Creating your own course 31 years ago, and you can't even do that in 99% of games nowadays. Talk about revolutionary. The movie theater about 2 miles away from me had the arcade of this. Along with Tron and R-Type. God these kids don't know how good they have it now, yet I wouldn't give the memories of playing this up for the life of me.
dwayne601 when I was a kid I used the big ramps and have my brother play it just to see him wipe the bike out it made me laugh so hard but my brother was quick to get even with me God I had a lot of fun when I was a kid good times with this fantastic game so many memories back then
This game is a unforgettable part of my childhood! My sisters and my cousins used to play this everytime we were at our cousins apartment. I remember that one of my cousins used to swear a lot everytime he chrashed with the motorcycle. It was hilarious and I still laugh everytime that I think about it XD! I will love this game til the day I die! :D
I laughed so hard watching this guy finish 9th! I was expecting a perfect run but instead my haunted childhood has been validated by this video. Excitebike was rough
and it had an option to save that course but after hitting save always kept telling saving…never did I gave up maybe save option was given just like that!
My dad still has his old NES, and he has this game on it. Let me just say, I have a blast every time I play this game on it, even if I rarely play it. I'm glad Nintendo decided to pay homage to this game in Mario Kart 8 to make the younger players aware that this game existed
It is mind-blowing how much games have developed since my childhood. I used to spend hours on this game just trying to get my jumps right. Now all the games are 3D and have online multiplayer and u can get patches and download updates and mods and all kinds of shit. The difference is really huge. Massive improvement.
I wouldn't call today's games massive improvements, if anything they are cheap movie like games with storylines that just drag on and on, while the game itself drags on and on like a slog. Games were meant to be quick, like a hit of dopamine, RPG's pretty much started the trend towards longer gaming, besides the adventure games that did the same thing. Plus a lot of these modern games are half assed and half finished when you get them, little to no time in regard is given to bug testing teams. You then have to install the game, and either install patches if you buy the game after the bugs are ironed out, or you have to wade through a half finished piece of shit until the devs create the patches to fix shit that should've been taken care of before they release the game. Not to mention the freaking huge budgets a lot of games get these days, outside of the indie titles, most of those even are quite unimpressive. Give me something that I can beat within an hour or so, has a nice challenge level that can maybe make it longer till I get good at it, and don't spend 45 minutes trying to teach me complicated controls.
5:28 LOL!! I cried laughing when I played this as a kid just seeing the little guys rolling on the ground after they fall. Amazing game. Probably the top 10 back in the days. It even had a course maker!
Господи, аж сердце екнуло. Единственная игра которую я запомнил из детства, ну, не считая уток по которым стрелять надо было. Сколько же лет я играл в эту игру.
Sitting here with a huge ASS SMILE ON MY FACE. I remember the time when I use to play this with my brother. This is one of our favorites next to CONTRA
We are currently watching Castlevania on Netflix and my husband said this was the only game that mattered. I replied that he is wrong, Excite Bike was the only game that mattered:)
I Like that Game too much when i was kid... Its Feels really good while reading these comments . People are talking about their Childhood days i dont think new generation can underatand our feelings right?
I remember my older cousins talking about this game and how he described the excitement when he found out you could crash the opponent bikes, or how they found out smashing the A n B to run faster back after a crash . . . and later got to experience this myself via nestopia and logitech usb controller
This game is designed by Shigeru Miyamoto, and is one of the few games where he had sole design credit (along with Donkey Kong, NES Baseball, and arguably Super Mario 64). For every other game he was either a co-designer (Radar Scope, Super Mario Bros., The Lost Levels, Super Mario Bros. 3, The Legend of Zelda, Mario Bros. Arcade, NES Golf, Ocarina of Time, Star Fox, Super Mario Galaxy) or a producer aiding in development (too many games to count).
Geeez....I remember playing this game at the Aladdin Arcade in North East Mall back in the 80’s. Thanks for the stroll down memory lane and making me feel old.
Suddenly I’m 8 years old inin the 80’s and I’m in either a Pizza Hut on family night or in a laundromat while my mom does wash. How the hell did I get 42 so fast?
+Henry Kurniawan Hm. I'm almost 100% positive that version played on the title screen on the x-in1 direct TV hookup junk thing I had when I was younger. I was sure it was just some NTSC to PAL issue or something like that. Can it be some sort of anti-piracy thing? Anyone know?
Lance Overton YEAH!!! I want it back like NOW!! I'm still pissed at the neighbors dog for eating the entire gameboy. It's been 10 years since i played this awesome game It was all i played besides Star wars and pkmn.
One of my favorite NES games, and is complete nostalgia. Why? Because it or Rad Racer, don't remember which came first, is the very first game I ever attempted to play at just age 2 on a real NES (I'm 26). It gets pretty hard by time you reach Track 4. I rarely beat T5.
Unfortunately we didn't know what we had. Now its gone. Not the game, but everything else that was with it. Family, friends the innocents of the times. Gone!😭
The first thing this guy did was crashing one of the enemy bikes.
Me: Ah, I see you are a man of culture as well.

