Yeah, Jake's got daddy issues, but Holt knowingly becoming a father figure and Holt not correcting Jake whenever he calls him dad (even when they barely knew each other) is a very sweet sentiment.

I think this shows how tragic Jake Peralta really is. The first time I saw him acting like a kid, i thought it was funny and weird and a bit normal. However, as the show progresses, I can see why Jake always act like a child and Calls Holt "Dad". His father was never there in most of his childhood and have to deal with a lot of issues about him. As a fan of The Office AND B99, I always considered Jake more likable and more well-written than Michael due to his backstory. Every time Michael brought his his personal issues, it always felt like a ploy to get more attention from his employees. But with Jake, you never feel that he's manipulating people's feelings about him and that he actually feels pain about his childhood, regardless of how many times he brings it up.
True, Jake never came off as bringing it up to milk attention or sympathy. If anything I was happy he was bringing it up more cause early on he denied he had issues at all.
Just another perfect example how Absence of the Father can be devastating for a human being. Notice how Jake matured over the years, when Holt steped up to be his "Dad". Dads are the best.
Father is the inevitable conclusion of every adult male coded robot character in fiction. Data, The Terminator, Andrew in Bicentennial Man, Bender Bending Rodríguez, Jarvis, Ultron, and their son Vision, Rory from Doctor Who was a dad and also was sometimes a robot, all just off the top of my head.
