This homemade twin boom Specter style pusher plane project was built during "stay at home" orders-Spring 2020. Long nose-version post-crash, better C/G and battery room. Flown May 2024. V.2 version has upgraded ply booms replacing the coroplast.
I decided to re-use a R/C HELICOPTER carcass a 2nd time around. I wanted a great flying twin boom pusher using a 48" / 1.21M Cub wing, where I added ailerons and vector generators for low speed performance.
Another concept was to have the Coroplast triangular booms supported by the center body, not the wings. The original Carbon Fiber shafts out of the helicopter framing supporting the booms have been changed to Bamboo shafts to resist shear during poor landings (crashes!)
This flight is using a 3000 3S LiPo, 1400 kva brushless motor, 30a ESC, and 8x3.8SF prop. The prop in back as a pusher saves the props and a clear forward view for minicams is the result. Flies great, loves low level flight and usually lands nice, stable and slow.
