Heard yesterday that Mr. Wilson passed away. I have my 7th grade Texas History class watch this video every year when we get into the Cattle industry unit. Thank you Sir for sharing your experience and your emotions with us.
The creek with no name should be named 'Wilson Creek' after the family that has lived there for generations. What a beautiful man, the kind I want. I am so blessed to have watched your video (2019 June), thank you for sharing an amazing story with so many. I love cattle drives, the old way was hard work but better for mankind and the environment. I love love love this video and this man's heart. I too have my grandparents things and know his heart.
It was heartwarming to see the love of tradition and the memories associated with his Dad and Grandad. Handled with all the respect and sensitivity it called for. Wonderfully done.
Mr. Weldon Wilson has a heritage that is to be proud of for sure, and he shows his pride. It's an honor to share the past generations of history of American's such as Weldon Wilson. Thank you for bring this story to us.
I enjoyed watching this cattle drive so much. I’m 65 and would of loved to have rode with these cowboys. The longhorns are a reminder of history, these cattle survived harsh territory and living conditions. Thank you for sharing a part of your life. I will always love the true cowboy.
Real men allow other men to show tender emotion when passion about something he loves is evident. Im 60 years old now and can be tough as nails and sensitive when the time comes. Amen ? This cowboy reminds me of me. He loves this lifestyle to no end.
Thanks for such a great Texas story. Mr. Weldon Wilson has such pride in his Longhorns as he should have. Really made me think of my cousins in Bandera County. I used to visit there as a child. Proud to be Texan, and a Longhorn cattle drive reminded me why. Texas Country Reporter was always on Sunday mornings in San Antonio. Thanks all the way around.
Oh my Heavens. I had tears going on and a lump in my throat as I watched Mr. Weldon Wilson talking about his family and his ranch. So wonderful to see someone taking so much pride in what they do and how important life growing up ranching has been to him. I'm right there with him on keeping memories flowing of the past as those were the good old days even there were bad days you had to get through, but with the Good Lord a willing and if the creek didn't rise He would get anyone through. Would love to meet Mr. Weldon Wilson to hear his stories. Must be great to just being out in the country. You keep on keeping on Mr. Wilson and keep going in high on those cattle drives. We live in Okeechobee, Florida a little cow town that is growing too fast. Miss the way it use to be. Take care and blessed be. (-: Shirley Wildes & Family
It's important not to forget the past, and to honor the memories of the ones who are gone. Those cowboys may have snow on the roof but they still have a little spring in their step. I for one would love to see a cattle drive in person, and I most likely never will in my lifetime.
This man's passion is infectious. Just think how our world would be if we all let our passions shine like this individual-a beautiful and loving place.
What an awesome man and a terrific video, it's not work if you love what you're doing and I have a feeling this man has never worked a day in his life, if you get my meaning, God bless him
Mr. Wilson is one of many breeds that are fading away, this video almost made me cry I got to say. Wish Mr. Wilson plenty more years of strength to do what he loves now.
My grandfather was a world champion roper and my dad ended up being a slick...and im back in the saddle an entire generation later working cows and roping. Its a good life and this old cowboy knows what it means to be a REAL cowboy
Thats just so awesome to see all the cows and horses working together with the skill of the cowboys moving them.Beautiful animals and a man with years of good wisdom and reflection on the past.Wow!
I’m 67 years old living in eastern central Texas. I too am living on and ranching ranch land that my dad and granddad farmed and ranched. I grew up here and have so many memories of my dad and granddad working cattle on horseback. I can very well understand the tears in this mans eyes and the emotions. We’re a dwindling bread. Good story!
cattle drive... in Spain ruclips.net/video/FDvipSJbOCM/видео.html and driving cattle down along a Roman bridge and a 2000-year-old " Roman road" ruclips.net/video/nNkLe6Mknnw/видео.html
The boys at glen innes, nsw, australia, do the same. Never let the business die. Ok. Not long horn but cows on the road herded by horse is a beautiful sight. :). Keep it up.
Being around Weldon was a highlight of our family reunion each year at that same box car. We called it the box car reunion. Last week Weldon died of covid. He is survived by Kay, his wife, and sons Van, and Steven. God rest his soul. We'll join him in an everlasting reunion soon
God bless you, sir, While not a cowboy myself, born in the wrong place and the wrong time, I have always had a deep respect for the cowboy, I hope the cowboy way of life never disappears
Hi Larry, same feeling with me. A nice cup of coffee done in a can over an open fire. I could listen to him talk about his life and the olden days for many times.
Being able to see this cattle drive in person is now #1 on my bucket list. The only thing that will make this cattle drive absolutely perfect is if Mr. Wilson moves these longhorns when the wildflowers are in bloom...bluebonnets, longhorns, & wooden fences doesn't get more Texas than that.
That old timer is indeed a true Patriots of Texas Mr Wilson you are indeed a true blue cowboy you will be marks the 7th year I'm here passing sir and we miss you and sure do need you😢😢.🤠🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thank you for sharing this. These things are what is missing in peoples lives. It’s where they went wrong. I wish I could keep these traditions alive myself but I don’t have this life he lives. Maybe one day I can but the one to carry on after me will not be blood related. None of my blood deserve it. Neither of my children hold family sacred or traditions sacred. God bless him and his family.
Interesting story. We have ranching tradition in California, too, but these days it is hard to find. People tend to forget where their dinner comes from when they can go to a big grocery store and buy meat in a plastic package. Tradition counts for a lot, whether people realize it. For everything there is a season. Thanks for sharing.
I'm a Louisiana boy from the suburbs, my dad was raised in the country around cattle and riding horses, he became a bull rider and eventually quit and became an IT specialist, my grandma lived and was raised in the country around horses and animals, she still lives there and I love seeing her neighbor's pony every time I visit. When I get out of the military and college, I build enough money from doing computer programming work, I want to own my own ranch. I wanted to do bull riding but I never went through with it, just recently changing my mind since I couldn't put my family though that, and potentially ruin my chances at the Naval Academy, and my future at such a young age.
I would be interested to know more about the 'Long Horn Cattle'. Are there names for them according to the colours, or horn size? Other farm animals have names like that as, roan, blue, dappled...etc. These cattle are very special, and I hope that the family continues to keep them pure and loved as, Mr Wilson does. God bless him and his family and farm.
In 2009, the Texas Legislature made theft of less than 10 head of cattle or other livestock a third-degree felony punishable by up to 10 years in state prison
Quite an emotional old dude. I bet the real old cowboys wouldn't have shed too many tears though reminiscing. On a long drive it was no doubt bloody hard work for not much pay. Stubborn cattle, flies, dust, heat, probably hired hands that were hard to get along with & dangerous at times. Could imagine the chow being pretty good though, coz the drovers would be mighty pissed off if the food was crap. Ppl tend to romantice history. Fact is if those cowhands could come back & tell ya, most of em would some it up by saying "its just work". Still, its a wonderful period of American history.🐂🐎🇺🇸
The old ways of living gave us good heath, family unity, help thy neighbor and the best we could ever receive the best bond and teachings for our children 😪 sadly it's true we are letting go of the best tradition way of living 😪 THE COW'S HAVE THE RIGHTER WAY THAT'S TEXAS FOR YAH I JUST LOVE MY TEXANS 🥰👍 God Bless our Texans 😪🙏❤️
I Love it,I love the longhorns, they are gorgeous. There may be longhorns in other parts of the world. But TEXAS LONGHORNS are so majestic & I love em,Such beaitiful creatures. Its always been a dream for me to go to a ranch or farm & to experience the country life.I wona ride horses, milk cows, collect fresh eggs from the chicken coupe, well, maybe 1 day,who knows❤❤❤❤

