Im a 20 year old beatle fanatic, who especially loves McCartney's contributions and solo career. I love seeing people of the younger generations appreciate this type of music. Most people of our generation dismiss the artists of the 60s/70s and say that its outdated and old, but I feel that music from this era carries much more heart and soul than most of what has come out in the last 20+ years. I love seeing people like you react to some of the best compositions ever written
Hurrah, she's back! And she brought us a great album! Thank you, Crystal! You are the best and it's always worth waiting for you.💜💙💚👍👍👍😃 Paul McCartney is the greatest. That's why you fit so well with his music. You are the greatest too! Great reaction! I'm looking forward for he next one.
That was a very pleasant surprise! Thank you for this wonderful reaction to a great McCartney album, I really enjoyed it. Seeing your amazement with these songs is a treat. It's hard for me to image what it feels like hearing it from the first time, since it was something like 50 years ago for me. Can't wait to hear side 2...
Thank you for being so amazing and kind Lars!! I hope you are doing well! I enjoyed listening to this marvelous album for the first time alongside you guys 💛 A heart warming musical moment! I can't imagine what it must have been to listen to this music as it was coming out! Must have felt like the whole wide world was changing!!! 💛
You really need to watch Rockshow, which is concert footage from the Wings over the World tour. That was my first concert ever. 1976 in Ft. Worth TX. It is still the best concert I've ever been to, and I've seen Bruce Springsteen in concert, which still takes second place. The backstory of how he made Band on the Run is amazing. He got robbed and they took all of his lyrics and demo tapes. He recreated the album from memory, and it is still the best album in his catalog. Also, it is just him, Linda, and Denny Laine. The other band members didn't want to travel to Africa to record it. He plays multiple instruments on the album, including being the drummer.
Thank you so much for letting me know and sharing this all with me! 💛I definitely gotta check it out now! I’m excited!! Listen, it would mean the world if you let me know your thoughts on today’s clip: ruclips.net/user/shorts7_O7tkH8X9A?feature=share
All very true and factual. Here's a fun fact to add to the list of McCartney wonders - he can and has played over 40 instruments throughout his recording career. Of course that would include some simpler instruments and not all played at an expert level but nevertheless what an amazing talented man. That's why for me he is the best of the Beatles. I mean over 40 instruments, composed songs across a multitude of genre, and is talented in other art forms as well. He is a true genius. I agree too, Rock Show is a phenomenal concert.
One of my favorite albums! I grew up on this record and feel it was played for me as a baby with songs like Bluebird and Let Me Roll It with the later quite possibly being my favorite McCartney track of all time. It's always wonderful seeing you discover these gems for the first time and sharing your reaction for these is just astonishing, thank you.
Wow!!! First of all, amazing choice for a favorite album!!! I love it! 💚💚 You sound like you were a baby with magnificent taste!! thank you for being here- you are very much appreciated! I hope you enjoy today’s post: ruclips.net/user/shortsP7Wni4d5Hew?feature=share
How amazingly talented those four lads from Liverpool are/were. Each of them shining as bright (or brighter) on their own as they did together. Band on the run is quintessential Paul. He loves the action and the stage. A true artist in every sense of the word. Can’t wait for part 2. ❤❤❤😊
Hey Marissa!!!! 💙💙💙💙 Couldn’t agree more!!!! Such stellar brilliant stars all completely capable of shining on their own and finding their own paths and sounds!! 💙💙💙💙
Perfect..more paul album : venus and mars, wings at the speef of sound, london town, tug of war, mccartney 2 y 3, flaming pie, chaos and creation in the backyard, memory almos full etc etc..
I’m sure others here have mentioned that Let Me Roll It was said to be a message from Paul to John Lennon. The two had been feuding for a couple of years and Paul wanted to call a truce and this song was part of that message. He did the song in sort of a very Lennonesque style. John was said to have liked the song very much and he may have even borrowed the guitar lick for his song “Beef Jerky”. Clips for comparison can be found here on RUclips.
It is so heart warming to see how that feud can to an end!! 💚💚 Love the both of them so very much!! Hope you enjoy today’s post: ruclips.net/user/shortsP7Wni4d5Hew?feature=share
@@CrystalMarieShannon Unfortunately the feud didn't quite end ... The two went back and forth, and John was often horrible to Paul in the press (never the reverse). At the very end, they had a couple of warm conversations on the phone, which Paul holds onto as a resolution, since that was the best he'd get. They actually had plans to write and record together again when John was assassinated. Btw, as the person above says, "Let Me Roll It" was in the exact style John was using at that time, including the vocal effects. I wasn't alive back then, but apparently to fans, Paul was clearly doing a John.
This video really put a little joy into my morning. The look on your face when you heard that first “jet!” was priceless. And as usual you make some great observations. The Band On The Run album is one of the few solo-Beatles efforts that, to me, stands up well to an actual Beatles album. Keep on rocking, Crystal. See ya in part two.
Ahhh!! 💚💚 That makes me so happy! Thank you Devlin! I hope you are having the most wonderful day! I would love to hear your thoughts on today’s posting: ruclips.net/user/shortsP7Wni4d5Hew?feature=share
This was the first post-Beatle work that John Lennon publicly praised. They were past their little spat, for one thing, but also he couldn't deny how good it was. I went looking for an interview of him saying so, but instead I found an extremely rare recording of John singing the album with studio friends. He learned every word from Paul's album. ruclips.net/video/FPkC54xEEnU/видео.html
Wow!!!! This is extremely heart warming and sure to put a smile on anyone’s face! 💚 Thank you so much for sharing this with me! I hope you enjoy today’s video: ruclips.net/user/shortsP7Wni4d5Hew?feature=share

