George Kirby is one of my favorite pitchers to watch. Impeccable command but with lots of velocity. Mariners definitely need to keep him long term 👍
George Kirby is one of the most underrated pitchers in baseball. People know he's good but they don't know how good... If he keeps that same command dude will eventually be one of the best pitchers in the modern era imo
The best part about Kirby’s outing was how much the Yankees pounded us the 2 games before. He just walked out and said “not today, guys”.
Kirby showed why he is a great pitcher yesterday. Every one will have a bad game here or there, but to take that bad result, brush it off, and then go out and dominate the next time around is what makes a pitcher great. Cherry on top that he did it against a very good Yankees offense

George has been my favorite pitcher since early in his minor league career when we started noting his incredible k-bb% and 99 MPH velo in the minors. Still not super highly rated due to lack of secondary stuff at that time, it's awesome to watch him slowly improve the secondary stuff while keeping the incredible command and control. He's sitting at 9.67 K/BB this year. 🤠

It is worth remembering that Maddux was not a soft-tosser. He looked slower in comparison to Smoltz, who was a fireballer, but in the early to mid 90s Maddux could hit 93-94 on then current guns, which is probably 95-96 on current guns. Late in his career he lost 6 to 8 mph from his peak. A lot like how Greinke could sit 94-95 ten years ago, now sits 86-88.
Camilo duval and Ben Joyce have similar mechanics… They have this slingshot effect in they’re throwing motion… Very interesting

Alex Lange is silently becoming one of the best closers in the game. I'm not gonna say better than devin or clase but he keeps it up, he could give them a run for their money

You have to be kidding me: Maddux threw plenty of heaters down the middle of the plate. He didn't live there and neither does Kirby, but if you think he didn't throw a fastball down the middle, you're nuts. And Maddux also had only 1 season in his entire career with as low a walk rate as Kirby has this year.
