Hey! Thanks so much for checking out one of my videos. My suggestion is to find an open field for your first few flights - get used to the drone’s attitude (how it handles)
Also get to know it’s weak spots. It has sensors on the bottom but the side and back are places that won’t detect thing s to avoid. Lastly in the settings check the Return Home altitude and make sure that is set to a safe height. Hope this helps! Have fun

Drones use GPS for RTH. But GPS is only accurate to within 10 - 15 feet usually. The Mavic 3 has Precision Landing. This works by hovering the drone after take off to all it to capture an image of the take off area. Then during the final stage of landing it uses that image for a precise touch down.

    • @The-Drone-Guy
      @The-Drone-Guy  3 месяца назад

Oh wow thanks for this awesome insight. I totally was aware of your first comment but the precision landing was only something I might have assumed was possible. But to hear that it uses it makes sense. Anywhere I can read up more on this??

My two flights RTH worked like a charm on my 2SE. First flight lost signal and it returned and landed fine. second flight battery got low and just as it cleared the tree line, it started to land. Really settled my nerves in RTH. I have found once it is close to landing I prefer to take back control. Thanks for the videos!

I've also received the message a few times when landing that the area under the aircraft is unsuitable for landing. Like you, I wasn't sure why, as it was solid concrete below...but no problem for me to just switch to manually landing it. I also have noticed about a 3-4 foot variance from takeoff point to where it landed. But since I'm landing in a fairly open area, I'm ok with that. The Mini 2 SE is just such a joy to fly! And as always, great videos and information! Thanks, and keep them coming.

Cool video. I was told that in order to gain better accuracy that the landing area should have some sort of break-up to it (such as the markings on an actual landing pad) This way the drone can get a more accurate sense of where to land. I was also told to let the drone hang there a few meters up for about 30 seconds before flying away, like you did the 2nd time. It seems that a perfectly flat surface such as smooth concrete (or a pallet) doesn't have enough structure for the drone to recognize the landing zone as well

You changed the variables just enough from one drone to the other to not be sure what to think? It seemed to me that with the mini 2 se you held the controller under the drone when it was to close to the ground when landing and maybe it detected the signal from the controller and prevented the landing, where with the Mavic 3 you pulled the controller away while it was still high enough to not detect the controller signal I just dont know? I also have a mini 2 SE and haven't used the RTH feature, now Im going to have to give it a try! Fun watch thanks! 🚁PS I have seen a lot of RTH videos, but not once have I seen a landing that perfect!!!!

Hey there thanks so much for tuning into the channel! This was my first go at a test and so part of it was like you saw a little spontaneous. Thanks, that is a fun comparison, I would watch more videos like this. I wonder if doing a manual home point update on the controller before or right after takeoff would make any difference? Most of my fights end with a forced return to home with the controller button rather than flying it back and my Mini 2 usually lands with at least 1 leg on the 30" round landing pad. It's pretty accurate so far.

The mini 2 doesn’t have the same precision software as the 3. That being said you didn’t really acquire a proper home point with the 2. As compared to the 3 The home point was acquired almost instantly. I’m new to drones and I have the 2se mini Ive tested the rth and it’s landed within a foot radius of the home point consistently. I’ve watched other videos on the 2se and while it’s not as accurate as the Mavic 3 it is pretty good. Anyway fun video

Hey! I would definitely suggest watching my videos on the quick shots features. The mini 2 se has some great built in video maneuvers that make capturing video.
Mostly these drones are used for still images. For real estate it is always good to use a drone when highlighting privacy, proximity to water, boundary overlays and neighborhoods. Also great when that house is on a hill and there is no way to get a straight on portrait from the ground.
A big tip is to always make sure to include the horizon line if you can, keeping the angle of the drone between 10-15 degrees is usually best. Downloading apps such as B4UFLY and UAV Forecast will also help make sure you’re flying safely.
I have been wanting to do a video on how I got into real estate and real estate photography, you have motivated me big time! Hope this helps in the interim 😁👍📸

Just my opinion, but seeing how precise an RTH landing is not too important to me as long as it's within a few yards of takeoff. The critical issue is that it does come home. I've never had a controller fail that forced an RTH so that I couldn't take over . I have gone out of range but in those cases you can take back over as soon as signal reconnects. If I do an RTH I always tweak the landing to hit my pizza box (lol) or carefully do a hand landing keeping fingers safe from the props of course. Get ya an extra large pizza box, I'd hate to lug that pallet around! 😀 Enjoyed the video, thanks.

I used RTH to bring mi Mini SE2 back and it was way off. I was sitting 10 feet East of the "Take-off pad," and flew the drone approximately 20 meters high and a distance of approximately 50 meters when I pushed the RTH. the drone tried to land 20 feet Northwest of the Landing pad crashing into a tree.
When I sent it back for repairs they claimed the RTH was accurate.
In the future I will assume the RTH is only 30 to 40 feet of the take-off zone accurate.
I'm convinced the remote placement has nothing to do with the RTH zone.
I was in the Allegheny Mountains at the time and this may have distorted the GPS.

I am surprised by the Mavic hitting the pad. Civilian use GPS is intentionally not accurate; not to that level. The alignment is in constant motion to limit accuracy from those who would wish us harm. It can even be turned off at any time. Having said that, full scale aviation and navigation for instrument approaches are aided by WAAS Wide Area Augmentation System. Basically, a ground station reads the "float" in the GPS system and the aircraft systems use this for correction. I suspect some of this is going on with the Drone. If it has a GPS on the transmitter, it is acting in the same regard. If the transmitter GPS location is 3 foot left, then the drone moves 3 foot left.

Hey! That is a great question and the answer is yes! haha I had noticed this issue about 4-5 flights into having the drone. However I was leaving for a trip and couldnt take the time to send back into DJI. I have since started the process of having them send me a new one. For awhile it was minor but now it truly effects my shots so badly it is a pain! In all my 8 years of flying dji never had this issue so it is a new thing for me. I chalk it up to the mini models having very simple gimbal systems subject to error.
I suggest anyone with this issue send theirs back to DJI asap and from what I hear they are fantastic about these issues and fixing them and in many cases sending a new unit. Hope this helps!