This album was one of best of the 70s makes me fill old so long ago. But also seems like yesterday strange 😮 I remember every time I would go see my grandmother she was born in 1888. She no idea about modern music but she loved the Beatles " Blackbird" I made sure I brought my Yamaha acoustic my fav. I knew she would want to hear Blackbird. To see her happy ment every thing to me after all she been through. She was the only person in her family to escape Hitlers evil.
Wow 🤍🤍🤍 sending love to you, your amazing grandmother & your family. To say that Hitler’s evil was an absolute disgusting would be a large understatement. I’m so sorry she ever had to endure that level of treatment.
@@CrystalMarieShannon thanks grandmother has been gone since 1984 I miss her story's. We learn from our elders we should spend as much time with them. I love your love for music I have the same love for it. Also these albums from the Beatles I have every one of the originals from my dad's collection he was a studio drummer in the 60s and 70s
I'm happy you are reacting to Paul McCartney and Wings, I'm pleased you are reacting to "Band On The Run", a great LP, but mostly I am super pleased to see you back!!!! Trust me you have been missed around here! I hope you are well and feeling great now. Best wishes to you Crystal, please take care of yourself!!
Thank you so very much Key! 🤍 I hope you are doing well also!!! Sending you love! I absolutely adored this side and excited to get around to side II and to see you there!!! It would mean the world to me to hear your thoughts on today’s cover: ruclips.net/user/shortsf09KWwOzHpY?feature=share
@@CrystalMarieShannon I could listen to you sing like that for a very long time - takes all other thoughts away (the stresses and strains of daily life). Very soothing. I can relax to your singing. I can only imagine how it'd sound live in a taberna -fabulous, I think.
Thank you for your wonderful and thoughtful reactions. This was the first album I ever bought and it remains one of my favorites. Such amazing artistry. It is also now a favorite of my six year old grandson. He discovered it while we were waiting in the car to pick his older brother. Now he always wants to hear that "band on the run song".
Wow!!! This an incredible album to have as a first one & it seems great taste runs in the family! 💚💚💚💚 Adorable!!! I hope you enjoy today’s vocal clip: ruclips.net/user/shortsP7Wni4d5Hew?feature=share
Great to see you back again, Crystal. I have a confession to make. I came across your channel when revisiting many Beatles rabbit holes, in 2021 I think. At the start, I thought I was watching a ditzy little Disney teenager.... what would she make of the Beatles or Pink Floyd, and why would I want hear her reactions ? Don't worry, I've since slapped myself ! I love the musical nous you bring, the freshness of real 'first time hearing', with an infectiousness. I'm now also hearing something new, even if I've known it for 40 or 50 years. BOTR was a staple for my college years, a time when you only had like a dozen or 20 LP's (Kate Bush's Kick Inside was another oft-played album for me). Thanks so much, and I look forward to Side 2 and beyond.
Thank you!!! 💛💛💛💛 This comment was very sweet and made my day!!! In all honesty, I actually do identify as a ditzy little Disney teenager… as a matter of fact I really wish I still was a teenager 🤣 It’s scary how accurate of a description that actually is. Today’s cover is actually of a Disney song ironically enough, if you wanted to check it out! ruclips.net/user/shorts7_O7tkH8X9A?feature=share I thank you so very much for being here!! Every musical moment spent listening to The Beatles or their post solo albums (as well as LZ & PF) has been beyond incredible. I’m lucky enough to have such great company like you guys to join on me! I’m very grateful. 💛
Crystal.. as much as I enjoy listening to ur vocals and singing.. I missed ur breakdown and analysis of an album.. not only do you exhibit ur musical knowledge but ur overall knowledge and intelligence.. plus I missed the chipmunk voice effect.. lol! Finally it’s also better we get to see Crystal in a longer video instead of short💙💙.. Excellent work but I would not expect any less!💕

