I drive 2020, it's got 102k miles on it and havent had any issues. Just do oil changes regularly. Started driving it when it had 13k miles on it.
i do have 2020 lt with 197k miles on it….i suggest once u reach the 80k miles just keep change the transmission fluid and flash every year and oil change twice a year…
Damn all of those transmission problems with only 15k miles? Thank goodness you guys had a warranty.
What a lot of people don't realize is The Traverse (newer and older) It's the largest SUV in this segment before going into the full-size The engine and transmission is used throuhout the GM line Like Buick, GMC, Chevrolet and Cadillac SUV's in this category. So it's pretty reliable but of course not perfect. I have a 2022 GMC Acadia using the same engine and transmission. So that's that, I've owned since new May of 2022. It rides Good! One last thing The Traverse tows up to 5000 pounds with the tow package. That's pretty good for this category of mid-sized SUV. 👍🏼
I bought my 2018 Traverse High Country (same color) new. It now has 44k miles. I encountered the transmission shudder at 28k miles. The dealer updated the TCM software and changed the transmission fluid, which fixed the problem(under warranty). I also had the sift to park error message at 38k miles, which cost me $389. Otherwise my only maintenance cost has been oil changes and state inspections. So in 5.5 years and 44K miles I had a $400 repair. My Traverse has averaged 21.5 miles MPG over its life. My previous car was a well equipped 2007 Cadillac DTS and my Traverse is superior to it in regards to comfort(especially on long trips), technology and utility. I anticipate holding onto my Traverse for 10-11 years and putting on about 90k to 100k miles on it, which is what I have done with my previous GM vehicles.
I never like vehicles with sunroof they’re just notorious for leaking and going out prematurely. I got the 2018 Traverse LT AWD version. It’s been a dream ride for me with very little issues. The one feature that I didn’t like very much is the built in navigation which I think could be better implemented. Other than doing the routine regular maintenance myself at home, it’s been great for me.
My 2018 Traverse has 90k miles I haven’t had any issues I’ve been on top of my oil changes
The Acadia/Enclave/Traverse have had the torque converter shudder problem since the 2008 model. My 2012 Enclave needed a torque converter. I cannot believe GM is still shafting customers with the newer models.
Transmissions creates heat when lugging. Increase engine rpms by down shifting it increases Transmission fluid flow thereby reducing heat. Aka tow/haul mode
Tow / haul mode was always engaged in the situation I had described in the video.
My 2020 Traverse has 20,00 miles on it. Since purchasing it, brakes continue to grind occasionally with the first couple applications particularly in wet, damp atmospheric conditions. Dealership mechanic told me it's nothing to be concerned about. Had rear axle replaced at about 15,000 miles for leaking boot. Other than that, I like the vehicle, a black on black High Country trim level. The 3 year bumper to bumper warranty expires in a month. I am leery of extended warrantys, so hoping no major issues arise.
I hate the body color trim on the outside. I'd prefer the black exterior trim mold better as it just look much better. I have the 2018 AWD 3LT with the tow package. Let's just hope no big issues arise later on down the line. Been driving it for a while now and I love my 2018 traverse. Runs and drive smooth. The shift is very responsive. It's got everything that I want in a real suv. It's the perfect size suv for me. Unlike all these other midsize suv that just look smaller and very compact with mediocre features. The high country version just didn't seem like the best bang for the buck as some of them features are something that I can live without.
I drilled out the rivets on the rear sunroof sunshade clip after it broke twice and replaced it with one I made from a small piece of sheet metal and it hasn't broken since.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience and I'm sorry to hear you went through so much trouble with this vehicle I'm glad it was covered mostly under the warranty I had to tell you that I bought a 10-year-old Toyota Sequoia and I drove that vehicle for another 10 years and I only had one problem that cost me about $1,000 rest of that vehicle was completely regular maintenance

Only issue with my 2018 3lt rear AC line corroded. $2000 fix.. besides that hiccup all is good
All those problems at 15,000 miles? Thats crazy! I had a 2013 traverse and my torque converter needed replacement at 120,000 miles
Can I ask how much did you pay for replacing torque converter for your 2013 Traverse?
Just had a catalytic converter replaced under warranty on a 21 Enclave. Other than that the occasional shudder when accelerating. This seems to happen when under mid throttle scenarios.
Keep an eye on the shudder, it will probably get worse. Started out light with us and then got worse over time. Just jave them check it out while you are under warranty.

