Love these trips in the way back machine Fred. I was a whole year old at the time, so I don't remember any of these except bachelor father from reruns. 👍👍👍
Great era of television I just missed being born in 1965. But funny how many of my favorite shows are prior to my birth. The western was once the dominant genre - a shame we lost that.
I love your 70's stuff, but THIS is my favorite time period! I especially loved the fonts used on these shows. Signed in your grandmother's hand writing (or at least my grandmother's) hand writing as Charles Phoenix says. A time period where people pronounced the "h" in "white" or "while" instead of saying "AF" "BFF" or "OG". Thanks again for bring this world (back) to us!
Being old has some advantages. I was eleven in 1961 and remember a lot of these clips. Room for one more was a great family show unlike the ones today. Also liked Pete and Gladys. Thank you Fred for the 60's clips.❤
Sometimes it is a bittersweet pill to take seeing these things from the past remembering happy times with the ones you loved and now most are gone. Keep up the good work and I'll keep taking my pills.
I was born in December of 1961. Not exactly sure how many (if any) of these shows were televised in my area of Western Canada. I’m curious about 87th. Precinct. Looks interesting. Especially seeing Norman Fell as a detective. He probably had a nice pension to fall back on years later when he and his wife were landlords in California!!😀Thanks again Fred for another wonderful segment! All the best from John in Calgary!
Thank u Fred! Enjoyed that one! A bit before my time but love to see what came before me and some of the stars very young....I'd never seen Norman Fell with anything but gray hair until this video! LoL!😊😂❤
Bronco,Bronco. I haven't heard that song since I was less than 10. Saturday morning before the bugs bunny show 7am WTBW Florence S.C. wow my memory is good. Fred, thank you!
Some actors and actresses here later went on to much greater fame, such as Father of the Bride co-star Burt Metcalfe, who went on to be one of the writers on M*A*S*H, and some others' fame is due to less auspicious circumstances. For example, Gregory Walcott of 87th Precinct was the hero in Ed Wood's Plan 9 from Outer Space. Calvin & the Colonel was merely an animated remake of Amos n' Andy, starring the original radio voices of that show. The Marquis Chimps starred in a series of classic TV commercials for Red Rose tea after The Hathaways was cancelled. Their most famous commercial is here on RUclips.
Notice that the Marquis Chimps were wearing checkerboard patterned clothes in the opening? Not quite a coincidence since the sponsor was Ralston Purina.
I was born in ‘62, but I know some of these actors from later shows and reruns. Burt Metcalfe, Harry Morgan, Normal Fell, Gregory Walcott and Dick Powell specifically.
Another great compilation Fred. Some of these shows rate high today. I liked Frontier Circus, for instance. It scores 8.1 on IMDB which by no means is low. Unfortunately it aired just 61 and 62. As a side note, James Whitmore appeared in a Twilight Zone episode titled On Thursday we leave for home. For those who haven't viewed it it's worth a look. Btw it scores 8.1 on IMDB also. Thank you Fred for opening another wonderful window to the past. 💯👏👌👍
I remember many of these shows being on but never got to watch most of them. My dad was in total control of the TV and the only thing allowed to be on if he was in the house was westerns, war or cop shows. The man was serious as a heart attack and did not like to laugh or even smile so anything resembling a comedy was out of the question. Fortunately for us kids he worked on Saturdays so we got free reign of the TV until he got home.
Hi, Fred: I don't remember very many of these but I have a pretty clear memory of The Roaring Twenties and Surf Side Six. My eyes were closing when the last one came on and I thought, who is 'Grumpo" but it was 'Bronco'.
Wow! Thank you so much Fred! Deserves an academy award for all you add to YT! BTW - Fred Astaire IS the first person I think of when I think of aluminum.
It's interesting that they had another show called "Margie" in the 60s right after having "My Little Margie" in the 50s! It's mostly overlooked in Harry Morgan's career on television his starring in Pete and Gladys - spinoff of December Bride. Most just list Dragnet and MASH! I didn't know Margarita Sierra was on Surfside Six! If you want a good chuckle, look up her song "Let's do the Chacha Twist"! Haha!
Nice job, Fred! 0:45 - It would've been nice for Sammee Tong & Noreen Corcoran to share a name credit there. Maybe back then John Forsythe had it in his contract that only he got an opening credit. 3:05 - Robert Lansing always looked so serious, someone suggested a game to detect whenever he smiled during TWELVE O'CLOCK HIGH. I think he did a few times. Norman Fell played Meyer Meyer, who was probably comic relief. 4:25 - Burt Metcalfe, who played the groom on this series, later became the main producer of MASH. 5:20 - I understand that THE HATHAWAYS was so disliked that it couldn't get a sponsor so had to be sponsored by ABC itself at times. I guess the commercial breaks were all ABC promos. 6:05 - ICHABOD & ME also included Jerry Mathers' younger brother Jimmy, who looked & sounded a lot like his brother. 8:45 - Marion Ross had a very early role on this series as Mrs. G's grown daughter. 10:58 - I saw an episode of this online a few months back where Gale Gordon made a guest appearance and wondered if he or Harry Morgan would be the straight man, since they both did a slow burn so well. Pete stayed the straight man, as Gordon's character & Gladys reverted to infancy probably due to hypnosis. 15:03 - Nice guest cast list here! "The Skipper", "Batgirl", and "Otis Campbell" as the Bartender. :)
I read some of the 87th Precinct series by Ed McBain. If I remember right Meyer Meyer was a serious character whom you didn't want to get on the bad side of.
Nice nostalgia trip, Fred. The placing of the western mountains at 5:52 is weird. The people who made that drawing were either utterly clueless about where the Rocky Mountains are, or they ignored them completely. I've heard of Surfside 6, and Window on Main Street, but have never seen them. I've seen Bachelor Father. Never heard of the others.
Fred! You've forgotten the 1961 premieres of Dr. Kildare (NBC Thurs. 8:30 p.m.) and Ben Casey (ABC Mon. 10:00 p.m.). I'll forgive you 'cause I love your site. 🥰
Hmm, never saw any episodes of "The 87th Precinct", in fact, I"ve never even heard about this show until now, but I'm certain I'd like the 12th Precinct in NY better. The whole gang of detectives serving under Barney Miller looks like a lot more fun to me.
Ichabod and Me was one of 2 shows created by JaMco (a company run by Jack Benny & Mary Livingstone), the other show was Checkmate, both produced by Universal TV. Just a historical note, FredFlix. 🦉
Love these trips in the way back machine Fred. I was a whole year old at the time, so I don't remember any of these except bachelor father from reruns. 👍👍👍
And most didn't have staying power in the public consciousness in the forms of reruns and DVD sets. (Which is why I put them on this video.)
Nice surprise for Saturday morning! Thank you😊
You're welcome, Jan.
Damn Fred where did you dig these up? I could not remember too many besides Surfside 6.
I forgot many myself in the research.
Great era of television I just missed being born in 1965. But funny how many of my favorite shows are prior to my birth. The western was once the dominant genre - a shame we lost that.
You know Fred, sometimes these old shows I've never heard of are so intriguing that I have to search RUclips for them and watch an episode or two.

