We use to have the movie, it was my mom's movie and it wasn't mine and after my mom passed away I sold it in a garage sale along with many stuff that I had no attachments to or not anymore and I never think of anything of it. Just some fun fact, this movie is a remake of a year 2000 korean movie named "Il Mare", the guy who played in the korean version is played by Lee Jung-jae who is now popularly know as the male lead in the korean hit series Squid Game.
Can`t believe its remade from a korean movie but it also stars the beloved on-screen couple Bullock and Reeves! How i loved watching the movie!It was so emotional and romantic!
I live up the street from where this was filmed in Palos Hills. It’s about 20 minutes from Chicago. They built the house for the movie and then tore it down after it was finished filming. It would’ve been incredible if they kept it up. It’s so beautiful out here.

EXPLANATION FOR THOSE WHO DIDN'T UNDERSTOOD:- In The Lake House, two separate times Kate asks Alex to wait two years so he'll be able to meet her. First at the restaurant, and then at the end when she saves him from getting hit by the bus. If he waits two years to meet her at a specific spot (the mailbox, the restaurant) wouldn't that also be a two year jump for her? If he's two years behind her how can they ever sync up and meet? Wouldn't they always be two years apart? 2004-2006 would turn to 2006-2008, 2008-2010, and so on. Now first of all, as many other time travel movies, this film also suffers from a not entirely consistent time travel logic and ignores some paradoxes that would arise from changing the past. Sometimes it uses a self-consistency interpretation where things already happened in exactly the same way as the people try to make them happen, and at other times it employs an interpretation where you can change the past. The film uses time travel in a way that's just logical enough on the surface to tell its story about fate, love, togetherness across time, so don't expect a 100% physicaly plausible interpretation of reality from this film. However, that being said, the time travel is still coherent enough to answer your question within the movie's own logic, in which the story still makes sense.
