Semm like your antenna go right to the propeller (They are not secure in place) try put on snowshoes (Raquette) covered with plastic bag...then you'll be safe to go there...?
You make a good point about the antenna, the wind probably blew the antenna upwards toward the motor and got tangled causing it to fall, thanks for watching
Nope, it wasn’t the wind, I flew it a couple days before near the coast in stronger winds than the day in this video and it held up fine, something failed!
Haha, yeah sh!t happens man, all part of the hobby flying drones, never know whats gonna happen sometimes! Cheers for watching brother and have a good Christmas and New Year 👍🍻
Wooow thats really a great flight test with the real facts ordered in order, Dave! Pitty of the craft it is a potential craft to do lots of modifications on and testing them out. I will definitely mention you in one of my coming videos on my channel for the Ex5. I've also seen my Eachine Ex5 doing some strange moves in the air. Did you do any calibration before take-off? It might been not a bad idea with this kind of windy conditions and maybe gusts to fly it in the highest range. Maybe the motors/esc became overheated with a cut-ff in consern. Sorry to see but super great review of the facts, Dave!!!
👍yes i always done a gyro and compass calibration on all my drones before every flight, i think it was a motor or prop fail on this occasion. Thanks for watching Robby
I had started to make some modification videos with the EX5 including this video with the wifi antenna but once i lost this drone it was game over! Here is my full playlist on the Eachine EX5 from late last year ruclips.net/p/PLxz4ugk5VawS4eWoOn74ZFuhP3ETM_xF4
Also you can see at about 600 feet out the telemetry jumps like crazy to 1200 feet in seconds lol, then to 3000 feet. Funny maybe we can associate that plane going overhead just when the drone went nuts :P. Or the crazy winds affecting distance travelled... but definitely like a viewer here mentioned (gave a thumbs up!), wind kept blowing antenna into propeller until wrapped and locked..
Yeah she flipped out on me LOL, something failed! Ah well its all apart of flying drones hey! I may still go try retreive it just yet, when the lake bed is dry as a rock! Cheers for watching thought you might be interested in this one since you have an EX5 as well. Have a great and Merry Xmas to you and Family as well mate, be safe and Enjoy! :)
hey i would grab a couple planks of wood 8 feet long or so and walk on them to get out there ! good luck I done it before especially on not so frozen lake it just spreads out your wait!! hope you have luck!!
Yeah thats right Roger, glad it was a cheap drone and not a dji product or something of that value, cheers for watching mate and all the best for Christmas 👍🍻
No I went down there a week later and the reeds where it was dry grew long so the drone wasn’t visible at all, plus it’s a known spot for snakes 🐍 so wasn’t worth it anyways
@@PERTHWESTOZRC AHAHAHAHA! Snakes!!!! So funny, I love it.... even though “I HATE SNAKES Jack!! I HATE EM!!” Cheers bro, from Canada! :) Snow, no snakes :P
They are both pretty much on par with each other tbh, the ex5 is a great flyer before what happened in this video, the L900 is decent as well but people are having issues now with the new rx drone app on the newly made models. Stay tuned because I have the new EX5 pro with 3 axis gimbal on the way
Two things. That lake bed screams new bash spot if it continues to dry out and...upcoming video of the rescue of a drone with a drone. Rain, rain stay away. 👍🏻😏👍🏻😏👍🏻😏
My thoughts exactly, i plan to wait for it to dry out for a few more weeks and then i'll go revisit it with another GPS drone, would be a good bash spot too yep! 👍
I only extended the wifi antennas underneath the drone, there was no need for the antenna of the drone itself as I already tested the range in an older video, I just wanted to improve the FPV signal, not sure why it crashed other than it being too windy and maybe a prop failed mid flight
Hi, my drone ex5 model, yesterday was working in Wi-Fi, since today, it no longer transmits Wi-Fi signal, my phone and other devices can no longer find the drone signal, how can I fix it? I can't connect the drone to the phone and take photos, Thanks a lot
Wow, almost like the wind flipped it or a prop came off. 3k feet was an awesome go at it though. Bummer that is still swampy there and you can’t get the quad back. Cheers brother.
Yeah these things happen bro, part of flying drones, I did fly it 2 days previously in higher winds to this particular day and it did fine so I'm thinking it could of maybe broke a prop or motor failed the way it tumbled looks like a failure of some sort. Would be surprised if it was the actual wind
Dam Dave. I hate if for you brother. But it is 2020, everything that can go wrong has this yr. Thank goodness it wasn't a more expensive drone than it was. Have a good weekend bro., and Merry Christmas to you and yours. Take care and god bless!!!
Cheers Butch these things happen bro, always kind of sucks to lose any drone to a failure but thats part of the hobby, i was keen to see how the range was on the fpv but i guess will not now know lol. Thanks for watching brother, i wish you and you whole family a very Merry Christmas and here hoping we all have a much better year in 2021, take care and god bless my friend! :)
You had clear video, but horribly latent, and unsettled. I have a yuneec q500 I was flying 5 years ago, I was watching the monitor, and saw a power line coming, so I looked up at the drone just in time to see the landing gear hook the power line, I looked down at the monitor, and watched it again. There was literally seconds of latency, very dangerous for your quad to fly fpv with that much latency, at least if your close to anything. I was inspecting a roof, and we'll everything up high for damage after a bad storm.
Even 900ft is above average for Wi-Fi fpv. I didn't think you had flown over a half mile. I've not seen distance telemetry that inaccurate before. Lol Still a good mod and test. Crazy though how it just fell out of the sky. Gotta be a motor/esc failure. Thanks for the video David!
Yeah I was hoping to fully test my wifi antenna modification and it all seemed positive as far as connection but then the unexpected happened, maybe a prop failed or motor, ah well these things happen sometimes when flying drones, thanks for watching Ryan👍
Yep just one of those unfortunate things that can happen when flying a drone, ah well i would've liked to see how far the Wifi FPV range would have been on ios and android but i guess i will never know now! Thanks for watching John👍
Well that sucks buddy, the wifi fpv looked decent up to that point. I’ll be the first to say it “we want a recovery video”. Slap some snowshoes in and make a run at it. 😂
Yeah i could notice a better connection in FPV up until the incident happened, not sure if its worth the trouble retrieving it now since it could have a dead motor. But i may try get a closer look at how it landed using a monocular lens or fly another drone over that area 👍 The lake bed at the end of summer would be safer to walk out there as it dries up more, right now its like quick sand
I'm having drop outs. So I'm returning mine. By the way have you heard of these GPS jammer's. I read about it in ZDNet Starting to wonder if this is causing or issues. You can read itl here: www.zdnet.com/article/cheap-gps-jammers-endanger-drones/
....maybe try snow shoes.
Yeah I didn’t bother retrieving it mate, not worth it in those snake infested reeds , they grew quick a week after when I drove by so it’s long gone

I think the wind just tipped it over

they are the antennas that are in the drone already, thanks for watching

I don't think you can bind this eachine ex5 to a multiprotocol transmitter Giorgio, thanks for watching bro👍
