The quote "I wish my head could forget what my eyes have seen" is so very true after over a decade in public safety (Fire and EMS) the mental scars most of us carry around are many. There is more firefighters, police officers and medics that take their own lives every year than are killed in the line of duty.

*"It's like Katrina without the hurricane". That is the PERFECT way to sum up the massive deterioration that's taken place in Detroit over recent decades.*
*I am from Michigan originally, and love my homestate to the fullest. But Detroit in it's current state of condition... I just hope it gets better @_____________@*

You needn't look in a comic book to find heroes. Chances are that they are in your local fire hall.

Man even after Brendan "Doogie" Milewski tells his story. Today we had EIGHT, EIGHT brothers with different severity of injuries in a collapse one was loaded into an ambulance and rushed to the emergency room. I feel like Detroit has a serious issue. July 28th 2022..

They go into buildings with no evidence of anyone being occupied and the building is not able to saved. MANY departments still have this culture of fighting every single fire from the inside. It's a hero complex thing. I've been a first responder since 08 and it's always been a thing.

Detroit firefighter have balls. You think fdny, boston and chicago aggressive.

    • @isaacs3037

I use to think the FDNY was the most aggressive of them all but after watching this documentary and seeing the amount of working structure fires they would go to in 1 shift is ridiculous. And unlike the FDNY, Detroit is doing straight 24 hours of that. And to have almost all of those fires in vacants and to still go in balls to the wall like that With limited equipment, wore down turn out gear not to mention literally using broken apparatus is out of this world. All of them have my up most respect but after seeing this, I put those Detroit guys on top. Those men are a different breed.

The solution is very simple. Burn, under controlled conditions, every derelict house. Then level the lot and carry away debris. Many problems would be solved at once.

Isn't Detroit famous for Hell Night?, the night before Halloween when delinquents set dozens of vacant houses on fire every year.
