Made my first tape measure yagi for 2m about a year ago.
Works like a charm for the shack! Was able to hit a repeater about 55 miles away, although the Rx was iffy.
Great job on the build, and hope you were able to hit the repeaters!

Wow! Excellent video, tape measure, ida never guessed. What other homemade antennas could we make?

Lots of different styles to make. We'll make more.

Ive been using a 4 element 70cm yagi tape measure and its getting into a winsystem repeater about 32-35 miles away. It works.
Infact, i just checked the swr today and its 2:0 on 447.975
Next im looking at a 4 element cubical quad for 2 meters.

I beleive it has to be < 1/4 wave lenght, Anyone have any idea on how to measure the hairpin ?

There's still a question about the length of the hairpin. How is that length determined?

Why do the inner and outer coax have to be connected?

Just curious, does the metal "mast" you're using have any effect on the antenna?

I followed the instructions; all pieces are cut correctly. My SWR is a 9:1 at 445 MHz and 1.5:1 at 915 MHz, I am not sure what I did wrong. also, what is your trick to get the solder to stick to the braided shielding of the coax cable, I cannot get a good solder joint. I used 3 13 directors instead of 4 if that makes a difference.

SWR is adjusted by moving the driven elements in or out, at the hairpin.
Also, if you're putting the antenna in the attic, you really don't need the support pieces.
