This is a good Christmas song if you don't know Norwegian
It's still good if you speak Norwegian :D
Simen Iversen Definitely xD
Michael T. S. Its even better ID you know Norwigean like me
FRortfarande bra x)
Isnt it danish?
When I started watching, they actually got me there for a moment, thinking that they made a genuine nice Christmas song. But nope, they made it better.
+Winjin SAMME LMAO
Same*
Me too man xD I really had me going
Nope. I was juuuuuust waiting for it. "Where's this one going to go sideways?"
They got me at the "Eating endangered bird" part 🤣
My first thought was "That's quite an innocent peaceful sounding song."
And then I turned on the subtitles...
Are the subtitles a joke? Then again , they topped the tree with meat
@@tfamadventures2080 subtitles are not a joke
@@tfamadventures2080 I am glad to tell you that they are not a joke
I sang this song on the New year party at my school. The audience was really enjoyed about that. Because nobody of them knows Norwegian.
P.S.: I'm a teacher.
One day when they are old enough, some of your pupils will remember... When they finally understand sarcasm and satire they will say: Remember zhopatarakana? Why didn't we pay more atention?
@@TheTomplom haha do you know actually what does it mean - zhopatarakana? It's in Russian, unfortunately I understand 😂😂😂🤣
You must be a very funny teacher, ass of a cockroach! 😂😂😂
@@LinaSemina No I don't know what zhopatarakana means. Enlighten me. From your tone, I guess I've been punked some how :-))
I can't wait to decorate the Christmas tree this year. This year we're gonna use extra pepperoni.
+Niobesnuppa We made 赖皇宝
+radomanci37 It should be “奶黃包” and it literally means custard bun.
Trust me I am Chinese. hahaha
Chung David thanks for translation. Too me it can mean anything and nothing. You just gotta love Asia
+Chung David Ok. Thanks. :D
Chung David being a Chinese, I was momentarily ashamed that I didn’t know what 赖皇宝was...
I shouldn't have turned the english lyrics on. Until then it was just nice innocent Norwegian Christmas song... :D
K. Petrova same
Still...there were a few strange things to see.
+Elise Fraser that is normal here
Nice traditions!
Yeah cause we make lai wong pao
I'm going to play this song for my family for Christmas. And I won't tell them what the words mean.
Then i will come to your house at nigt and tell them
Tanisia01 be sure to make them some tissegløgg
@@sindreeike1448 you'll have to learn Romanian and come to our house too, cuz' I'm about to do the same!! :)))
Snek 1000%
@@sindreeike1448 it should be published in wikileaks :)
So this is how they celebrate Christmas in Norway
Jessica Sitorus u might not have a brain
It is
Sqwish Yup :P
pretty much
Sqwish yep
Pure Ylvis gold here: solid songwriting, polished arrangement, very high quality sound and video, excellent singing...and funny-bordering-on-insane lyrics. Much as I love their humor, I'm kinda glad I don't understand Norwegian, so sometimes I can just enjoy the beautiful sound of this song! (Yes, I've seen the subtitles, tusen takk to whoever did the translating!)
I was humming this earlier, completely forgetting it was a Ylvis song. It was just in my head as a Christmas song, and after a few minutes when I couldn't remember the lyrics, I realized it was Da vet du at det er Jul. I've totally accepted this song as part of my internal Christmas playlist.
hahahaha
+VeryNot Best Christmas song ever!
From Japan! Thanks to Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters' performance, I started to listen to Ylvis. Though I don't understand Norwegian, I read English sub and laughed a lot. This song and Trucker's Hitch are my favorite.
I just love Norwegians so much hahaha
Why thank you
+Trude Dayan Norway and norwegians are amazing :3
+IzzyTranslates thanks!! (I'm norwegian)
+Jo Lo Welcome! I hope I get to visit Norway someday ^--^
+IzzyTranslates I hope you will! Espacially in christmas time, doesn't this video explains why?? xD
Selvfølgelig får man julestemning. :)
Norwegian Christmas traditions are amazing
this is how we celebrate christmas is Norway btw.