Moving to Texas in 2 weeks, i know i will love that state.
Makes me proud to be a Texan! Thank you for the video. Keep on driving those cattle Mr. Wilson.
It ain't about big shiny buckles or bull riding. Being a cowboy is about working cattle. Love seeing this stuff still going on. God bless y'all!
may God bless you, Mr. W Wilson...
God bless my Texas people. This moved me.
Ahhhh man!!! Breaks my heart!!! I feel the same!!!! Bunch of good old memories!!! The family goes never to come back, what aaah pain!!!

Sad that he passed away on Tuesday. :( he was my great uncle, my grandmother is Kay’s sister.
Proud to have attended church with him and kay a few years ago, loved them. He was always a really sweet person.
I just love watching this video yes it bring back memories of my days in Texas when I left home at a young man
Wonderful video. Makes me home sick for sure. God Bless Texas1

Beautiful video! I have lived in the Dallas area for 20 years. This is the Texas I want to discover. I need to get out of the city!
Great story and video!
Happiness is being able to do what you love to do and being able to go places and still do things even at his age which I'm pretty close to
My grandfather was a world champion roper and my dad ended up being a slick...and im back in the saddle an entire generation later working cows and roping. Its a good life and this old cowboy knows what it means to be a REAL cowboy
Mr. Wilson should be inducted into the Cowboy Hall of Fame at Ft. Worth Stockyard.

Texas is always my home
It's the one thing I want to see when I visit Cowboy Country.Awesome.
Watched this in 2020. What an uplifting story.
A cowboy in touch with his feelings and his past. Don't make them like they used to. Great bit of reporting
I would love to sit down and have a good cup of coffee with him
Larry Kent or a beer
Hi Larry, same feeling with me. A nice cup of coffee done in a can over an open fire. I could listen to him talk about his life and the olden days for many times.

Beautiful, just beautiful.
