  • Disney has engaged in a board battle with Disney CEO Bob Iger Vs investor Nelson Peltz. While the Disney+ streaming giant has been releasing Marvel movies and Star Wars series like the Acolyte, an investor takeover for 2 board seats has been ongoing in Disney. The Disney board tried to resist this, but could the new people and ideas save the Disney company? Does Bob Iger know what's best for Disney? Will Star Wars the Acolyte be worth watching without him?

With the Disney board trying to fend off Nelson Peltz getting a board seat to get another voice apart from Bob Iger in the room, it's been an interesting investor call. The votes are in and Nelson Peltz lost, taking Disney's last chance with them. Bob Iger may make promises, but does he even understand the problem? Is he capable of it? Supposedly in an incredibly strong time for Disney as Disney+ is still losing money alongside their movies, what are the investors thinking? Far from being happy with Disney, the questions during the call were largely antagonistic. Yet as Bob Iger won, his acceptance speech basically doubled down on more of the same for Disney. And with the acolyte on the way, it seems there is no change of direction for Disney through 2026 given Bob Iger's continuing contract. How much lower can Disney sink? Let me know your thoughts down below and as always, thanks for watching :)

Who knows if the votes were even counted fairly? You said it, "their morals are settled", they believe they are the good guys and they are fighting evil. And would you think it "improper" to miscount votes to keep "true evil" away from your boardroom?
When the tide turns on these people, it won't even be a fight, considering it's "1,000 billionaire ruling elites" vs "billions of humans, including police and military". And I think the genocide in Gaza has woken some people up to their alignment with the establishment.
Some saw the Divide and Conquer culture wars that sprung out of nowhere during Occupy Wall St (there's even a study of how media bombarded us with white v black articles, because we blocked their private cars and garages on wall st).
Some saw it when the pandemic hit and we were blatantly lied to, over and over. Things that got you fired, and your bank account closed, one day...were said by the corporate media, the next day.
We were gaslit, told to "follow the science" like some all-powerful cult. Thousands of doctors were shunned, and are shunned to this day, simply for asking questions or raising concerns, let alone speaking from experience.
The corporate media's biggest advertisement buyers: Pharmaceutical Conglomerates - the medical journals they own or fund - the thousands of politicians in their pocket. They locked us down, eradicated any form of treatment that wasn't profitable for them. (They tried to smear Vitamin D ffs)
And they literally changed the definition of "whack scene" to fit the experimental gene therapy that mandated, forced us, to administer to ourselves.
The largest transfer of wealth in our history. Small businesses eradicated while the billionaire ruling elite class grew larger and larger.
They called our neighbors "yahtzees", made us hate each other, while they literally saluted Yahtzee war criminals.
They sent our taxes to a country they overthrew. A coup committed by literal Yahtzees, that shot medics and priests, and women and children. Yahtzees that locked city workers in their building, lit it on fire, and laughed and video taped as their own women were burning alive, trying to break out...
They took advantage of the most corrupt nation in Europe, with the lowest economic prosperity, because it has 30% of Europe's wheat, oil and pipelines, and because it borders a nation that our rulers want to plunder. A nation that hasn't done anything to us, and yet we are bred to hate it...despite not knowing a thing about it...and no one is rushing to educate us...shouldn't they want us to know who we "hate"?
The people that wanted to end corruption, instead got a coup, led by very proud Yahtzees, and instead of an end to corruption...they got bloodshed...and a decimated population. The people that wanted to separate from this coup, return to the nation they belonged to...not more than one generation ago...those people were attacked by terrorists...slaughtered by hundred thousand or more...
If a Yahtzee-led nation, with cancelled elections, and a decimated population that's down to its average fighting men being age 44-45, if that's not enough...we now have a genocide.
May be this genocide will finally lift the veil for our fellow countrymen. Once they see the lies of the establishment, they'll look at the next thing...and the next....and the next. They'll be taken aback by the amount of blatant lies...lies to cover evil.
And once our neighbors see our billionaire elite ruling class for what it is...they'll see the ideological social engineering for what it is... And the people that went along with these lies to further their own interests, their jobs, their social status...