MY AMAZING FAMILY!! BACK AND HERE TO STAY FOR GOOD! Thank you for always building me up and making this journey so wonderful for me! I appreciate all that you do, from the support, kind words to the absolutely life changing super thanks! I am forever grateful to you 💙
So good to see you and your smiling face again. 2 of Paul 's Band members quit just before they were to record this album in Africa. He said screw them, Denny and Linda and I will do it. Paul played guitar, bass, drums and a few other things. one of his 3 albums I consider masterpieces. Tug of War is great as well. Can't remember what other one, probably Ram. The songs Helen Wheels, Jet and Band on the Run were the singles from this album, in that order from 1973 through mid 1974. it was my senior year in high school. this album is timeless. Pre-Disco era. Paul McCartney was a major reason I became a school music teacher. I am still singing and playing music for folks in senior homes...yes for money...no drunks lol.
So good to see yer reaction to Band On The Run side 1. Lookin' forward to the flip side then. When you mentioned Train I thought o' their INCREDIBLE album Train does Led Zeppelin II. I doubt we'll ever hear a better tribute to a classic album. It is almost unbelievable. Their cover o' Thank You is (dare I say it) as close to perfection as is possible. You rule O.K.! All best wishes from John.
Excited to see you on the flip side too John!!! 💚 Wow thanks for letting me know, I have to check it out! I would love to hear your thoughts on today’s post: ruclips.net/user/shortsP7Wni4d5Hew?feature=share
Just imagine, Crystal, for me and other Beatles fans a few years after the band split, hearing this brilliant album. It sent shivers down your spine in beautiful riffs of never heard before music. Paul is magical. I think this album is his best works, although Paul usually has a Beatles effect on you, just how he puts a song together and sings with nice harmonies and tasteful instrumentation. All the best !!!
Oh yes!!! I can only imagine what that must have been like and I will always wonder about that experience and harbor a bit of sadness that I will never feel the experience of hearing the music at it’s release and getting to witness the world take it in for the first time as well and completely change because of it. However, I am grateful to live in a world where not only does this beautiful creation exist but it is easily accessible and so many other great works and artists have come out of using its as inspiration! 🤍 It would mean the world to me to hear your thoughts on today’s posting: ruclips.net/user/shortsf09KWwOzHpY?feature=share
@@CrystalMarieShannon Beautiful song. Reminds me of Vikki Carr's Hasta Que Vuelvas and other Spanish love songs. Well sung with emotion. I loved much ! Thank you. Gracias.
The appreciation that overcomes your expressions with some of this music warms my soul. Especially since its both from pure appreciation as well as a place of knowledge.
Hi Crystal! Glad to see you're back. For me this is one of the very best Beatle solo albums. I was about 9 when it came out and was just blown away. By the way, Let Me Roll It was one of John's favorite McCartney solo tracks. Thanks for making today a little brighter...cheers!