Knocking on wood here, but after all the repairs got done we've hadn't had anymore issues as of today. Currently sitting at 16k miles on it.

What has been your average running temp for the transmission? If i'm on a 4 or more hour trip (especially in the western part of the states) it seems to run around 210-220, is this your normal temp as well? Thanks for your review. We still love our 2018, but just surprised with tranny temp.
not exactly sure of the number right now but I?m pretty sure it's below 200° F when not towing anything. I have the towing package on it so maybe that helps keeps the temp down because you get the additional trans cooler? Does yours have the towing package? I've read online that "modern transmission should run hotter" but I'm not so sure I really believe that.
@@HubersRanch My traverse does not have the tow package, and it only get above 210 on 4 hour plus trips through western US. (i drove from Virginia to the Midwest and it only got up to 200 on the 9 hour journey). I had the fluid changed 2 years ago under the service bulletin, and the mechanic at the dealer told me that due to the thinner fluid it would get about 10 degrees hotter. I was just curious if you had the same effect, but i realize you have an extra cooling system that my tranny does not. Thanks for the reply
That's a little too high. Mine only goes up to 172 - 180.
I’m not sure how you can be happy with a car with transmission problems and only 50,000 miles. I’m thinking another update will reveal different opinions
18k miles, not 50k. Well it happened under warranty. All new cars are junk, not much you can do about it.
@HubersRanch which sucks, my dad's truck work which was a silverado 2500 05 was passed down to me at 150k miles and I'm not pushing 400k miles. Mind you it was worked in and abused to a degree. Only thing I've had to do is an alternator swap, new plugs and belts. But 587 dollars worth of work has taken me 250k more miles which I'm shocked at. Seeing all these issues in new vehicles in general now is just sad because most of these will probably just turn into money pits after 100k miles
Yeah it's like we are back in the 60s and 70s where vehicles were basically trash after 100k miles and anything above that was just a blessing.
Any new issues now? Was looking to join the chevy club soon.
So we are at ~19300 miles now, only thing really new is the occasional "shift to park" error thar now shows up when you are in park and want to shut off the car. Press the shifter button a few times clears that up. Still the most spacious in this class unless you step up to a full size SUV.

Between 54k to 108k with regular maintenance already had to change catalytic converse, broken muffler bracket and a oil leak on the timing cover. Smh
Typical chevy and ford problems 6f 6g are terrible transmissions i went through 2 replacement in less than 2 years
Traverse has always been garbage! GM isn’t what it use to be! They will have problems indefinitely! Hopefully you catch them while under warranty! Once warranty is up , get rid of it! They don’t last at all!

@@HubersRanch Yea unfortunately! My wife loves the Traverse so in in 2012 was our first. Riddled with problems right out of the gate! Did it again in 2020 and with less than 30000 miles it was in and out of service department constantly. Both the 2012 and 2020 models were a dud for us! Everything we drive now is Japanese! Didn’t want to go that route but can’t beat the reliability! GM is going to 💩 literally!
What kind of issues did you have with the 2020?
I have a 2012 Buick Enclave. 1st the power steering pump went bad because the line between the engine and firewall wore through and drained the fluid. Then a water pump went. Then both rear wheel bearings. Then the alternator. Then at last the torque converter. 😢 Plus it hold 6 qts of oil and burns about 3 qts between changes. I have to dump in a quart every 1000 miles now. Is this just the norm for GM products?
Our 2019 burns no oil and has been really good to us. I know the previous generation had tons of issues. This one can have issues with the transmission, yes. If you read the fine print, most manufacturers now say burning 1 QT of oil per 1000 miles is acceptable. It's just the world we live in, sadly. Prices on everything go up, and quality goes down.
