@avigator its easier to manufacture. Take the Mercedes C-class for example. This new type of interior “design” really needs to stop especially on performance models like the 4 series. As a previous 2021+ BMW owner I welcome the new design. These things cost 100k. I am reluctant to drop another honey bun into a car and get the same set up. Time for a change and the new screen is the way to go IMO. However, I may be biased as I just received my allocation for a 24’ M4 comp.
I think big screens and small gear shifters prepare us to autonomous era. I’ve spent a few days with BMW IX. It’s not impossible to use big screens. It’s new trend etc but I would prefer clicking buttons and proper housing.
I absolutely love the older version. Makes you feel like a fighter pilot with that cluster housing. Hate the new design. Including the fact that you no longer have physical buttons for the climate control. That is another trend that needs to die along with sticking bigger and bigger ipads on dashboards.
exterior is a dependable .but interior vise i think bmw needs to rethink about their desitions.tech is needed; giant screen are tend to be trend .but its need to sync with interior design.to be honest that curve screen looks really good on regular ones.but its kill the vibe in their performance mod.
I hate the new interior setup. Every car manufacturers are just sticking a iPad like screen in the interior, what's going on? This is the reason I bought the pre-LCI M3 when the i4 comes out, knowing the iPad thing will flow into the LCI M3/M4 sooner or later.
I actually extremely disagree with the M3 looking better than the M4, particularly in person. The M3 looks almost too wide for its wheelbase in person while the M4 looks like a muscular beast
Obviously the previous interior is better, by far. The new one is incredibly mediocre. It’s just a rectangle. And thr SIZE and SHAPE of the grill is wrong. The fact that others are making bigger grills doesn’t make this one any less hideous.
Having large, vibrant displays is cool but it’s better to have the instrument display embedded into the frame behind the wheel and with overlapping elements so it doesn’t feel like a square, which is actually outdated in terms of displays - look at an iPhone or MacBook, curved edges. It would be a bit better it it was just one large display but the fact it’s separated by just a black area and these may not be OLED so it just looks bad and so 2010-2015 phone era. A big infotainment display isn’t bad but either make it one large widescreen or keep them very separate and embedded.
I definitely prefer the interior of the 2021-2023 BMW M3/M4. It just looks nicely designed and shows that the designers took their time integrating the screens neatly. The 2024 model looks like the designers slapped the screen on the dash and called it a day without any integration. Mercedes definitely does a better job of integrating the screen in the likes of the 2023 E-Class. Also, Mercedes has released photos of the all new 2024 E-Class interior. I would like you to make a video about it to hear your thoughts on the design of the interior.
The new curved display is simply great, the look of the new dashboard is clean and light. When you sit behind the steering wheel, you do not want to have the old one.
I used to think that Mercedes and Audi are such bad influences with their buttonless direction. Now, BMW is worse, even though they started doing this later, they are getting rid of buttons faster than Mercedes and Audi, whereas Mercedes and Audi would wait for the GLE, GLS, GLA, GLB, A4, A5, Q5, and Q3 to get redesigned from the ground up. Meanwhile, BMW is doing it faster because they're getting rid of buttons at the mid cycle refresh, and in fact, they did an "emergency refresh" on the 2 series coupe for the sake of removing ergonomics.
The new interior looks like crap but tech obsessed people will like it. Think BMW went for this lazy design because it's cheaper to manufacture one big screen to go in all models and sheeple will still buy
I think the removal of the housing for the gauge clusters really diminished the the flow of the interior. Adding a curved rectangle in the middle of a car is going overboard for me and just completely disrupts the flow of the dash
I've owned over 8 BMWs over the years (and currently drive an M850), I think this is coming to an end. BMW has managed to destroy their great exterior designs and now facing challenges integrating/coping with modern interior designs. BMW used to be aggressive but subtle from the front which provided a feel of "confidence" when looking at the car that I used to appreciate. Now they are trying very hard in the front and getting too lazy moving to the back. Very cold design language inside the car. I think in the wake of the Korean designs and moving to electric which closes the gap between German engineering superiority and the rest of the world, BMW and others may not survive. I haven't owned a non-german car in over 25 years and that's what I believe so imagine others who are not even biased to German engineering.
Driving a 3 series touring with the new interior and loving it. Really pleasant to use and perfectly visible turned to the driver. Very reactive and one of the best Carplay integration. Talking about cars on video is nice, driving them daily is better. Just matter of taste.
