*A lone red engi sits on the stairs near his spawn, the lights off, burned out long ago. No other players in the game remain. 15 minutes earlier he had to suffer through another wave of bots, spamming "GAME DEAD LOL"*
*A blu demo spawns in, casting a sly remark that he queued into another small match*
*The demo wanders, until he finds the engi, sitting on the stairs that led to the red intel room.*
*He sits next to the engi.*
"I imagine this is what's left of the casual player base," The demo says. "Rest of 'em moved to the remaining community servers."
The engi remains silent.
"This spot must be where you placed yer sentries 'fore the game died."
"The only good thing this several decade old map had was the spots you could place stuff and see enemies run straight into it." The engi responded, sorrowful.
It was silent for a minute.
"Yer being too negative, this game was fun while it lasted. Look at the thousands of clip dumps people made in its prime, those were funny." The demo argued.
"Everything the community made that Valve added didn't make them keep updating it. Once they stopped the seasonal updates, lots of people became pessimistic. Just when people think they have it on track, it slips right between their fingers, like an uncooked piece of bacon with butterfingers." The engi explained.
"They should've seen it coming, everything has to end at some point." The demo remarked.
"There's only so much a community can do until it dissolves. Everyone knew this would happen, it's long due." The engi continued.
"At least, we can still enjoy the memories it gave us, online, in our brains, or in a photograph someone printed." The demo finished.
Time passed, but no one counted. Hours, days? Even a few seconds?
"It's about time I headed to Dustbowl in a community server," the engi finally stood.
"I'll meet ya there, lad. Nobody can defend the point alone there." The demo replied.

Dude this SFM is amazing, The details of the map and somber and sad feeling of what came before is just beautiful. Not to mention this version of Mary on a cross, Whatever you did make it so smooth and saddening is something I want on my playlist lol

It makes me feel so freaking weird, because my first map in tf2 i ever play was actually Turbine, it's been 11 years bro, time flies...
same, I joined recently and thankfully the bots werent completely shit
It reminds me of fun times when i was a noob in TF2, my first dance with some guy with unushual, i remember even what unushual it has been, Aviator Assassin with disco beat down effect, we won that match, and i never saw this spy again. And now, having 2k hours in tf2, having inventory on 500+$, i still remember him, and doing the same, supporting New players and having fun with them.

MonkeyQuest is gone, Warcraft 3 and the World Editor (War3 is like the best I've seen thus far for an evergreen formula of sorts, has good campaign, multiplayer and community stuff, the World Editor was like Halo's Forge), Starcraft 1 and WoL (universe is probably never gonna get any major updates and I fear if it does since it's modern Blizzard), Red Alert 2, Battlefield 2, Halo Custom Edition (the PC port thingy), CS 1.6, old 1.5 - 1.7.10 Minecraft especially modded, Minecraft Pocket Edition when it didn't have the license check so you could just share it to everyone at school, all the old Minecraft cracked and not cracked servers, some of them are just gone now. I wish I had properly saved all my screenshots.
A lot of this stuff for me had been in a time bubble of sorts, when things got more modern in our place in the world, I realised how much of the world had already gone by. Though of course, not everything. Still, I did feel a bit more empty ever since.

This makes me think about how the mercs won't be together forever. They were thrown together to fight over gravel for two old men and probably gained some level of friendship with each other. I don't know if the final comic will ever be made at this point, but I kinda hope they stay together in some way at the end.
Granted, some (most?) of the mercs would be dead by now. Medic was supposed to have died a few years ago since his extra 50 years were up unless he kept adding souls to keep scamming the devil. I imagine he would.

My biggest regret is not being there for TF2’s prime. I never saw it, and I most likely never will. I was six when I first started watching TF2 content, and it was such a major part of my life it basically became part of my personality. It took 5 years of slowly convincing my parents to finally let me play TF2, then several more years to get access to a computer I could play on. I’m 16 now, and not playing for so long is my only genuine regret.

As soon as the screen changed from an abandoned turbine to a turbine of the past and the song was greatly amplified, my head flinched unknowingly. What a creepy production!
Dawg, Turbine is my favorite map of all time. I had a server leave completely because of the bots and I was the only one left. The only reason I didn't leave was because I had a contract with Engi and actually held my own against them until they all left.
*For at least 15 whole minutes, I just sat in the main area wondering when it will all be fixed.*

It was nearing the end of the war, both teams had agreed on peace, they basically waited until the war was over, which was not long, the last day finally came, war was about to be over, but then it happened.
Th e Robot Army had stormed into CTF_turbine, killing most people there, spy and a few others survived, most importantly a Medic, other survivors included a RED scout, a BLU soldier, a RED Heavy, and a BLU pyro.
Spy overlooked the scene of Turbine for one final time, he teared up as he remembered the pain and sufferings of himself, and his comrades.
We need more people to contine this trend

I almost shed tears seeing this. All the memories. The fact that this one Great pillar of shooters is decaying and all we can do is watch with no way out. As time passes everyone will eventually move on.
While the fanbase is strong for now. As the years go by and valve continues to barley glance at us.. I fear that in 5-15 years from now. Tf2 will become another Day of defeat. A forgotten game only reminisced by millennials and some Gen Z who were lucky enough to experience this 7th gen masterpiece. Watching as the gaming industry moves forward. Leaving tf2 to the era of time and just another line of text in video game history.
And as much as it hurts. All things come to an end. While tf2 will one day die, and wether you like to admit it or not, a lot sooner than many would like to think…
So let’s enjoy the remaining time we have with this game. Cheers to tf2 and it’s last years as a major player in video game history. You may one day die but we’ll never forget you

It's funny how the teams of mercenaries they hired to kill each other in a war over gravel ended up enjoying the time more until they became friends with each other so much that when the war finally ended everyone felt empty and nostalgic.