Actually, you can do that with some games. Course makers were rare back then, too. They've always been rare.
They don't make nothing like they used to.
So much fun
Also in Mach Rider you could create courses. Another great game.
Playijg with friends just having fun and no such things as toxicity in gaming
This gameplay just made me ask myself how fast I turned 30 years old. lol
Scary isn't it? Your "Third-Life Crisis!" 😅

Say what now?
To this day I still find it hilarious how you can trip the other bikers into falling. Golden simpler times man! Nostalgic!🥺🤗
How great are the tones and sound effects. Happiness to my ears.

I played this as a kid in the 2000s. I’m so glad I found this after years of searching.
I used to be an asshole biker and just crash everyone and make them fall lmao the best memories. And the only time I ever knew how to ride a bike.
Geeez....I remember playing this game at the Aladdin Arcade in North East Mall back in the 80’s. Thanks for the stroll down memory lane and making me feel old.

A forgotten classic
This is 33 years old now
Not forgotten.
Definitely not forgotten
Biggest mystery at starting point only 4 players were there but with game progress players got increase incredibly 😅
I remember how I would add crazy bumps across the whole race so that everyone would tumble from start all the way to the finish line, good times.
Did you know holding the down button helped you do wheelies. B also gave you boost at the expense of overheating
Like this game a lot, however, I challenged again and again but never won the 1st place in track 5
I remember to always hit enemies to make them roll and don't care much about winning. Then karma strikes back, lol. Good times.
Excelente ...simplemente excelente tantas horas..épocas doradas
The way he runs back to his bike when he falls 🤣 I still remember playing this when I was around 3 years old
This is my very first bike game
one of the greatest games ever
The part that made me laugh was the hill the way it tripped over on the bump and the guy comes back on the bike lol
I lol'd during the last level.
Thanks!
I did too xD
I used to have so much fun with this game and laughing my ass off as a kid just trying to infinitely crash everybody

Ha I remember I used to play this game like every day and always get bored with it in like 5 minutes.
Omg i didnt even remember i have ever played this game but when i heard the theme song and saw the bike and ramps i got instant flashbacks
0:09 love this part
This game used to piss me of sooo much when I was a kid.
The pivot of videogames industry was this golden age, it became instantly in part of pop culture.
In our lifetime, we went from this to extreme photo realistic bike racing.
thx reminded me when i was 12
One of my favorite games from the NES. Brings back memories.
esp the crashes!
Love that last song (loseer song) LOL

+AdrianDX Mine did the same. Sometimes it played the regular, but most of the times it played the looser song
wow memories right here totally forgot
This was fun until the damn console froze.
Yeah when it would flash to the purple screen then you would have to take the game out and blow air in it thinking it would get the dust out lol
Did you blow on it? Try blowing.