Yeah right
Really? Could you explain at least one tradition
Brunoo Xino Christmas trees decorated with food? Amazing.
+Wen Jenq Chen We use cookies on our trees, usually a heart shape
+Brunoo “Pokè” Xino круто)
I'm totes going to play this during Christmas this year, and tell my family that it's a beautiful Norwegian carol.
Ilya here. Great song. Such typical Norway traditions!!!!
:))
I so want you to be the real Ilya.
Tusen takk =]
奶黃包 er god mat i Hong Kong Yumcha restaurant.
Flott land, flotte mennesker.
nerd ass
At first I thought this was a genuine nice song, but then... Ylvis happened
I know right. When the song started, I was like, "What? They made a legit song?" But then, like you said, "Ylvis happened"! hahaaha
The singing is so beautiful that it made me cry while I lmao over the lyrics. Omfg I love this. I LOVE THIS!!!
+Ayla Cheshir
"Dude, I've got an idea! Let's make a Chistmas song, with snow, horses, corpses, and we gonna make a pizza-Christmas-tree!"
And That is how a good song is made.
If ya don't like them, go fuck yourself.
Well, I just said that it was a good song... o.O
Ylvis and Draco Malfoy lover Wtf was that?
well that escalated quickly
they have better music videos than any of the shits today.
Okay, so I'm gonna pretend that I've never turn on the translation.
I come back to this song every year 😂
Bard and Vegard are very sweet in this video ...! I love them! although I do not know the Norwegian language (I read the English subtitles) .. will be the ringtone on my phone for the Christmas period. then singing in their language makes it fascinating!
"Mom hides corpses, dad is searching eagerly" HAHAHAHAHA!!!
Frohe Weihnachten, #LaFamilia
if you look at the statistics for all the older Ylvis videos, the views for each of them made a sudden drastic spike around the september 2013 mark... as much as i'm sick of talking about that damn fox video (and i'm sure they are too), clearly it was the best thing that ever happened to them! :-)
the point as that they now have world wide attention, and not just for that one song; for other work of theirs as a result of that song. which is a very good thing for them, and well deserved.
they have a lot of better songs then Fox
Małgorzata Sz The fox say sucks.. idfk why people like that
Clash try to look their another videos :) i am sure you will find something you like :)
No, it's not the best thing that has happened to them. Annoying reading comments from foreigners complaining all the time.. "This sucks" "This is just as bad as the fox" "They do this for money" "Trying on a new hit song and failing" etc. They make these songs for their TV show not for all these ungrateful foreigners.
Had me worries for a minute, thought it was going to be a normal song lol
Jon Fishsticks What are you talking about? This is a perfectly normal Norwegian Christmas song :p
now I'm full happy.
I'm full confused...
Ingenting skriker jul mer enn lai wong pao og wikileaks!
if i don't open subtitle i will think it's a good christmas song haha
I just got schooled on the old Viking, Norse, modern Norwegian Christmas traditions--Ylvis style!
once christmas was sweet and innocent.
and then ylvis came...
People, bokmal and nynorsk are not dialects, you can not speak bokmal or nynorsk. They are the two official writing languages in Norway...
#lafamilia
Heruraza Aber sowas von!
LOL Skyping with Kabul?! Hahaha! I don't know norwegian, but you can figure out some of the humour in this. Brilliant and very well sung!
This is the only Christmas song I will ever need.
I'm from Sweden and I can vouch for that like 90% of Norway is fluent in English.
I sang this song on my Christmas Prom, they were all shocked that I sang a Norwegian song, but they loved it after all and now the most of them love Ylvis just like me ^^
Listening this in October because why not xD
Ps: It's the best christmas carol ever made

Typisk Ylvis. Glædelig jul! 😆
God Jul fra Russland. Jeg elsker Ylvis =)
Norway has such lovely christmas traditions ^^
Ylvis fans till now?anyone?