I don't think their parks are dying just yet. Their cruising lines are and so are their hotels but so far they have used the income from the parks to cover all of their failing projects.
The problem with their parks is that they are not really improving them much while their competitors have improved theirs, instead Disney have been jacking up the prices to a ludicrous level.
So they might start dying in a few years but as of now, they are the only thing that Disney have that actually brings in money.
Investing the money into the failing projects instead of the parks is indeed a downwards spiral, not only are their not improving their parks at the rate they need to compete with other parks like Universal for instance but they are also using the money to double down on things that doesn't work instead of stopping or trying to fix the issues.
Honestly, they are very soon at a point where they should get rid of Star wars and Marvel, hire back Lassiter for Pixar and get rid of the more problematic employees there and focus on the parks and maybe an animated movie every other year. Iger have bought up far too much that they don't know how to earn money on and now he use the majority of their income for things that are pretty much doomed to fail instead trying to improve what still works.
Let's face it, the Star wars IP is dead. Marvel is dying even though it is still at a level where they could turn things around but that window of time is closing fast. The cruise lines isn't working, that entire industry is having huge problems. Their hotels are not doing well since they are too overpriced. Pixar's problem is that the people in charge of it have no clue what they are doing and firing Lassiter for hugging people was a bad move but that can be fixed by apologizing to him and re-hire him with a higher salary, it would be worth it.
Disney animated studios needs to get rid of a lot of people they hired based on DEI.
And yeah, that is not even mentioning Bob's political message they of course also needs to get rid off. Not all parts of Disney's empire is even possible to fix at the moment but the longer they take to realize they screwed up and double down while blaming basically everyone else for the troubles, the more of their IPs will die just like Indy and Willow.

  • @SammEater

People speaking extemporaneously don't talk like that, and even people giving practiced speeches use contractions--if they know the material and give a shit about not sounding like they're just spouting out the words someone else wrote. I don't know what it says about Iger that he didn't care enough to try to make his "q & a" sound like real answers to genuine questions, but whatever it means, it's not good.

Re Iger's claim that they dominated the Oscars with 20 nominations, I had to look to see just what their noms were, since the top winner of the night was Universal, not Disney. Of the 20 acting nominees, Disney had just 2 - both for Poor Things, which wasn't even made directly by Disney, but by its subsidiary, Searchlight. Poor Things made up 11 of Disney's noms. Searchlight also got a nom for Flamin' Hot (best song). 2 noms were for The Creator, which likewise was made by another studio under Disney, 20th Century. They were also nommed for the flop Dial of Destiny, lol (for John Williams), Elemental, Guardians of the Galaxy 3 (best fx), plus 2 short docs and 1 doc feature. Disney had 5 wins- all of which were by Searchlight.

Wasn't the core of their model for the longest time that they work very hard on making very good product, and then if it was successful as they hoped they milked the hell out of it with toys and rides and clothes and trinkets and crap? So... _How the Emperor got his Groove Back_ merely made its money back, so they mitigated loss by _not_ dumping product on the market. Disney was Disney and would always at least break even; the true profit was spotting their successes and doing all the merchandising.
The new shotgun/waterhose method of pumping out tons of crap and trying to make money _in the cinema or streaming services_ - both of which are hemorrhaging money - is such a losing strategy. Weirder still, Disney didn't invent the "milk it for merchandising" model, but they did master and perfect it.

The groups like Blackrock and Vanguard that own the majority of shares are not interested in making money. They already own all of it. “This is about forcing behavior”- Larry Fink, Blackrock CEO

It's not about balance sheets in 2024. It's about driving us off a cliff so they can *own* us all after the fallout.

The ship is sinking, so punch more holes in the bottom to let the water out. That is the Bob Iger strategy for Disney.

May Disney continue to lose money until they finally see the error of their ways, or when they run out of money, whichever comes first

I’m old enough to remember the 1970’s when Disney made a couple of cheap live action (like the Herbie movies… harmless fun) and 1-2 animated movies a year while it refocused and reimagined its products. The 70’s were a dark time, but it dug itself out.
Not sure it can do that again. The rot is too deep. At least back in the day they were aiming 100% for profit.

Dude! I finally know where the "that's gaslighting" clip came from! As a highly trained computer tech and Avid ACSR, finding G.N. is amazing! I've been watching his videos for a couple of hours now. Oh, great video btw 🙂 - Loudboy2112

Sony missed the opportunity of having her in a tight Spidergirl suit. That would certainly save a little bit of that mess.

You know the “Everything‘s fine“ meme? The main where the dog is sitting on a table, and the house is on fire.
Well, the Disney “rep“ at the beginning of the vid is the physical representation of that meme.
Disney is NOT fine! Disney is financially f****d!

If only Disney could hire the brilliant Director X to write a screenplay featuring his dashing, heroic and relatable protagonist John Prince. I think that might give disney it's edge back