Feels like old times..another engaging reaction. When this album came out and was playing on the school bus radio and all the kids would sing to Jet...I felt I could live in a post Beatles world.
Welcome back to my favorite music reactor!! Amazing choice as you picked one of Paul's best solo albums. Seeing the moments of joy you had hearing S1 of Band on the Run lifted my spirits. This music is truly magical. And yet another record where Paul shows why he's a genius. Fun fact. On the deluxe edition of this album, Paul said in an interview that musically he could do John, and John could do him. "Let Me Roll It" was Paul doing John. And it's an incredible song! But my fave on this album is probably Band on the Run. I love its creativity and that it doesn't have a typical song structure. Please don't keep us waiting too long for your reaction to side 2! I can't wait to hear it!
Thank you so much for being here Daniel & making my day all the better and brighter!!!! So interesting to here about Paul and John able to emulate each other! I didn’t even realize while listening but now that you point that out I can definitely hear it! 💙💙💙💙 Thanks!!! Side II out soon as possible!

Glad to see you back, hope you're doing well. Great reaction as always. Band on the Run is an amazing song and my favorite Paul solo effort. I've always thought it would have fit in perfectly on Abbey Road.
Awesome that you've gotten to this one. This is noteworthy for being McCartney first solo album to get immediate critical praise in addition to commercial success. Granted, a lot of that lacking critical praise was a byproduct of Beatles breakup baggage, and McCartney frequently (and unfairly) being painted as the villain as it was happening. Still, it must have felt nice back then to release a solo album that not only felt satisfying to make, but also got positive feedback right away, after years without.
I am so happy to have arrived at this one too!! Luckily he is so magnificently talented that each new album (honestly each new song) competes as my new favorite! That is so interesting to learn but super sad to hear that McCartney was painted as the villain considering that he is so amazing! Thank you for sharing this with me my friend!! Very grateful to be here with you Leif!💙
What a treat to watch you absorb what many considered Paul's true emergence as a solo artist. Everyone was devastated by the band breaking up, and for a while, it was hard to imagine any of them individually being as good as they were collectively. But Paul really broke through with this gem of an album. As always, Crystal, you are a beauty to behold as you immerse yourself in this brilliant music. It truly like hearing the album for the first time, once again. I love your heart, your ear for greatness, and your spellbinding, impassioned deliveries. You are such a delight, Crystal. ☺️♥️

I grew up with this music (I was 5 when it came out) - always been my favourite post Beatles album. Paul McCartney 1973-76 was at the very peak in terms of his voice, and creatively he was quite amazing. (He was obviously unbelievably good before that, but the Band on the Run album, Live and Let Die, and the triple album Wings over America were staples of mine for many years.)
Wow!!! That’s amazing! 🤍 I’m sure listening to this for the first time is an experience worth remembering forever as a 5 year old!!! Sounds like beautiful music was involved in your life from a very very early start! I’d love to hear your thoughts on today’s post: ruclips.net/user/shortsf09KWwOzHpY?feature=share
What a fantastic video, it's a pleasure to watch you react so viscerally and intelligently to this incredible music! My band learned this whole side as a passion project, and Jet is hands down THE most fun song to play - every single time! It gets MORE fun to play each time, and we joke that we want to do a whole set where we just play it over and over. A testament to flawless and brilliant songwriting. I look forward to more of your videos, keep up the great work, you are lovely!!
Paul mccartney recorded this album in Africa. He was walking around one night some guy Grabbed him one night. He had a cassette with the masters Of all the songs on the tape. He had to go back to the recording studio before he forgotten.
YAY, NEW ALBUM REVIEW! Ms. Crystal, I enjoy hearing your interpreations of these albums almost as much as I do your lovely singing! "Band On The Run" was one of my favorites to listen to repeatedly when I was a youth. Great to revisit this with you, ma'am! 🙂