(anyone knows whats they are doing right now?)Damm I miss them.
I found dead body, it's Christmas xD
How else would you know?
They are so funny. - decorating the Christmas tree with pizza items: mozzarella cheese, pizza sauce, mushrooms, dough & bacon - and a pork chop as the tree topper. They have such beautiful voices. You just know they are saying funny things. I love their humor. (There is a subtitled version of this song on RUclips, too.)
There is subtitles on this too, if you see between the "Watch later" and "settings" button in the bottom right there is another button, click it and you can then choose if you want subtitles on/off and which language you want it to be in.
Do you understand something of that they say?
xMacue Thanks, yes!! They added the subtitles since I first commented on this. Your comment will be so helpful to others. :-)
Spanish subtitles! FUCK YEAH
Jajajja Sii!
JAjajajjaja exacto
I understand the lyrics and it's still my favourite xmas song next to the pogues - fairytale of New york
is this typical ylvis music? if so then wow. this is the only acceptable christmas song for me
Is this "The Nightmare Before Christmas" LOL
Schöne Grüße aus dem Stream #LaFamilia
Silly norwegians with their delicious looking christmas tree's. Merry Christmas!
Delicious? Raw meat? You must be kidding.
Whatdoesthefoxsay? It looks to me like they are about to set the tree on fire so dinner will cook.
I just started learning Norwegian (just for you guys) and i understood about 5 words xD.
Vécsei Márton And the funny thing is that i am hungarian and in school i am learning italian xD
+Vécsei Márton Are you interested in buying a boiler by any chance?
+007titok wh... what?
Bojler eladó!!!
+007titok why are you trying to sell boilers below a music video?
Gronkh Weihnachts Livestream!!! :D #lafamilia
Jey :D, hab's auch gefunden ^^.
Bård and Vegard have the voices of angels
We love you bard and vegard
Strange if you don't speak this language. It sounds really beautifull but if you see the video it's time to search for the english version haha. Those 2 guys are hilarious. I think it's time to learn how to speak (or at least understand) Norwegian.
I am learning
I'm learning
read the subtitles like I did. The first verse is almost a beautiful Christmas song - except an endangered bird. The second verse is just odd.
***** That's pretty much all their songs. The first verse is a normal song. And then...it's not a normal song any more.
talonvaki
I know. They make me laugh.
My favorite pair of beautiful, angelic, rosy-cheeked, snowflake-bedecked, multi-talented brothers being hilariously weird. Yessssss!
this is very confusing when you don't understand the lyrics and when you have turned the subtitles off😂
The fabulous Cucumber if You could speak norwegian its superfunny😅
Andreas Berge Formo I wish I could but I have no time to learn it due to school and other activities. But I think norwegian is a very beutiful language
This is by far the creepiest song I've ever heard
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one with a pizza Christmas tree!
And it all started just like a regular Christmas thing...
I WANT IT TO BE CHRISTMAS. now.
+MinecraftGamerX No its not! ;)
♥ #LaFamilia
Christmas and snowy feels. Sang by two beautiful siblings. Here we have an elevated version of Frozen.
I think it's so funny that my 2 year old daughter who is growing up in California with Chinese and Filipino heritage is starting to sing along with this song in Norwegian. :-)
thepurlfisher Does she know what it means? xD
Ok, I like Ylvis a lot, in the sense that they are a national treasure, and there are many reasons for that, and the FOX is not one of them, they are both incredibly humble and "discreet" multitalents. But i would love to see them perform something, only once, that was completely plucked clean of satire and comedy. I would like to see them do something truly emotional and real, because i know they have it in them. They are both presentable singers and multi-instrumentalists so yeah, it would be nice to see them utilize those talents once for a heartfelt performance.
