This is a very good way of looking at it. I like him in the 50-55 range, closer to 50 would be better. It comps well with Hurts, Tua, Trevor, etc. I think you also brought up a point that is not typically mentioned. His agent is trying to demonstrate to other prospective clients that he can get top dollar, whether Brock is pushing for that or not. I actually think this will get done a lot smoother than the Aiyuk deal did - which was absolutely ridiculous.
But the only Argument Purdy has is team success and the QB rating games he had. If you dive into his numbers since that Ravens game he has been middle of the road in yards, TD’s and interceptions. When you pair that with a.500 record I’m not sure you can demand top of the market. Now the team isn’t having success and Purdy hasn’t been able to be the difference. This is why I think this could drag on for a while. If Purdy plays the rest of the year he could throw less than 20 TDs this year. Be honest with yourself do you think that’s worth 50-60 million a year?
If they pay Brock the going rate theyll have buyers remorse within 2 years. Hes not dynamic enough to survive the fan criticism when hes not being the reason they win. This is jimmy g all over again. With jimmy it wasnt the fact that he wasnt really good but that he was making more mo ey than Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers at one point in time.
@Efekaocho That's exactly my point. They were paying jimmy 26 million dollars to throw 7 times in the playoffs and when they finally needed him to throw in the superbowl he couldnt do it. We kinda already got a taste of that with Brock in last year's superbowl. He didnt play bad but he certainly didnt make any wow plays that could have won them that game.
I agree with David Lombardi's take on the upcoming contract with Purdy. It's about the guaranteed money not annual salary in the the contract. How the guaranteed money is structured and how it is earned is the key to what Purdy makes over the years of the contract. If the add on latter years of the contract are huge salaries that when averaged together produces an annual salary of 60+ per year only sounds like a huge contract. Likely once the guaranteed money is earned the huge annual salary that follows it are essentially voidable. What will likely happen is when the guaranteed money is earned and paid, the 9ers will restructure Purdy's contract so the huge annual salary at the back end is never really paid. If Purdy proves to be a SB winner, his next contract will be restructure with likely an evey bigger guaranteed portion than the first contract. Yes, the huge contract has an impact on the salary cap and Lombardi talks about this as well. I love both Lombardi and Krueg's take on the 9ers.

The fact is, if the Niners pay Brock Purdy top dollar, can they afford to sign essentially three players to your team? Two of your top defenders, Greenwich and Hufanga, will become restricted free agents after this season. Even though they’re coming off injuries, they’ll both be playing like superstars in the next three games. There will be teams willing to overpay them, so can the Niners meet these offers? Then there’s George Kittle, who will become a free agent in 2026. The best way to keep Kittle in 2026 is to resign him in the offseason. Can the team do that? Or will they lose George Kittle in 2026 because he’ll check the market? There’s a team that will pay George top of the market value. I don’t have the answers, but I know that overpaying Brock Purdy could lead to a period of mediocre Niners play.
Then the 49ers will never go to another Super Bowl again with or without Brock unless they luck into a Mahomes on a rookie deal, because the going rate in the NFL for a top tier quarterback is over $50 million a year after the rookie deal.
Tom mahomes and young are right. They all know how much more important is to take less then the market to allow more talent on the team to do the number one goal. Win the f’ing super bowl
Why would Brock Purdy be worth the same as Daniel Jones, or Baker Mayfield (who he's never lost to)? Are you completely forgetting what he did in years one and two? 35-40M is an insulting offer for a QB who's been massively outperforming his contract ever since he's been signed and there's no way that's a realistic offer for the reigning NFC champion and Super Bowl runner up.

Brock Purdy showed me his not yhe type of a quarterback you can trust if your down in games especially in the fourth quarter to a win and ge can't play in rain snow games so his not a 60 hack even 40 50 million dollars quarterback
He beat the packers in the rain during the playoffs and would’ve beat the rams last week if deebo didn’t drop passes. The 49ers are on RB 5 this week. And Jennings seems to be the only reliable reciever this year. Kittle is just too busy helping out the bad OL.

Steve usually makes sense, but he's way off on this one. He somehow has concluded that Brock doesn't do well on off-schedule plays! This is lunacy. Last year, Steve was making a big deal about Brock needing to run more, to get more "easy yards." And now Steve compares Brock to Goff?! Steve, time to change your meds dude.
@@miguelalvarez4342 , not elite? Not top 10? Well, we seem to disagree.
@@thomzajac5411 nah, Steve said Brock can move and needs to make more unscheduled plays which he can. But he also said in a nicer way, Brock should take a more team friendly deal to keep talent around him as he's not good enough to pull a franchise by himself. Most QBs aren't
@@clickman443 Fair enough.

It could get awkward having to listen to Steve Young flap his trap all off season. The guy just loves the sound of his own voice and getting attention. It is weird. Bye, Steve. Your 15 minutes were over a long time ago. And Purdy is better than you ever were. And Joe Montana was a million times better than you.
Lmfao what an awful take. And he liked his own comment. I can tell you voted for Joe biden
You can’t be serious
@@MAG-li5jo you’ve obviously never seen Steve play because no one who has would ever say that. You obviously have an agenda about Steve.
