For those who want to do this, I sanded the entire car with 400 grit. All you need to do is scuff up the old material so paint can adhere. Since I use paint often, I had colonial red and a marigold yellow-both rustoleum. The reason I did the two original colors, is because I have two sons and didn’t want to make it too different. You can buy clear coat, but that will just make it super shiny and I like a flatter look anyway! It came out really good, take the time and take the entire toy apart for an easy spray. If not, take your time masking! The paint didn’t dry tacky. It came out nice and smooth. The woman in the video did an excellent job and gave me motivation to make my son’s coupe cozy.
I used a top coat so it lasted through mini sessions well!! I’m sure after some months of being played with by kids & sitting in a garage it would get scraped up though!!
How do you clean all the mould that's inside it? I'm going to flip mine but I have tried jet washing it to no avail I just cannot get the inside clean x
Hi Rebecca, Personally, I would not be afraid of using a bit of bleach to kill the mold spores or a good steamer if you have one (or both but please do outdoors and wear a really good mask as you don’t want to inhale bleach fumes with that steaming action).

What paint did you use?
Darling! How did it hold up through your minis? Did it end up scratching easily?

hi! Any updates on paint after use? Any tips or tricks to prevent paint chipping?
Do you remember what color of red you used? I want to redo my sons!

I think bleach is a great idea! It’s crazy how moldy and dirty the old ones are 😵💫
