I nearly lost my father to cancer a few years ago, and this song really hit hard the first time I saw it. As a British man, it was hard for me at the time to tell my Father how scared I was of losing him, how much I loved him. I am so lucky he survived and now I tell him all the time that I love him
It’s wild, this song seems to find people when they really need a good cry. When I lost my dad it was so incredibly hard (it still is) but this song really helped me cope with my grief.
As soon as I saw the title, I knew it was going to be a hard one. There are some songs that break reactors down, and this is absolutely one of them. I think it is nearly impossible to watch this video without tears in your eyes. It’s an incredibly emotional song that goes straight to the heart.
Listening to this as getting ready to go to my father-in-law’s funeral. He died 3 weeks ago and we were all with him at the end. My husband loves this song but is finding it too difficult to listen to right now but I know the words were in his head during our last visit to be with his dad and to say our last goodbyes. Thank you, James, for writing just about the best goodbye song ever. It’s going to be a difficult day😢
I lost my mother last year and my dad followed her earlier this year. This is the song me and my brother picked to carry dad out of the remembrance service into the big black taxi for his onward journey to see mam again.. This is an amazing song on so many levels. Thank you. Miss you guys…! ❤
tomorrow is Father's day. I think I will share this song with my 4 sisters and 1 friend. 3 of us were at my father's death bed. It is so personal, I listen to this everyday! TY
James dad was actually dying from kidney disease & this was his tribute & farewell to his dad. Thankfully his dad received a donor kidney & is doing okay now. If this song doesn't get to you emotionally, there is something wrong with you. This song resonates with me as I was my dad's caregiver for 5 years until he passed away 3 years ago.
Wonderful heartfelt reaction to a wonderful and powerful video. I've lost almost every blood relative I ever had including extended family. I cry every time I watch a reaction to this song.
Your reaction to this was exceptional and beautiful. It reminded me of your reaction to "When I'm Gone" that you did sometime back. Very touching song. Here's to your next reaction. 🙏😢💔
Hello Mrs.penpal hope your doing well and healthy today awesome video great voice awesome reaction by you again like always you looking so awesome today too thank you so much for sharing this video with us love it Mrs.penpal.❤️🌹🌹👍
Its okay, I lost my granddad last december, I cried my eyes out, but this song helped. He was ex-army, and succumbed to cancer at 68 years old. I listen to this for catharsis in my grief. It is beautiful
U know by reactions who have lost much. When my daddy died he was so afraid and i held his hand and said daddy dont be scared. Its okay pop. So i cant hear this without sobbing
I reacted the same way. I lost my fad 2 years ago. It is a time when you know how fragile you are because it is pops and you know you have to help him and let him know you have him
I believe when we have a strong emotional reaction to something like this, we needed to feel this. I'm a bit of an empath so when you react like this, I get to feel your emotions. And for me it is important to feel this. I had to live a life where I had to bury my emotions day by day to survive. When my father died 15 years ago I felt nothing. He was my abuser, he tortured me and my brothers from 1960 until 1979 when I finally moved away. Things I have learned from this song and peoples reaction videos is all the abuse, all the times he told me he hated me. All the times I wanted to die, all of it was generated many, many years before from his parents. He carried their hatred deep inside to the point where that is all he had left. I would wish I could have told him "No need to forgive, no need to forget I know your mistakes and you know mine. Don't be afraid, it's my turn to chase the monsters away." To give the peace I so desperately needed would have been far more healing. I hope your life is filled with all the goodness. And should you have to face your parents end, I would encourage you to give them the peace in their final moments.
Having lost both my parents and an elder brother it's uplifting songs I crave. However, James Blunt is possibly the nicest pop star around and very brave guy to boot having served in Kosavo. Whilst I like the sentiment my dad was ill for five years with Parkinson's, my mum had throat cancer and died in a hospice and my brother drowned so I am comfortably numb.
This song affects me because my father is alive, but it's like he's dead. I would love a relationship with him, but he doesn't feel the same. Beautiful song and reaction.
Apparently james wrote this when they found out his father had stage 4 kidney diease and no donor could be found. After releasing this song, thousands of people responded by offering their own. Later they found a distant cousin who was compatible and he had the surgery and is doing ok now.. During the recording everyone in there was crying. Only his father was calm asking why is everyone crying? I'm still here.
Lovely reaction. It's one millions of people have shared around the world. Somebody should have warned you to have some tissues nearby...! 😀 James and his father had both been officers in the British military, so James donated all the proceeds from this song to the UK charity 'Help For Heroes' who do tremendous work for ex-servicemen and women. His father did receive the kidney transplant he needed, and survived the surgery, although I heard recently, that his kidney was only functioning at 11% but I can't confirm that as the truth, just something someone said. 🙋♂ ❤
How was he able to film this? Just barely, with a lot of professionalism, dedication and military resolve. The producer wanted to use autotune to clear up the little sltps, but Jales wanted the quavering, the slightly-off notes, etc. to completely convey the emotion. It did. A young man named Iam Tongi wowed the judges and audience at American Idol this year, singing in honor of his father who had recently passed away. For the finale, he sang it again as a duet with James, and was so breaking down that James had to step in to continue the song alone several times, and very movingly reached out and held Iam's arm at the line 'you can feel my hand on your arm.' James was very clearly emotional singing such a personal song, but he soldiered through. He is a professional, through and through.
I just recommended this, and now I’ve found you’ve reacted to it! It’s so sad. Equally moving in a very different way is ‘Time’ by Pink Floyd, followed immediately by ‘Great Gig in the Sky’, which are both absolutely wonderful - you will never forget them…
Well, you fought gallantly dear lady but this song humanizes all of us and while it can be embarrassing to the one who shows vulnerability to others, to the ones watching, its a beautiful thing and connects us all. Its an odd tension; if I was in your shoes, I'd fight back the tears too, but yet when I watch someone else show no emotion to this song, I think less of them even though its wrong of me.
I don't particularly like James Blunt's singing voice. BUT This is amazing, don't know how he did the video, maybe because his dad is OK! I've seen it a few times, gets me every time..
Don't ever worry about crying when our heart hurts. Jesus cried too! HE gave us a heart to show sorrow and anguish. I never knew my father, so this is for my mother when she left to be withe LORD!

