Spent 3 hours fighting Lost Kin without getting the double jump, goes and grabs it, then beats Lost Kin the very next attempt without using the double jump a single time. It’s just **chef’s kiss**

Tip for descending dark, instead of jumping and using it it may help is you use it on the ground to be less open to damage. Just a tip. It makes me happy to see your reactions to all the amazing things in Hollow Knight.

If you’re in the air, and activate descending dark, you get invincibility ~2 frames earlier, though.

I beat the game 3 times before I even found out the Hive existed, I've beat it maybe 30 now and I still haven't actually managed to get all the way through saving Zote I just. Really don't like Zote, and keep leaving him to die in deepnest

He spent so many hours last stream on Lost kin not knowing of the double jump in the next room over then beat it immediately after getting it.
And he didn't even make jumps for which a double jump was necessary ^^ like, no stalling or anything.

Even if you don't end up speedrunning this, you should look into the randomizer mod (for items or, if you want to be extra chaotic, rooms)

2:40:20 acid skips aren’t patched, not in switch either. It’s just the spot you were attempting is very hard, I’d say it’s harder than QGA(don’t look it up yet, it’s a very difficult acid skip, 3:03:01)

If your referring to the rotting corpse of the giant worm post 2nd Hornet to earn Kings Brand, it was the Pale King’s original form. For some reason, he shed that form for the one we commonly attribute to the Pale King. Not explained explicitly why, but it was one of his forms.

bro i've been watching these vods in the background while doing other stuff for the past few days, and i literally dreamed about watching them last night. like you ran into some crazy glitch that gave you infinite jumps. shit was weird
The hornet fight in kingdoms edge was the most difficult fight in the whole game. I sat there for at almost 4 hours bc I was too determined to keep using quickly charged nail art with nail masters glory. It took maybe 5-8 tries for radiance and like almost 20 for NKG but this was so fucking difficult because I was stupid and didn’t try literally anything else.
Nah, the knits fight was harder. It too me around 20 tried to do it while I bested hornet in my second try

Let's talk stats for fun. Today, we are going to be talking about the trash tier charm Soul Catcher.
Soul Catchers effect description reads:
Increases the amount of SOUL gained when striking an enemy with the nail.
In theory, this should be very good because it takes fewer strikes to fill your SOUL gauge. In practice, it's not quite as such.
Here's the point where we *look under the hood!*
The base SOUL gauge has a limit of 99 SOUL. Striking an enemy gives you 11 SOUL. Each spell or focus uses 33 SOUL. This means it takes exactly 3 strikes to gain a spell or focus and 9 strikes to fill the gauge entirely.
How does Soul Catcher affect this?
Soul Catcher adds an additional 3 SOUL when striking an enemy. This means to gain an extra strikes worth of SOUL, you must strike 4 times.
In practice, this means it requires 5 strikes to get two spells instead of 6, which sounds really good.
So, this sounds all good. Where's the issue?
You see, the issue comes with the cost to equip the charm. There are other charms which do Soul Catchers job better but it's an early game charm, so this is to be expected. However, equipping Soul Catcher cost 2 charm notches. Early game, you don't have a lot of charm notches, and there are much more valuable things you could put in those slots. Even late game, when you have lots of notches to spare, there are much better charms to round out a build.
So, in conclusion:
Soul Catcher is a really good charm in theory, but in practice, the effect isn't worth the 2 notches to equip it.

What other charm does soul catcher’s effect but better? Soul eater isn’t that much better and it’s four notches. King soul is garbage. Grubsong requires you get hit to get soul (adding weaversong is 3 notches total and it isn’t that good regardless).
To the people in the future: piontcrow actually get both nail upgrades in this vod :)

Man, not seeing you use the normal spell against distant enemies (like flying ones in the colosseum) was painful to watch xD
Lost kin took me 7 tries 1st play through , used defenders crest, dream shield, grubsong, soul catcher, and spell twister

I do believe that super dash skip in that acid water only works on earlier versions of the game and is now patched out.

I'm PointCrow 6 hours into this stream having an existential breakdown over the housing crisis, how it's literally impossible to afford a home on minimum wage, that "just get a job/move somewhere cheaper" is a thought terminating cliché, and how the current system is literally unsustainable. Eric, you're so close to Baby's First Marxist Breakthrough. Suggestion for next stream: Reading Kropotkin live over Twitch.

You know if you use defenders crest (1 notch) it kills all the flying orange guys before they even do damage to you. I mean you don't get the soul for hitting them so it's not the best strat, but it makes the fight a lot simpler. It's way easier to heal.
Edit: I also love how no one told you about the chandelier. Not that they should have, but I'm just impressed with the integrity of your chat. There's also a meme desolate dive strat against that boss. You can just pogo on top of them and with shaman stone 3 lv2 dives kills them. You also have enough invincibility from each dive to do it 3 times in a row completely invincible the whole time. So you group 2, pogo or do what ever to get soul and then spam the dive. You kill them pretty much as fast as they spawn.

I have a friend that started playing Hollow Knight mabye 3 months after I did. He always seemed to be worse at literally everything than I was on my first try. I assumed he was just terrible, but after watching Eric, mabye I was just pretty good.