The unfortunate think is BMW seems to have a problem with rollout. none of the idrive systems can be upgraded, I bought a 23 430 xdrie gc and the car doesn't have the adaptive headlights as an option, and it's rough turning down dark roads. BMW hasn't finished rolling out idrive8 and Idrive9 is scheduled to be incorporated in the near future. Its one way to piss off your client base.

@@essidamine3434 I dont mean to offend you with this, but just because you can't see an already big screen on the old design doesn't mean a even bigger screen is beter for everyone. I see Apple Carplay just fine out of my ~7-8in screen on my e46. There are panels, contours, lines shaped around the screens that were done with purpose. And taking all that out and slapping a big screen on it is objectively lazy for the sake of looking "modern". Look at a C8 corvette interior for an extreme example of a purposely designed dash and imagine how utterly shit it would look to take all that out and put in a single screen. Sounds like you like your big screens though so, doubt you'll see the point.
I do like this curved screen in general, it looks nice in 7 series and ix, but surely it's too much for such a small car. I hope, in new generation, the idea will stay the same, or even evolve like the DEE concept, but it will look like it's in its place
I think it's the same reason why I would prefer a 330i/340i instead of a 430i/440i Coupe, it looks to soft on the sides, not at all sporty. PS The 2023 M3 already has the big screen.
I do not agree with your opinion regarding the integration of the idrive8. idrive8 and the integration thereof in BMW's interiors is architectural in nature.
One of the reasons I believe they did the front end that way is because it’s an Easter egg that they will electrify and hybridize the m4/m3 as it matches the i4 front end approach.
BMW needs to change the pig nose tot he Vorsteiner GTS-V front bumber replacement. It looks so much better. BMW is using the curve displays in all or most of their cars to save money and charge people more money...lol
A lower three quarter view angle makes M3 look worse than M4. A bit melted, like the Mercs. From a design and integration point of view, I like my Kyalami Orange 2023 M4 interior alot more than the new stuff. From a software standpoint, the new stuff is, well, newer. On the other hand, while BMW does provides software updates, they never change/improve the UI so ID8 isn't a big deal for an M driver's car.
I think the older interior looked really good, but now, with that stupid cinema sized screen that isn't integrated at all, it is just another of those unattractive and architectural interiors. Where's the emotion, the driver experience and all that? It's a shame that BMW is now making controversial looking cars because under the hood, they are really good cars.
I remember a German review about a new 3 series in the late 2000’s and they then already described BMWs design direction as a “sackgasse” (dead end street). BMW has tried to go intenser and more agressive in its existing lines and now they reached a design space time singularity where literally any shape or form seems to be possible. It’s horrible

I just got my ADRO bumper
i disagree on every point lol.. im a sucker for newest tech and i like the new interieur more , for me the m4 looks way better then the m3 aswell because of the coupe design. not a fan of sedans at all...
im a mercedes owner and i always was a fan of their digital screen cockpits, it gives me a futuristic and clean look.. analog cockpits are just dated for me and i dont want to see them at this point in a car again i personally buy...
in the end its just a matter of taste tough, not worth to debate here... it has nothing to do with emotion, i just enjoy the look and the tech, its that simple..
Totally Agree with you!
My first thought when I saw the dashboard: Cannonball! :)
I absolutely love the older version. Makes you feel like a fighter pilot with that cluster housing.
Hate the new design. Including the fact that you no longer have physical buttons for the climate control. That is another trend that needs to die along with sticking bigger and bigger ipads on dashboards.
Love the new design. I didn’t want the 2022 M4 because the interior was so outdated. Finally got one ordered now!
exterior is a dependable .but interior vise i think bmw needs to rethink about their desitions.tech is needed; giant screen are tend to be trend .but its need to sync with interior design.to be honest that curve screen looks really good on regular ones.but its kill the vibe in their performance mod.
I hate the new interior setup. Every car manufacturers are just sticking a iPad like screen in the interior, what's going on? This is the reason I bought the pre-LCI M3 when the i4 comes out, knowing the iPad thing will flow into the LCI M3/M4 sooner or later.
BMW in 2022: "What is going on with their exterior design?"
in 2023: "What is going on with their interiors?"
