The sound of the V12 down the back straight immediately takes me back to Le Mans in the seventies. That sound for 24 hours alone was worth the ticket price.
You should have heard the Formula 1 version of that engine, they revved higher and because the cars were lighter revved faster! Fortunately, I experienced them at all the Long Beach Grand Prix they participated in. Their distinctive sound even set them apart from the Ferrari and Alfa V-12s of that era.
yeppers, best sounding engine of all time, this track doesn't do it justice , even better on paul ricard , or magnicours with long sweeping corners they can get their teeth into..
This car holds the lap record for the original Spa Francorchamps circuit in perpetuity. Can't remember the lap time but the average speed was _over_ 262 km/h, faster than the average speed at Le Mans that year.
Indeed Mr Lime, not only do they sound great, they were fast as hell for their time, I think simca and a few other aerospace firms got behind the project, not the usual shoestring leger setup..they had real money when they did this car and it shoes.. though the chassis looks dated and a bit odd, it's actually the result of a lot of wind tunnel work and testing, and is well ahead of it's time, that blunt front end flows air amazingly through the rads, and costs nothing in drag..the rear ends are works of art..
The MS670 won 15 (and scored 16 pole positions) of the 20 races it ever entered, including 3 overall Le Mans 24h victories on the trot. And that engine also won in F1.

@@zeremius Thanks. Pescarolo, wasn't it?
@@thethirdman225 Yes, while racing. He talks about it here www.fiawec.com/fr/news/henri-pescarolo-le-recordman-de-spa-francorchamps/100

El mejor piloto que tuvo Matra. Mereció ser mas reconocido. Al mismo nivel de Jaques Villeneuve, pero mas equilibrado.
sounds like a band of a thousand trumpets to me,nice
Les personnes au micro, sans deconner ils sortent d'ou?
Sinon merci pour la vidéo!
Too bad his cars could never win the "modern" Le Mans, though they were fast as hell.
