I am absolutely fascinated with how you form a clip on that shoe! Also, I had a horse with first stage navicular in his right front hoof. We had him shod all the way around with with pads in the front. The farrier would put the shoe and pad on, and then use a caulking gun to inject silicone under the pad in the back. We always wrapped it with duct tape until it set up. I wished I had thought of saran wrap! It worked out anyway, and my horse died sound at the age of thirty-three. I still miss him. He was as push-button as it gets, and would stand all day, for the farrier, but he was terrified of veterinarians. He was such a well-mannered guy, he never, ever tried to kick or strike the vet. 🐎
I had no idea how complex shoeing horses. Been watching several different channels recently. Very interesting to see the solutions for the various problems!
This is very cool to watch. Until just recently I had no clue that you guys had to hand forge horseshoes. I always just assumed that you bought a box of them and put them on lol. I could sit and watch these and cows hooves be trimmed all day long. I guess I'm a weirdo lol.
Ok, I understand the need for the acrylic to stabilize the hoof and help ensure the horse doesn't throw the shoe. But I would think the acrylic would hinder the regrow of new hoof wall because it doesn't have any room to grow into.
What is the curing/hardening process of the acrylic? i. e. does it harden by adding a hardener like an epoxy or ??? How long did it take to cure/harden before being ready to file/finish?
I've used acrylic resin glue like this before in manufacturing, ours sets in about 4 hours. It's a 2 part resin contained in a caulking like tube, with a mixing tip that combines the resin and hardener.
Hooves are like nails. Imagine you chipped a nail. It would grow out but at the same time, the rest("healthy part") would too. As the hoof grows he would trim the hoof as if it were whole, then let it grow again and trim again. Repeat until the acrylic is gone.
Do all farrier learn blacksmithing? Or is it a speciality subset. Before these videos, I thought they carried a wide assortment of store bought shoes & chose the best one for the application.
Even shoers who are using keg shoes, often put them in the forge and heat them up to shape them. It's a good question. Certainly in the past they were. I'm just not sure.
I don't know a thing about horses and I don't like to get near them. Why I don't know. I do enjoy the videos but, I wish you show them walking before and after. For sure I stay the entire 10, 15, 20 or more minutes when I see the horses walking before and after. One question, why is it call FROG? I don't see the resemblance.

Love how you showed making the horseshoe. Glad you were able to use your skills to help this horse.

That's topline farriership right there! Sounds like the horse was mighty impressed, too! 😆👍

The way you drew out that lip of metal on the shoe was impressive. You’d make quite the bladesmith if you aren’t one already!
HOW SKILLED YOU ARE! THANKS FOR HELPING OUT THIS HORSE & OTHERS!!! Do take care. Fl.

You could have been a dentist. That was a beautiful compound restoration! Equine artistry indeed.
Отличная работа!
This is an amazing craft... Wow I am fascinated by this men! 8
"I don't know, just call 911" whaaaat??
As the hoof grows out do you trim the acrylic or do you have to chip off the acrylic and redo it?
trim it or rasp it
That's probably the idea just like your toenail
Love the shoeing process.

The trick with the shrink wrap. Is borderline genius
좋은 영상 잘 봤습니다 한국은 수퍼패스트 같은 말굽 복원하는 실리콘이 많이 비싸요
Very NICE! IDAHO MAN! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Absolutely amazing.👍🏻
Great work.
Good job 👍
You can hear the horse saying, "Aaahhhhhh... that's better."
Excellent video. Thanks for sharing.
Out of curiosity how long does the acrylic take to harden?
nice job
Very good repair!
Not the prettiest manicure I've ever seen, but as Anjelah Johnson says, "Beautiful nail. Just one." 😄
Eres bueno hermano.. 👍 👏 👏
Interesting solution. Well done.
Brilliant 👍
Lucky horse 😂🐎🐎🐎

It’s a two part that mixes in the tip.it usually hardens in a few mins depending on the temperature.
Fantastico
👍👍👍👍👍
Bravo 👍
Класс! высший пилотаж!
I were young again I'd love to be a farrier.
good working congratulations

I don’t know your name, but I can tell it’s you by your “banged up” thumb nail! 😍
Good repair.
Excellent.
I hear you Hollering Big Dog, I mean Horse. It does look much better.
👍🏼💙🐴
Like 💕💕💕
Зачем я это смотрю? У меня нет коня и тем более копыт.)
When love meets skill 😶
I know why horseshoes are considered good luck!
could you use red acrylic next time? I mean black nail polish is such a goth thing 🙃
Will there be a follow-up after the hoof has grown and needs a new shoe?
This looks like a job well done. I'm wondering wouldn't the acrylic prevent the hoof from growing into the space filled by the acrylic?

✨She just got her nails 💅🏼 done.✨
The use of microplane in this video intrigued me.
My nail tech couldn’t do that well!
My guess is this guy is a student. Gotta start somewhere and he seems to be doing a good job.
What happens when you take off the glued shoe?
Good job hope it work out ok
The horse later went around to his mates saying 'Ya'll can call me black-hoof!'
Why do you tap hammer before during and after hitting work piece
I'm going to take a guess here that it's to do with the nature of the rhythm of the work.
@@weehelen1 I think it also has to do with interrupting the shock of the blow up the arm.
Is hoove like a toenail?
Yes, same material
@@redbirddeerjazz really interesting
is that like a fungus that do that to the hoof
I would of used 3M windshield on metal hooves to cushion the impact these poor guys suffer.
Thought the same thing, maybe a little less messy to apply as well
It looks more like a two part urethane product rather than an actual acrylic
an induction heater would be quicker

干的漂亮
That's a fragile hoof; I think I see a wall crack starting on the opposite side of the hoof.
aren't you gonna put some bondo on it??
I love that you make your own shoes, but I hope you’re wearing ear protection or you’ll have hearing aids in your 40’s.
痛くはないんだろうけど見てて怖い
it sucks to be a animal !!!
Hammer is too loud. Disrespectful.
Its a working shop, the videos are just bonus income.
It's pink it means you went in too fucking far.
Probably bruising due to the hoof breaking off.
Pink just means the hoof is bruised. If it starts to bleed, then they have gone too far.