Your emotion was so touching. Thank you for being so compassionate and loving.

Thank you for your beautiful reaction to this song. Always be you, that is what we love.
It’s so natural to cry at this. I went through this with my dad right before he died.
Nice powerful reaction. Brilliant! Virtual hug to you.
Over 20 years I still cry for my mother and the tears are just as many1
I reacted the same way. I lost my fad 2 years ago. It is a time when you know how fragile you are because it is pops and you know you have to help him and let him know you have him

This song literally saved his life a distant relative saw it and got tested and it was a match

2 songs that are wAAAAy more emotional for me:
TobyMac "21 Years" and
NF "How Could You Leave Us"
How was he able to film this? Just barely, with a lot of professionalism, dedication and military resolve. The producer wanted to use autotune to clear up the little sltps, but Jales wanted the quavering, the slightly-off notes, etc. to completely convey the emotion. It did.

This song Hit me hard😢 when my father passed away he wasn't alone he was in my arms❤😞
💜
Try god went north by nothing more. That one murders me. This was a gorgeous video, thank you for posting. New fan. 😊
😔❤❤

Ok, completely random, but her LED’s were changing colors almost in time with the song. Kinda cool!
Ooh you got sharp eyes 😇

James blunt just might be the most unnecessarily hated artist ever. He’s made many amazing songs.
I don't particularly like James Blunt's singing voice.
BUT
This is amazing, don't know how he did the video, maybe because his dad is OK!
I've seen it a few times, gets me every time..
Hi how are you doing today
Hi am well, how are you?
The song makes me cry but I can't like his voice, never have.
Don't ever worry about crying when our heart hurts. Jesus cried too! HE gave us a heart to show sorrow and anguish. I never knew my father, so this is for my mother when she left to be withe LORD!
the whole filming crew was Crying after it was shot1
I don’t blame them
❤