The amazing thing about this album is it's just Paul, Linda and Denny Laine. Paul asked EMI where they had other studios. So when he chose one in Africa, Lagos in Nigeria I believe, his drummer and guitarist refused to go.
😎👍 If it's of interest, in late 1973, "Helen Wheels" was a big hit single in the U.S. and was thus, included on side 2 of the American version of this album. It was not on the British version. I don't know which iteration of the album you're listening to, but when it was re-issued on CD in the 1980s, it also included a couple of bonus tracks, "Country Dreamer" (originally the B-side of "Helen Wheels") and "Zoo Gang" (originally the B-side of the British single of the title cut). This album really went on to dominate both the AM and FM airwaves during the first half of 1974. "Jet" and "Band On The Run" were both #1 hits.
Hmmm!! Thanks for letting me know my friend!! 💚 I hope we get the full experience then when we arrive at side II! I’d love to hear your thoughts on today’s sound bite: ruclips.net/user/shortsP7Wni4d5Hew?feature=share
Coll to see you finally give this album a listen. A truly great album and up there as one of my favorite solo Beatle projects and definitely one of my favorite of his post-Beatles projects. Band On The Run, RAM, Tug of War, Flaming Pie & Chaos And Creation are definitely his best projects. With that said STILL pretty much all his post-Beatles work ranges from good to REALLY good outside of Press To Play, Off The Ground & Driving Rain.
It’s so good to see you too! 🤍 & ahhhhhhh that makes me all the more excited going forward!! So many wonderful things to look forward to! Makes getting through the Beatles work a little less sad! “Let me roll it” was the answer to John Lennons “How do you sleep” (which was aimed at Paul ) Paul even makes “Let me roll it” sound, like a song John would write, (like the intro and the slap-back echo ) If you listen to “How do you sleep” by John you’ll get what I mean.
I totally get what you are saying!! It’s a wonderful combo of the best of both of their sounds!! 💚 I hope you enjoy today’s upload: ruclips.net/user/shortsP7Wni4d5Hew?feature=share

Band on the Run is a classic! If you're interested, I have something for you Crystal! There's a Dutch band that's playing the later Beatles albums live on stage, which the Beatles never did play obviously. They even use the same instruments as on the record and have their own orchestra with them. They're called The Analogues. They released an album with own work last year as well that went number 1 in the Dutch Album Charts! It's also thanks to them, I got to visit Abbey Road studios! Highly recommend checking them out!
The Analogues are absolutely incredible and their dedication to the musical side (not the cheesy costuming) makes them the best Beatles cover band out there.

Hey, beautiful, It was an absolute joy to watch your reaction to these opening five tracks. This was Paul's fifth solo album, and I, along with many others, felt this was when he finally raised his game back to Beatle level. It took four years to get there, but after "Band on the Run," there was no looking back for the maestro. I think it took Paul this long, too, to realize he could deliver a Beatle-level musical creation and never again have to look into that haunting rearview mirror. Critics unanimously raved about this album after beating him up pretty mercilessly over a majority of what preceded it. Did you get a chance to see the videos that accompanied the 1994 and 1995 Beatles swan-song tunes? It is always such a treat to see you in action, Crystal. You work your magic on so many levels. 👏👍🥂 I'm sending you lots of love and heartfelt appreciation for all you do. Take the best of care of yourself, my sweet. ❤
Hi Crystal! So nice to see you back in the long form... And what a wonderful album to inaugurate your return with! 1973 was such a great year for music and Band on the Run was one of my favorite albums of that year. This album was recorded mostly by the trio of Paul, Linda and Denny Laine... Guitarist Henry McCullough and drummer Denny Seiwell had quit the band at the last minute, leaving Paul to pick up the slack by providing the drums and even more guitar than usual in addition to his wondrous bass and piano playing. The title track is an epic opener and Jet takes it up another notch. Bluebird takes us down before Mrs Vanderbilt picks up the pace again and leading us into a real WTF side closer. Let Me Roll It stands out, not only for its odd time signature and double entendres, but also for its abundance of vocal and musical Lennonisms. This was recorded in the middle of their post-Beatle feud and I believe it was meant as an olive branch from Paul to John. This is my second favorite song on the album [*SPOILER ALERT:* we haven't heard my favorite yet] Welcome back! This post was like a breath of desperately needed fresh air. Cheers!
Welcome back! Welcome to the emergence of 'Wings harmonies'. Linda used to get so much flack, but from now on her harmonisation with Paul went from strength to strength.
Thank you for the welcome Nigel! 💚 I’m so excited to be delving into the Wings and everything that comes with it! I hope you enjoy today’s number: ruclips.net/user/shortsP7Wni4d5Hew?feature=share

