A key assumption of this analysis is that there isn't something happening between now and the 2026 elections that could upset the current political alignment of voters. The shift towards Trump in some demographics due to inflation and the border shows that not all voters are hermitically sealed in their tribes. Trump's implementation of Project 2025, his promised tax cuts for billionaires, the economic impact of mass deportations and his trade wars could have disastrous consequences on the economy impacting voters. Of course in such an event, senators and members of congress will try to have voters believe that they were against the Trump agenda all along, but just maybe enough voters won't believe them to have some surprise losses amongst Republican senators up for re-election
The economy drove many from blue states into red states for lower prices, and lower taxes, and in search of jobs. These shifts will ultimately change the apportionments of each state, and their Electoral vote allotments after the next Census. Democrat's future Electoral paths are shrinking, while the GOP's is getting smoother. In TX (+4), FL (+3), CA (-4), and NY (-3), those are the future shifts in EC vote allotments based on current demographic trends that show no signs of slowing, nor reversing. That opens up an extra 14 vote gap in the GOP's favor in future elections.
I mean the senate going forward is going to really hard for dems to win a majority. If u remove the 14 senators from the 7 swing states the republicans get 48 from their “safe” states and thus only need to hold 3 of the 14 swing state senators if they don’t have the presidency and 2 of 14 if they do have it. That includes North Carolina as a swing state which it technically is but almost never goes for dems nationally.
Believe it or not, NC will be solid red in 2028. As will the other six swing states. A new set of swing states will emerge based on the seismic demographic shift to the right, along with the 2024 Election results. They will very likely be NH, MN, NM, VA, and NJ. The Democrat's nightmare is just beginning, folks.
It should still be D. Elisa Slotkin won in a tough 2024 election, even in a GOP-favorable environment. In 2026, the environment will be more favorable for Ds (even if only moderately). Though Republicans can win if they nominate a strong candidate who's not MAGA
I don't know. TODAY this analysis would be right. in 2 years though... The whole landscape probably has changed. Look how much has changed in 2 weeks of his Blitzkrieg. Maybe Leopards have eaten enough faces by then that all calculations will have changed.
I think if Sherrod Brown runs for Ohio senate special in 2026, he has a decent shot at winning. He lost by just 3.5% when Harris lost the state by 11.2%. And 2024 was overall a bad year for Democrats.
@nethansingbeil356 On the other hand, Ohio is pretty red these days. Some corruption with First Energy as well as screwing over victims of clergy sex abuse when he was Speaker of the House in Ohio may be features not bugs for him.
@@MrJon92asIt’s not about him stopping elections. It’s about him rigging elections in his favor. He basically admitted to doing it in the 2024 election.
I would say it's too early to make any predictions about anything. the only thing I will say is right now, the way trump is acting, I don't see a path to him making the lives of most voters better. that is rarely a good thing for the party in power. So, while I will agree on paper this is the republicans race to lose, keep in mind trump is rarely an aid to his party down ballot (2016 and 2024 being notable exceptions). So, while I would say Michigan is an interesting development, I wouldn't worry about it too much until things start to take shape. because it's possible it might be a grain of rice weighed against a fully grown blue whale.
6:20 I would also say the environment HEAVILY disadvantaged the incumbent party, and trump won by very minor numbers. Michigan has been trending blue, so I would caution against using an anomaly to predict a trend. As an aside, could someone please explain Texas to me? because otherwise I officially give up with that state!
@PetePineda i don't think I personal ever said that. I was hopeful he wouldn't (because look around), but I don't think I ever said it wasn't possible.
The GOP will gain a Senate seat, and maybe two, in 2026. The Dems must hold all theirs, and take a bunch of GOP seats. Their chances are slim, but not impossible. In 2028, it gets MUCH harder for Dems. After that, they are in real trouble until 2034 at the earliest.
Michigan is turning red and likely will not be a swing state any longer in 2028. This is turning into a real opportunity for the GOP to pick up an unexpected seat!
@@JohnL-qe4pi GOP could well end up with 55 seats in the senate, come 2026, that would essentially doom democrats for a decade in the senate. Nevada, Arizona and Pennsylvania is also heading to the right, 3 seats they are very likely to lose in 2028, they aren't making up for that elsewhere.

What makes you think there will be any more elections?
Give it time. 2026 is dog yrs in politics but more like an eternity when u factor in Trump so u never know
I don't know.
Bernie Moreno was also, in my opinion, not a very strong candidate overall. I do think the new senator (Husted?) is probably a bit stronger.
@nethansingbeil356 Husted's got a lot of baggage that can be used against him in attack ads.
@@ginzo666 Ah, I was not aware of that. Thank you.
@nethansingbeil356 On the other hand, Ohio is pretty red these days. Some corruption with First Energy as well as screwing over victims of clergy sex abuse when he was Speaker of the House in Ohio may be features not bugs for him.
Ha, this guy thinks we’re going to have legit elections by 2026
How do you think Trump will be able to abolish the 2026 elections successfully?
Yeah. But you would have said “the way Trump is acting he wouldn’t be able to win the Presidency”. And he did. Bigly.
@PetePineda i don't think I personal ever said that.
I was hopeful he wouldn't (because look around), but I don't think I ever said it wasn't possible.
Orapko for Senate!!!!!
I think the Republicans will lose the house and Senate in 2026
If dems wants to lose this seat, nominate Pete, i guess.
Wow now 🤣
