The MC-21-300 is the best single Aisle Aircraft in the world. I can say that from a position of authority😅
I am the first American Military veteran to work in the Irkurt Aircraft factory in SIBERIA and in Zhukovsky 2017 I was the first Flight test Jet engine mechanic for the MC-21-300.

The Boeing concept is designed so that the owner of the aircraft can earn more. MC 21 is made primarily for the passenger, safety and comfort are two key parameters. For example, two large doors in the middle of the plane, they eat up a lot of space (in Boeing these are small hatches with additional seats), yes, this is true, but leaving the plane through them is much more convenient and safer.

Under Soviet rule, the State felt their military was of greater import so their civilian aircraft were an afterthought. Whilst excellent craft in their own right, they could not match their military counterparts as designed.

There is a stretch - MC-21-400. But they need to get this plane in the air first. Then, engine makers need to increase the thrust of the PD-14 engines, and now they are busy with PD-8 for the regional jet. The stretch will have up to 256 economy high density seats, and its longer range variant can have range up to 7500 miles.

Reality: The Russian aircraft manufacturer Rostec informed that the delivery of ALL civilian domestic aircraft, i.e. MS-21, SJ-100, Tu-214, Il-114 and Baikal, will be postponed again by two more years (to 2026)! Moreover, it is hardly possible to replace non-Russian parts, which means that the technical characteristics (range, service altitude) will be significantly worse. For example, the MS-21 will only reach a service altitude of 7 km and have a range of only 2,000 km.