I've always been more of a John Lennon fan than a McCartney fan, so I didn't really listen to many of his albums. He songs always felt more slight compared to Lennon's. I only had a handful of McCartney songs on my computer. But this past year I actually listened to almost all his albums from the 70s in their anniversary editions and found how many great songs there are on there. I still think the songs feel a little slight compared to Lennon, but there are some really great songs on those albums.
They have made so much amazing music it is such a gift to us because we can continue to hear something entirely new to our ears seemingly forever! 💚💚 I hope you enjoy today’s selection: ruclips.net/user/shortsP7Wni4d5Hew?feature=share
So for a little back story on this album! Paul planned on doing an on location recording session in Africa with the band Wings but it ended up being only Paul , Linda and Denny Laine in the recording studio! Paul played every instrument but some acoustic guitar by Denny during recording some instruments were added later in post production!
Fun fact, most of this album was recorded in an EMI-owned recording studio in Lagos. And yes, I do mean Lagos, Nigeria. Apparently, Paul was thinking recording in a more exotic location from his perspective would inspire more creativity, and give the recording session time a feel more akin to a holiday than work, naïve to the fact that Nigeria was still recovering from a recent Civil War, and the recording studio itself was very poorly maintained. Nonetheless, these drawbacks, plus a day of passing out from a bronchial spasm due to his smoking habit combined with the humidity, and a knife-point robbery of his written lyrics and demo tapes which necessitated recording these songs from memory, didn't prevent him and the band from making one heck of a strong pop rock album for the early 70s.
Another drawback was Denny Seiwell and Henry McCullough both quitting Wings right before they were set to leave for Africa, so Paul, Linda and Denny Laine had to 3-man the album, with the help of Nigerian studio musicians.
And apparently, Fela Kuti (a prominent local activist and musical pioneer of the time), showed up to the studio one day, worried that the group of famous British musicians were recording in the former British colony Nigeria (hence EMI owning a recording studio there) for more insidiously appropriative reasons, and got a bit confrontational about it, but left in decent spirits after actually listening in to the recording sessions and finding nothing indicating his fears coming true in his mind. I also wonder if McCullough and Seiwell left, in part because they sensed that recording in Nigeria was going to be more trouble than it was worth at the time.
@@CrystalMarieShannon thanks Crystal! You should listen to the live version and also the version with Paul and Linda doing a medley... kinda heartbreaking now.. ruclips.net/video/h7VBJykL3lo/видео.html&ab_channel=TheBeatlesDay

It is always an absolute pleasure to listen to astounding music in your company! Thank you for being here! And I love that description for Band on The Run- completely agree!💛
@@CrystalMarieShannon The song is great, of course. Your voice has a woodwind quality to it. A timbre similar to a clarinet. Which is magnificent. I also detect a flavor of young Dolly in there. What’s amazing is two of his band left leaving the core of Paul, his wife Linda, and Denny Laine. They went to record in Lagos and got mugged there Out of adversity this his greatest Wings album emerged My favourite song is the last one "Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five"
That is truly a spectacular and unbelievably admirable story! This absolute world class work of art came out of such a stressful situation! Beyond inspiring! Paul McCartney, ❤️🥰 so many amazing songs...when you're done with the whole álbum, you'll should listen to the live versions of "Let me roll It" and "1985" (one hand clapping). I usually don't like live versions, but those two are very special.
I hope someday I can listen to this album with someone who is experiencing it for the first time. And ideally is a music lover like Crystal. Manisfesting!

