    Skeleton Crew really struck a chord with me because it perfectly captures that blend of adventure and the awkwardness of growing up in the Star Wars universe. These kids aren’t just dodging blasters; they’re on a quest to figure out who they are and where they fit in, which is something we all can relate to. Watching them navigate their challenges and build those crucial friendships reminded me of what makes the galaxy so special, it’s all about connection. And Jude Law? He’s like that cool older mentor who’s a bit of a mess but always shows up when it matters

    SM-33 and his little rat should have gotten some medals at the end.

    I need to know the future of the kids NOW. I didn't realize just how much I cared about all of these characters till this finale. I was genuinely nervous and emotional throughout all the problems they faced though.

    I enjoyed Skeleton Crew as whole, despite the ending feeling a bit abrupt overall Im glad eaxh of the kids were able to grow and paying off their arcs. Really wish their was an epilogue.

    5:31 I completely agree! I really enjoyed the ending, but as soon as the plot was wrapped up, it just stopped! It's like if in The Return of the King, it just cut to the credits after the eagles grabbed Frodo and Sam.

    It felt like a really refreshing take, making the plot twists and expectation subversion be the lack there of in a way - the bad people were the bad people, and the new republic came through. I missed the joy of hearing “ lock s-coils in attack position” more than I thought I would, and had such a big stupid grin on my face throughout. I do agree that they continue to try new things like the acolyte, though

    I expected nothing of this show going in, but now that it's over I can officially say that this show is peak. Hooked me from the first episode to the last.

    I love that Jod Na Nawood is just a con man who has failed upwards to become a pirate captain, but he is never beyond redenshon and you can see how any of the kids may end up like that.

    My 8-year-old daughter really got into it. The show was very effective as kids' entertainment. I quite liked it, too.
    I felt like it was fresh, and honestly, if the executives take away the lesson that they should blend other old movies into new Star Wars ones, I don't think that would be so bad. After all, Lucas was directly pulling from Westerns and samurai movies, especially Hidden Fortress, for A New Hope. I think mixing other genres was also part of the early success for the MCU as well. When done right, you get a good synthesis that produces good new stories.

    'Everywhere we went, event the worst places, there were good people willing to help us'
    That, right there, is what Star Wars should be about. Absolute thesis statement, and a strong arguement against isolationism and choosing hope over fear. This show really got it.
    After this finale, every economist in the New Republic is going having a straight up panic attack when thay find out that there are enough credits on At Attin to crash the entire galactic economy...

    I really did like this show. Shame it wasn't 12 episodes though, I would've liked to explore the various locations more (At-Akron in particular).

    I really liked this finale, even if it felt like a rather sudden end, would've liked 5 minutes more for an epilogue. The series itself was fun, well done, but - as noted - basically just Goonies or an 80s/90s kids group adventure set in Star Wars. Despite other Disney+ shows being criticized as "a big movie chopped up into episodes", this really did feel like a big movie, but well edited into episodes.
    I agree that it's nice to see shows that push the boundaries of Star Wars, but I will say I appreciate Skeleton Crew for being rather solid, doing something we haven't seen done well in some time, and for pushing the boundaries of what Star Wars can be (well, can be again, given the Ewok movies), even if it wasn't deep philosophically, or pushing any real bounds there.

    I'm hoping that the lack of an epilogue means we're gonna get a second season. I did wish we had gotten at least 1 cameo of space cop Carson Teva. Skeleton Crew has been enjoyable popcorn Star Wars, like you said, nothing groundbreaking but just really well executed entertainment. Maybe some of these characters will show up in the Mando/Grogu movie? LLAP & MTFBWY!

    I really enjoyed this show. It was a fun adventure that didn't have too many unanswered questions but enough to keep hanging in case we get either another season or links into future projects. My one gripe is the ending. Everything's wrapped up, the kids are reunited, the people see the barrier gone etc but the x-wings just leave (weird) and we end with Wim just staring into the universe..... It feels like it just stopped. Abruptly.

    I really enjoyed Skeleton Crew. I do want a second season but i doubt we will get one based on the ratings. Maybe if they kept the budget down and word of mouth spread in the upcoming weeks and we get more data.

    It may not have broken any ground narratively, but I really appreciated that it was another show that tried to do something different within the Star Wars universe, telling a different kind of story that isn't about the Force and wasn't tied to any characters from the main movies. It 100% succeeded at that in my opinion, but sadly it looks like this isn't something that draws in audiences at scale. Though I guess there's a chance it might turn out to be the next generation's Clone Wars, as in a show that serves as an entry point to the wider Star Wars universe for kids.

    I loved the finale! But I have 2 complaints:
    -It came close to Voyager finale territory in terms of an abrupt ending.
    -It was a bit off-putting seeing the New Republic coming in guns-a-blazin' on a pirate frigate hovering over a city! I mean, I laughed...but I would have liked to see them turn down the goofiness for that sequence.

    • @mikestone6026
      @mikestone6026 6 часов назад +2

      Yeah, they show it start coming down and we're meant to be like "Yeah! They saved the day!" And then we see it start to crash into the streets and buildings as it lands and I thought, "maybe they could've waited until it wasn't over the population center to do that". 😬

    • @pyRoy6
      @pyRoy6 6 часов назад

      @mikestone6026 Yeah, and it had to be a deliberate storytelling choice to make it look so reckless! I was expecting them to show the pirates try to escape, but get arrested... something for the viewers (especially kids) to see the difference between the pirates vs Republic Navy.
      Of course. Maybe it was a political statement...that the good guys are every bit as uncaring as the bad guys. It could have been a reference to the certain destruction of Endor's ecosystem thanks to pieces of the DS2 raining down for years after the battle...

    I like the episode, I really do, but the ending felt awkwardly low to me. I just wish the episode is a little longer, or they should've added an extra episode just to see aftermath of the pirates defeat. And how the people of At Attin is going to adjust, now that they are part of the Galactic community now.

    Its unfortunate to hear Stephen Fry's horrid comments.

    • @grahamcrawford4773
      @grahamcrawford4773 7 часов назад

      A great deal of Stephen Fry's comments on the world recently have been about the nature of debate, explicitly the notion that the Left has shot itself in the foot by its own rhetoric.I suspect men of a certain age (and I am close that age) do not understand how the power of rhetoric works on Internet bubbles. Obviously he should have stood up for trans rights... But he is getting bogged down in how people argue without thinking about the real world outcomes. Germaine Greer and Dawkins often fall into the same trap. That generation of public academics often forget Rhetoric can kill.

    I’ve never been so happy to be proven wrong. I’m glad that my prediction of Jod being a Palpatine wasn’t right. Still think that At Attin should’ve been where the First Order started.

  • @oolong2
    @oolong2 6 часов назад

    I enjoyed the series, but it really didn't stick the landing for me, because I kept wondering what the point of it all was? Why does At Attin even exist? What were the people "analyzing"? Why were there even people there to begin with? If the minting is done by droids and the Supervisor is a droid/AI why do they even need people? Also wouldn't the discovery of more money than God have enormous ramifications for the entire galaxy and the New Republic? It would have made a lot more sense if the First Order got that money because it would at least explain how they were able to build a Death Star out of nowhere. Other than Goonies in space I don't get what this show was all about.

    The show ended great. Great stuff all around. Tuesdays will be boring now. Waiting for The Last of Us Season 2. I'll let content creators keep me updated on Andor Season 2. I found Andor Season 1 extremely boring personally. It took me 3 tries to get through the season. I kept falling asleep on the first 3 episodes in particular.
