My favorite band of all time. And my favorite drummer. Got to see them live and even got to meet Blake with Dan and Dusty. Was the greatest show I've ever seen \m/
his studio performace is fantastic but his improvisation live is usually not very tasteful. sometimes I wish he'd stick to the script a little more but he's still my favorite drummer right now
There were so many inconsistencies in that one comment. "He's not playing anything that ISNT on the record". Well that's just plain not true 0:27 those extra high hat hits aren't in the album 2:46 those three flams aren't in the album 6:16-6:19 he neither hits the high-hat or the ride during that entire section on the album Now you might say i'm nitpicking his music and that there are only three examples (though there is more) and you would be right. But the idea that "He's not playing anything that ISNT on the album" just plain isn't true. I just happen the be of the not so humble opinion that 1. The changes are so rare they sound like mistakes though they obviously aren't 2. The changes themselves usually don't add anything to the song It's only an opinion man no need to shit your britches =D
***** I love improvisation in the right setting. However, I just don't feel live performance of a concept album is the right setting. And arguing with broad generalized assertions like "you just don't have any concept of creativity and musicality at all" offers no intellectual benefit so I won't go there. "He improvises all of his fills LIKE EVERYONE SHOULD." You should do some research on the tenants of moderation. Might do you some good.
He's been playing for literally an hour by this point of the show, and he's been doing this once or twice a week for a number of months, not to mention traveling between the shows. Heaven forbid he take some liberty with the parts that he wrote in a few minor ways, to keep from dying of boredom.
If there was a TV show called "Blake Richardson drumming for 30 minutes" I would watch it every day
If we were on twitter, I would have retweeted this message.
I second that.
I'd buy the boxed set. Best comment I think I've ever seen on RUclips.
ShaylaRCakes I agree.
Except for the last album's songs. He holds himself way too much on Automata...
The dynamics he has on the snare @2:50 after going through those sick Tom's quads is amazing touch. Those little details really set him apart

Definitely one of my favorite drummers. It never gets boring to listen to
What is he
I,m so jealous about his left hand lead on some of those tom fills and the ability to change from right lead to left. you win BR all day
And Animals as Leader's Joy of Motion comes out. Best humpday EVER. Jesus
So tight! Gah! I love Blake's playing!
Holy cow, he should register his chops as deadly weapons.
I like the gong drum floor tom setup! Haha! I bet that's a fun drum to play. Pretty sick drummer indeed.
Definitely layers to this band and the drummer's performance. They seem really talented and just damn cool.
This is some amazing footage.
"never again,... *dundunNUN!* Eyes open to the sound of laughterrrrrr..." mmm baby
that groove in the start is sooo sweet !
Wait but why wouldn't you film the whole song from the beginning tho 😢
WHO CAN DISLIKE THIS??
That snare sounds gorgeous.
have to agree. His snare sound is so great.
***** Apparently, Blake recently cut his deal with Evans and now endorses Remo.
How about getting the full song?
Love how the china sounds like a guy wire coming loose from a 10-story crane
Geoff Harkins incredibly descriptive, and very accurate. damn.
i always go back to this comment when i want to tell someone how a china should sound like

Its happening, and Wes Hauch is going to be in it as well.

Gets deadly around 5:04

i do not know what improvisation you are talking about, he pretty well stuck right with the album recording.
He's been playing for literally an hour by this point of the show, and he's been doing this once or twice a week for a number of months, not to mention traveling between the shows.

you youson One question. Who the fuck cares? Those improvisations you mentioned are so minor.
I think I creamed the first time I heard that fill at 2:24!!
This band is terrible but this drummer rules.
Amazing drum line.
You must not know music to say the band is terrible! BVB and Justin Bieber are terrible!
