- A drone recently struck a Russian airbase located over 200KM from the Ukraine border. The airbase is home to the 52nd Heavy Bomber Aviation Regiment equipped with Tu-22M3s. Ukrainian sources stated two Tu-22M3s destroyed; Russian governor countered the claim. Unlike high-performance tactical fighters, the Tu-22M3 can embark on long-distance missions. Large, nuclear-capable bombers intimidate the enemy & can also hunt down enemy warships. The enemy targets forward bases & carriers; bombers thus are less exposed to an attack.

Attack missiles, so it's one way. They don't make round trips.
It is the radical distance, so it is one way. Within that distance it can drop the bombs and return to the airbase.

@@RasPutintheGreat Tu-22M has a combat range of 2500 km with a load of 10,000 Kg weapons load. That is one way, but the aircraft can also carry extra fuel in tanks or be refueled at altitude. It is usually used to launch guided missiles like Kh-22/32/47/55 which all have ranges of 2000 + Km, so the aircraft never has to come close to Ukrainian air defenses-it can launch it's missiles from on far.

Russia got pissed when Shell was about to drill for oil/gas in the Donbas in 2013. This would have made the Russian stranglehold on Europe's energy not a thing. That's when Russia started it's misinformation campaign, which led to the invasion in 2014. Russia doesn't care about the people of Donbas, just it's natural resources.
I have a feeling the way ukraine with the backing of western countries hitting crimea bridge sending a drone against Tu -22 airbase, most likely in very near future we could see the possible use of tactical or small yield nuclear weapons a from Russia against ukraine.

Taking control of Mariopol completely it is being reconstructed at a very fast pace. People are happy that is why the West quite about it. Russia is bombarding Kiev if they take Kiev the war is over. Not all reservists are active, they are being trained. Once they are done watch what is comming. When Ukraine declares the end of the war then they can say they defeated Russia at this point not even close.
Attacking Russian base 200 km inside UN/Intl' recognised Russian border is something of a foolhardy move. I don't care if some planes were destroyed or drones were shot down. Russia was arrogant when it attacked Ukr, now Ukr is being arrogant that it is attacking Russia beyond the zones of conflicts. in India we don't support Ukraine it is not in our best interests we are a neutral country on the world stage and Russia has overwhelming support among Indians I don't think you would find an Indian who knows a bit about geopolitics supporting Ukraine