@@CrystalMarieShannon so in love with Paul playing acoustic on Blackbird…we don’t have a lot of video of the Beatles. So that one is special with him practicing the song in the studio. Crystal, I'm so glad you loved this one! I'm amazed (maybe I'm amazed? Ha!) that you hadn't heard this one before. It's called Band on the Run because his drummer and guitarist left just before recording, so he did the whole album by himself with some help from Denny Laine and Linda McCartney. Great album! Many say his best, though I also love Ram and Red Rose Speedway. Dracula (and Lord of the Rings) legend Christopher Lee is on the cover, among other notables.
Wow!!! 💕💕💕💕 talk about turning a situation completely around!!! that is makes all the beauty and genius experienced here all the more rewarding and impressive!! must have been scary but he definitely pulled out brilliance! 💕💕💕💕
@@CrystalMarieShannon happy Wednesday to you too, Crystal! Even though I'm seeing this on Thursday officially haha. Thanks for the kind words! Hope you're doing well!
Boy, are you back!! One of the best Macca LPs. "Let Me Roll It" is supposedly Paul's response to John Lennon's harsh comments on "How Do You Sleep" from "Imagine" (a song you'll recall). Instead of counterattacking him lyrically he paodied his musical style - or so some people have said. Personally, I still like it even if this isn't so.
Actually the song “Dear Friend” from the first Wings album “Wildlife” was Paul’s response to Lennon’s HDYS. But ABSOLUTELY “Let Me Roll It” was aimed at Lennon as well.
FACTS ABOUT 'BAND ON THE RUN' -Recordings began in Lagos, Nigeria; -The sound engeneer was Geoff Emerick same from some Beatles days; -McCarteney passed out during the recording; -McCartney plays drums on the album; -McCartney couple was robbed during recording forcing Paul to remember all the songs, because all the demos was taken; - The sax that everyone enjoys in this album was played by Howie Casey who Paul met since Liverpool; - Jet was a horse; -Two members from Wings left the band days from they trip to Lagos......

Crystal! I’m so happy! 😀 This is what many people consider to be Paul McCartney’s best solo album. It says Wings, but only three members of the band (Paul, Linda McCartney, and Denny Laine) performed on it. “Band On The Run”: such a great opener. It’s a bit like “Happiness Is A Warm Gun”, three songs rolled into one and both conclude in C major. “Jet”: such a cool rocker. I also love the horns and sax. And that piano! “Bluebird”: lovely ballad, love the harmonies. Wings did a live version that I actually think is even better. But this one is a nice break from the two rockers. “Mrs. Vandebilt”: I love that bassline. The “ho, hey ho!” callbacks. The maniacal laughter at the end. Love it. “Let Me Roll It”: many people believe this was an homage to John Lennon. You picked up on the “Come Together” and “I Want You (She’s So Heavy)” sound. The reverb, the stripped-back sound is very Lennon. Fun fact: a year later John did a song called “Beef Jerky” an instrumental which has a guitar riff that sounds exactly like Paul’s here on this song. Many believe it was John’s way of reciprocating Paul. Loved this, Crystal! You are the BEST. 🤗🤗🤗🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️
Wow yes yes yes!!! Thank you so very much for sharing your thoughts my kind and amazing friend! 💙💙💙💙 I completely agree with everything you just said!!! And that’s awesome! I can’t wait until we come around to Beef Jerky!! 💙

@@CrystalMarieShannon Hey! I just did. 😊 Thank you! Have you ever seen “The Glenn Miller Story”? It’s a really good movie and there’s a scene in the movie that I love where Jimmy Stewart and June Allyson are talking about the sound every great band has. Glenn Miller : A band oughta have a sound all of its own, oughta have a personality. Helen Burger : Sort of like a person. Glenn Miller : Uh-huh. Helen Burger : Well, how do you get this different sound? Glenn Miller : You see, the arrangements, the way you score each one of the individual instruments. Some bands have that sound already, like Pollack, but it's not the right sound, not for me. Helen Burger : What is? Glenn Miller : I don't know. I don't know. I haven't found it yet. But someday I'm gonna find it. I love that. It’s so true. Every great band has its own sound. Where you know after 2 seconds who it is. You know it’s Beatles or Queen after just a couple of seconds. The genius is having the ability to retain that sound but make each song unique. I just wanted to share that. BTW I love “Moonlight Serenade” by Glenn Miller. My favorite song of his. 🤗🤗🤗❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏

