQ musicblocs amps. I dont pay retail for anything. Dealers charge closer to retail for the cheaper items because when selling 1,000 speakers they might make 200 to 300 bucks for a lot of time and energy for the sale. When they sell high end stuff the margins are greater so even selling at a lessor percentage profit make a lot more money that would take selling dozens or hundreds of the small stuff ( desk speakers, high end headphones, etc.) so lot less work for them. Out of about 400 million U.S. population about 14 million millionaires so more money out there than people think they just do not flash it. Usually the ones flashing are leveraged to the hilt and and have lots of debt living above their means. Someone making millions a year might live a 100k to 200k lifestyle and invest the rest and then next year live a 240k lifestyle staying conservative while their liquid and net worth grows.
@@Mark-rw3kw Well, as far as equalization is concerned, it's pretty basic. at 1:45 you can see that It's got only 2 analog peaking filters, of which you can set the center frequency, the Q, and the gain. 2 filters only are not enough to properly equalize a sub in a room, so you're gonna need an extra equalizer anyway.
$50k each HAHAHA... bro for $5000 all in including drivers and parts you can get dual 21 inch devastators from gsg audio that would blow this thing out of the fucking water in every regard
21" drivers would produce very low bass notes, but would be slow and sound muddy, and not keep up with the other speakers. A significant amount of the cost of these is the electronics, crossovers, equalization, etc.
@@martinriiser5523 The bigger the speaker driver, then typically the longer the speaker throw (or cone excursion) all other things being equal. So generally a very large cone has to travel further and is slower to react than smaller cones (depending on how it is designed). Most very high end full range speaker systems have multiple smaller woofers, rather than one large woofer. However, at extremely low frequencies this may not be as much of a problem due to the wavelength size, but it is generally accepted that some sub-woofers have a "tighter and faster" sound than others..
@@Mark-rw3kw WRONG. With appropriate motor they would be just as fast and detailed and in fact sound even better because the driver doesn't need to move as much as a smaller driver so there is less distortion.
Also even with electronics that have all the same features the cost would be far far less.. under $7k for a pair or dual 18s or dual 21s that will absolutely smash this mcintosh joke.
What a BS product for McIntosh to put out ... $50K for a sub. There are plenty of reference subs on the market, and they won't set you back this kind of money. If you can afford it, great, enjoy it, but for the other 99% of us, a complete waste.
AWESOME!!!
Awesome, love it.
100k is really outrageous…. Never would I think this is money well spent…
That’s for 8 speakers and 8 amps, “a new standard”. You could spend that on one griffin or Boulder amp.
It's pennies for some people, your perspective is just limited
Then you're not the target market.
The Wilson Audio Subsonic are $80K/pair but don't include amps or crossovers.

Can it fit in my civic hatchback ?
Yes, you can fit a Civic hatchback inside these speaker cabinets.

Not dialled in correctly? Or are they just bad subs?
Have you heard the perlisten d215s, JL Gotham, or rel no.32?
O

You should spell something out with that.
Insane lol
Class D?
Then get 2 JL's Gotham v2!
Or a REL "six-pack"
There are home theater fans who can actually afford $100,000 subwoofers.
There are indeed; in many areas of LA that would be a rounding error in the price of the home theater alone.
You would need 2 to make this work.

Can it hit 20hz
Well of course.
My tiny in-ears extend to 20hz.
Audiophilia has lost its mind😂
Toys for Tech Bros
I would rather have dual gsg 21 inch subs with an amp of my own choice
🤤

100000 no room correction...
I think YG Acoustics Invincible sub is more ambitious than the Mac, not to mention I wouldn't want some obnoxious display on a sub in a dark theater.
I am pretty sure you can turn the display off.
never seen a review of that yg one and it looks insane
I think the guys at McIntosch are sniffing their own farts 💨 too much. $100,000 a pair.
Who doesn’t?
@@ramsaybolton9099 ha
All that for only 500w per driver?? A little overpriced?
I'd rather have a Porsche 911
They can't help it but ruin the looks of every product by attaching that god awful blue VU meter.
my car sub is better and is under 5k setup
If I stack 4 Rythmiks or RELs I'd probably get better performance
But I don't think they have the same level of sophistication with regard to the electronics, equalization, etc.
