    Polyploidy is the state of a cell or organism having more than two paired (homologous) sets of chromosomes.Polyploidy or the presence of three or more sets of genomes in an organism is one of the important phenomenon commonly found in plants.
    Types of Polyploidy
    Autopolyploidy
    Autopolyploids are also referred to as autoploids. They contain multiple copies of the basic set of chromosomes of the same genome (Autoploids occur in nature through union of unreduced gametes and at times can be artificially induce. Natural autoploids include tetraploid crops such as alfafa, peanut, potato and coffee and triploid bananas. They occur spontaneously through the process of chromosome doubling. Such polyploids are induced through the treatment of diploids with mitotic inhibitors such as dinitroaniles and colchicines.
    Allopolyploidy
    Allopolyploids are also called alloploids. They are a combination of genomes from different species. They result from hybridization of two or more genomes followed by chromosome doubling or by the fusion of unreduced gametes between species.

    Dear Mam
    I would just suggestion to you, you have explain Very well but in during this presentation little bit correction behalf of me. You written n Haploid, 2n Diploid , 3n Triploid, 4n Tetraploid its wrong way to say you will never found any book written like this, You can substitute 3n, 4n, 6n etc. Actually it will be write in this formet triploid as 2n= 3x, tetraploid as 2n=4x, hexaploid 2n=6x, and otcoploid 2n=8x. In case of Cytogentics plz you should read Prof. P.K Gupta book.

      Yes you are right, but here I have given general introduction about polyploidy. For this I have referred texbook of biotechnology by Dr RC Dubey for Class XI Page no. 364

    In autopolyploidy wrong information about 3 set of chromosome is present called triaploidy not tetraploidy

      Autoploidy is a condition when there is 4 copies of each chromosome..

      No... actually one set of chromosome is Xtra by mistake maybe otherwise 2n=10 is absolutely correct 👍

    मैम,ये जो Allopolyploidy है उसमें 10 chromosome होने चाहिए लेकिन इसमें तो 12 chromosomes है और आपने 10 chromosome(2n=10) लिखा है ।