Vegard HAS done it - when he sang the Norwegian soundtrack for "Spirit - Stallion of the Cimarron" - check it out if you haven't already - he sounds great and it shows even more of his versatility because they wanted him to sound like Bryan Adams, so that's how he sang, AND he was only 22 or 23 when it was recorded. Trouble is, if they tried doing something serious now, wouldn't we all be waiting for the joke? Maybe "serious music" should be their next challenge - Ylvis - are you up for it?
That is impossible
Brage Ramsrud Probably
+satur9dreamer i think they can. but that's not what most of us expect from them. i mean, it's Ylvis ...
it begins so innocently... xD
Fun fact:賴皇宝 is actually means奶皇包,which has golden liquid sauce thingy inside the bun. However, the bun in the video is actually looks like 平安包,which is originally came from Cheung Chau, Hong Kong. And there is festival involves in it, called 太平清醮,find more in Wikipedia.
奶黃包 "custard bun"
平安 "safe and sound"
why it has to be custard lol?! Nice idea though Ylvis!
in short, they say eating 平安包 grants protection from deity
should it be steam instead of bake?
Amazing Teoh Maybe he's just reheating them?
I just feel I should trow this out there for any foreigners who have to stick with the subtitles.
The lyrics are absolutely not about anything that is typically norwegian. This song does the same thing that every other Ylvis song does: Making a very "correct" song with top production value, changing out the lyrics with something that is completely bullcrap :P I think the only thing that may be sort of a inside-joke is the musical part of the song. It is based on very typical scandinavian christmas songs that comes out on new cd's every other christmas or so.. Hope this cleared up a few things :)
thank you for your effort :)
And now I have to ask: How do you say "bullcrap" idiomatically in Norwegian?
TaiChiKnees Oksedritt.
Thank you. I will try to use the word wisely. ;-)
TaiChiKnees Or you can say "bøffelbæsj". Easier to pronounce, basically the same meaning.
#LaFamilia
hhaahahahahah XD ...I was in the mood for Christmas music...and I found a Ylvis song that works perfectly..well, almost LOL
I understand norwegian, and this is the most funny christmas song I have ever heard.
Nobody:
Me: watched this for the 68th time.😄
Same. Same. This is on my yearly list.
I thought it was a really good christmas song until I turn the english caption on, turned out to be a really good christmas parody song. I will use this song for my family next christmas, I have to my sure they don't understand Norway tho 👌
ok, i spend my next christmas in norway, they have the best traditions
Great! We have been looking for a new christmas corpse!
I know right! You`re welcome!
Can't stop listen this, it is beautiful and weird, but that is Ylvis :D
Am I the only one listening this is March?
You aren't :)
I am too
I'm listenin to it in April!
May
Silver Phạm June
Watched through this half paying attention until the dead guy. and then I'm like wtf they both look happy singing but people are dead and throwin' food on a tree. When the song ended, I was like wtf did I just watch?! Then I saw it had English subtitles. Round two here we go.
Also, first time round, caught just a glimpse of the penguin but thought it was just a Norwegian bird
I love this song 😂😂
oh, that's a puffin
Watching this during the summer. Get's in the Christmas spirit.
Time has come... Let's listen to it again :D
This would be awesome with a rhyming English translation, even if it was contrived. I speak Norwegian, so it'd just be for the funny for me.
This is so cool, I'm Finnish so I study Swedish in school, and apparently I can understand some Norwegian too because of my Swedish studies :DD
It's a very Mafia kinda Christmas! Pizza and bodies.. cozy! ;)
Just needed a horse head.
So they sliced up the dead guy into a Christmas tree ornament?
What else should we use them for? We aren't cannibals.
So, I added this to my Christmas playlist
Why Vegard and Bard are so adorable?
The title is 'Then you know it's July'
@Joseph Redpath
it's a protected species they're eating.
Jemand wegen Gronkh da? :D