You are the best and it's always worth waiting for you.💜💙💚👍👍👍😃
Paul McCartney is the greatest. That's why you fit so well with his music. You are the greatest too!

Let Me Roll it was written for John and he used the echo effect John loved on his vocal.
That’s so cool especially because it totally has a Lennon sound to it! 🤍🤍 I would love to hear your thoughts on today’s posting: ruclips.net/user/shortsf09KWwOzHpY?feature=share
My all time greatest fave album ! So happy that you came back! With my fave album!

The amazing thing about this album is it's just Paul, Linda and Denny Laine. Paul asked EMI where they had other studios. So when he chose one in Africa, Lagos in Nigeria I believe, his drummer and guitarist refused to go.

Finally you are back with Live Music not just singing dry solos without any music at all!! BRAVO!!
Wonderful to have your Crystalline commentary and analysis back!
“Let me roll it” was the answer to John Lennons “How do you sleep” (which was aimed at Paul )
Paul even makes “Let me roll it” sound, like a song John would write, (like the intro and the slap-back echo )
If you listen to “How do you sleep” by John you’ll get what I mean.

@Crystal Shannon another wonderful song, and you did a fantastic job 👏 😀 👍
Hey, beautiful,
It was an absolute joy to watch your reaction to these opening five tracks.
I'm sending you lots of love and heartfelt appreciation for all you do.
This is my second favorite song on the album [*SPOILER ALERT:* we haven't heard my favorite yet]
Welcome back! This post was like a breath of desperately needed fresh air.
Cheers!
Your connection between Paul and Train was an interesting one that I had never thought of before. Thank you for a great reaction to this masterpiece!

Oh my goodness. Missed you so much! Crystal it's great to see you again. Great, great album too! Fantastic choice!
Missed you Dave!! Always so grateful to see you here! Sending love and blessings and wishes for you to have just the most amazing week ever 💛
@@Wintertalent yeah Paul was just like, “well I love playing lead guitar and drums so I’ll just do it.”

But ABSOLUTELY “Let Me Roll It” was aimed at Lennon as well.

all the songs, because all the demos was taken;
- The sax that everyone enjoys in this album was played by Howie Casey
who Paul met since Liverpool;
- Jet was a horse;
-Two members from Wings left the band days from they trip to Lagos......

@@CrystalMarieShannon Love you, my friend! ❤️❤️❤️🤗🤗🤗🙏🙏🙏 Crystal, some people have speculated that this could be a concept album with recurring themes of flight and escape. Please let us know what you think after listening to the rest of it. 😊
@@Sweetish_Jeff_ Huh!!! That’s for sharing this tidbit of info!!! I can definitely hear that and excited to go into the second half with that in mind 💛💛 I hope you like today’s post: ruclips.net/user/shorts7_O7tkH8X9A?feature=share
@@Sweetish_Jeff_ Wow!! 💚💚 Thank you so much for sharing this with me Jeff! It’s so powerful- that is exactly the magic that goes into bands and their sound! So true!!! I was even thinking of LZ and how distinct their sounds is!!! I hope you are doing well, having the most wonderful day & enjoy today’s short: ruclips.net/user/shortsP7Wni4d5Hew?feature=share
Still considered Sir P.'s best LP. It was recorded in Lagos, Nigeria under difficult circumstances.
Hey there my friend!!! It’s been a while!! 🤍 And wow!! That really goes to show how genius Paul is. His gift is a blessing for us all! I would love to hear your thoughts on today’s cover: ruclips.net/user/shorts0D1Oi30dqow?feature=share