I actually extremely disagree with the M3 looking better than the M4, particularly in person. The M3 looks almost too wide for its wheelbase in person while the M4 looks like a muscular beast
That's why it's an option, but the M4 is a weak design just looks like melted cheese with a angry front
Obviously the previous interior is better, by far. The new one is incredibly mediocre. It’s just a rectangle. And thr SIZE and SHAPE of the grill is wrong. The fact that others are making bigger grills doesn’t make this one any less hideous.
this guy just hates to hate
The side is like the Mercedes e Coupé, just that the line is a bit lower on the bmw. It works a lot better on the Mercedes because of the smooth rear.
A big infotainment display isn’t bad but either make it one large widescreen or keep them very separate and embedded.
first thing first, the grills. second thing, the TV.
Critiquing a PC from the driver seat of a BMW would seem really out of touch for most but yet the opposite is acceptable.
The new curved display is simply great, the look of the new dashboard is clean and light. When you sit behind the steering wheel, you do not want to have the old one.
I hate that the side wall of the front to rear tiers are different
Wait where did you see that?
They knocked them carbon seats out of the park
The old design is so much better, could be amazing if it had the old analog gauges like the f80 m3
Driving a 3 series touring with the new interior and loving it. Really pleasant to use and perfectly visible turned to the driver. Very reactive and one of the best Carplay integration. Talking about cars on video is nice, driving them daily is better. Just matter of taste.
Unpopular opinion: i actually like the screens like this in the newer cars
If you ever felt usless remember this dude puts random lines on cars in his thumbnails
Next generation you will stick your smartphone on the dashboard instead.
I absolutely hate this tablet trend. It almost seems extremely lazy to not integrate the screens properly into the dash.
BMW should be based on ADRO kits the front of m3/m4
personally i love the newi nterior design , in fact a housing for cluster doesnt do it for me it just looks old
Old huh? Beautiful is the word you are searching for.
old? looks like it was designed with purpose. the new interior is cheap, lazy and fugly since it's just a rectangle placed along smooth shapes
@@eXoguti094 what purpose? the old os small screen that is placed poorly! The new bigger higher screen is easier to see especially when having to use navigation and modern looking even if you see that the design is lazy i see it beautiful
@@staLkerhu we can’t have opinions now , i meant old comparing to a Mercedes it looks old
@@essidamine3434 I dont mean to offend you with this, but just because you can't see an already big screen on the old design doesn't mean a even bigger screen is beter for everyone.
PS The 2023 M3 already has the big screen.
the new M3 Touring looks amazing.
If we dont add emotion design to products, people will not weep it for longer time.
If think this is the modern phylosopy of modern brands.
IMO, they are taking (the wrong) steps to share more parts in the interior between the petrol and EV models.
That huge media screen is unnecessary. It will date the car for sure.
Totally agree with this review. Well done
Like having an art deco villa and putting a modern front door in it that accidentally covers the windows aside. Awful!!
I do not agree with your opinion regarding the integration of the idrive8. idrive8 and the integration thereof in BMW's interiors is architectural in nature.
I believe this is becoming a trend due to android auto and apple carplay implementing their own gauge cluster that will take over the entire display
the newer one is cleaner and better IMO.. I drive an i4 (similar interior) and I love that scrn
I'm agree with you. You say true.
I think they are preparing their car for the new apple CarPlay
They need to stop that non integrated dashes!
man… if i ever get a chance to design a bmw m3/m4, i would make the current design team at bmw look like talentless clowns.
At least the screen is next to the instruments and not like the one from Mercedes almsot down in the footwell haha
It means that mercedes is better at creating bad designs.
Not sure if that is the place bmw wants to be
The side of the M4 looks too plain and too thick
Like me
Not the big azz tv as dashboard SMH
I prefer the idrive 7 all the way,
I think the older interior looked really good, but now, with that stupid cinema sized screen that isn't integrated at all, it is just another of those unattractive and architectural interiors. Where's the emotion, the driver experience and all that?
It's a shame that BMW is now making controversial looking cars because under the hood, they are really good cars.
BMW is lazy now, remember when E series BMW's all had specific M steering wheel just for them? Yeah, now we have copy/paste for every model
BMW's car design died around 2005 man.
Are you saying that the 5 or 8 series is ugly? They are a million times prettier than any boring audi or pokamon lexus.
Totalmente de acuerdo con tu opinión, like 😢
