Thanks for your very well-explained video. I saw a lady with one of these on her mat, and decided to make one myself. Your video has been extremely helpful and I look forward to making it.
Aw yay glad you like it! Ooo that’s a tough one, it’s hard to figure out measurements for a different size cord without actually making it. I’d made add on 2m to each of the two 10m cords to make them 12m each and then see how I go 🤔 hopefully that works out fine, you’d rather have too much cord left over than not enough 🤞🏻
@@lunacraftsonline 👋 thank you for answering so fast. You explained it very well ! And I agree ,it is better to have more cord than not enough. Happy to know you understood what I wrote. Merci have a great day or night sleep. Here in Quebec it’s 2:05 am September 2. Ok thx again 🙋♀️
@@chantalsaulnier2746 you shouldn’t need to change the length of the middle cords, you just need the extra added length to go on the outer two cords ☺️👏🏻 have a good weekend!
Sorry for the super late reply, I’ve only just seen your comment! The length without a yoga mat in is about 155cm, and with a yoga mat the length varies depending on how thick the mat is! 😋
Ooo it’s very hard to get the measurements right when using a different sized cord but I like to verge on the side of having too much cord just incase. If it were me I’d probably add on 50-60cm or so onto each working cord (not adding to the filler cords in the middle). Hopefully that would be enough as you’d rather have too much than too little 🤞🏻 It’s up to you if you want to add more just incase, you can always use up the leftover cords for other stuff, I have a playlist called scrap cord projects which shows what you can make using the leftover cords 😊
I’ve started and undone this three times my husband has been next to me trying to figure it out too! One of my sides keeps ending up short. From what we can tell from the video, the same cord keeps getting passed through over and over so in turn that one keeps ending up getting shorter
Sorry you’re having trouble with it, they were the measurements that worked out perfect for me but if you’re still having trouble with it feel free to cut your initial cords a bit longer to ensure you have enough length. Sometimes the square knots can be uneven which can cause the cords to shorten on one side as that cord is favoured more so I like to always make sure I’m making the knots as evenly as possible so the cords use the same amount of cm’s per knot. Hope you are able to make it somehow! ☺️
I'm a little confused... You say 2x's 10m in the video, but in the description you said 2 x's 32 ft. Those measurements are very different. What is the correct length of chord to use?
I use cm and metres as measurement, so 10 metres is correct, in the description I always add the measurements of each cord in ft & inches for the parts of the world that don’t measure in cm and metres :) so 10m of cord converted to ft is 32 ft. Hope that helps!
It is quite difficult to show/explain 😅 But you want to pass the cords through the hoop like I do at 5:52 and then put the cords back through the hoop like I show at around 6:20, you should then have formed that loop that I show at around 6:23/24. And then attach the cords with a wrapping/gathering knot like I show later on to secure it all and finish the strap. The loop that you form in the wooden hoop is important as that’s where you place your mat 😅 I hope this helps explain it a bit!😊
You can find the list of measurements in cm at the 0:05 mark of the video and pause it to write them down ☺️ I always include the cm’s in my video portion as that’s the measurement I work in ☺️
The wooden hoops slide up and down the cord to make loops, so you pop them over the ends of your rolled up mat and then the weight of the mat will tighten the loops and secure around your mat 😊
155 cm doesn't seem long enough to put a yoga mat in and hang it over your shoulder? thank you for making the centre strings shorter.... otherwise you end up with wasted long tails at the end.
It’s long enough for me to hang comfortably over one shoulder with my yoga mat in, but I’m 5’3 so I’m quite short! If you want you can make your cords longer to make sure you have a longer finished strap ☺️

Awesome!!!! That’s exactly what I’m looking for. But I need to know the measurements if I use a 4 mm cord, please. Thank you again 🇨🇦💖👍

Maybe even 1.5m onto each one just in case 😅

brilliant...thanks for a great idea and tutorial

Do you think single strand can be used? Would it make much of a difference?
Hiya, yes I think single strand would work fine too! Should look lovely 😊
Thank you! I enjoy watching your videos.
Thanks for the video! How long did it take to make approximately? :)
You’re welcome! It probably took about an hour or so but I watched Netflix at the same time so I took it nice and slow :)
