I've never read this one! And I thought I'd read all his stories. You read it beautifully, great story. Lovecraft was as gifted as he was cursed.
Aloha from Hawaii 🌋🏝️🌈! Another jem Josh. Poor H.P.,he really suffered because of his empathy.
Perhaps he suffered most from fear, though. His empathy was so selective. Had he not died so young perhaps knowledge would've aged gracefully into wisdom.
Really good
Thank u
Nice job, Josh. And a great story for our times here in California. 12:34
An incredible story of hope from the least expected sources. If the Street fails us, we must summon Cthulhu. NOT IT
Over and over and over again. Our history. Like it's new. This is how predictable it's become for our enemies. God I hope we break these chains forever. This time.
I like it
Sounds like Detroit
If only he could see how ruinous things are now..
LOVECRAFT WAS RIGHT
Quite true. Not just in spirit, but in physicality as well.
One of Howard’s more unfortunate displays of bigotry. He was more terrified of anyone who didn’t look like him than he was of cosmic horrors.
Oh sweet xenophobic Howard, change isn't as scary as you imagined it to be.
Well said, Hinzmana!
It's actually far scarier. I'm sure he never would've imagined child genital mutiliation, mass ethnic replacement, and a drugged up, hypnotized population who drool and smile while their homelands become third world hellholes ruled by literal demons.
But it is sociologically true. By the time cities have more than 500,000 plp problems start getting ignored. Then as soon as you know you get places like Detroit or Baltimore, or Skid Row, or Portland, etc.
You clearly don't understand the time in which this was written. This is not a "fear of change". Its a lament of things past and fear of specifically communist revolutions. This story was written during the Russian Civil War which saw unprecedented amounts of slaughter and Bolsheviks at this time were promising to spread this revolt world wide.
Thieves always think their thievery is good.
seems racist lol
I thought the same