You're welcome, John. Fell also played a cop in Dan August in '70.
BRONCO BRONCO sorry it's stuck in my head now
Leslie Nielsen and Peter Fonda looking mighty young in The New Breed.
Thank u Fred! Enjoyed that one! A bit before my time but love to see what came before me and some of the stars very young....I'd never seen Norman Fell with anything but gray hair until this video! LoL!😊😂❤
When I was but a gleam in my Daddy's eye. 😂
Omg, I was 4 years old back then, thanks for all of the memories 😊
Bronco,Bronco. I haven't heard that song since I was less than 10. Saturday morning before the bugs bunny show 7am WTBW Florence S.C. wow my memory is good. Fred, thank you!
You're welcome, YI. I'm from SC as well.
I was still 4 years away from being born....but my mother was 17. 🥹 RIP, Mom. ❤
My Husband and I were singing and clapping along to the theme from "Bronco" hahaha thank you Fred, that was a fun video!
It was catchy, wasn't it?
@@FredFlix Why yes it was
Peter Mark Richman was starring in a TV series way back in 1961? Wow. I had assumed he was just one of those "King of the Guest Stars" in the 1970's.
Thanks, Fred!
Keep ‘em coming!
Back then I couldn’t wait for the Avengers, and Honey West. Not for the girls, but for the Lotus, and the Cobra.
I went back and looked. Back then I didn’t realize Anne Francis, and Dianna Rigg were such beauties. I only had eyes for the Lotus, and the Cobra.
I would love to have the 61 Chrysler convertible on the Bachelor Father show.
Thanks Fred 😊
You're welcome, Gary.
Very interesting.
I enjoyed this very much. Thanks.
You're welcome, rtt.
Cynthia Pepper still going at 83..
Wow Fred you came up with some obscure shows on this video I'm 72 and I've never heard of most of these shows

Sure thing, jbaker. The TZ episode you mentioned is by far the best hour-long episode and one of my favorites.
@@FredFlix I wholeheartedly agree.

Don't we all, David?
Nicely done Fred!
Thanks, Larry.
Anthology shows were the best entertainment!
Boy, Robert Culp got a lot of Starring Roles until he got his own show, “I Spy.” He was also wrote TV scripts for shows like “The Rifleman.”
He starred in a series prior to I Spy: Trackdown
Hey, I'm here. 🙋🏽♀️
The Dick Powell Show, Expedition! , The Roaring 20's and Pinky Pinkham dancing, Surfside 6 (Cha cha cha... cha!) *and* Bronco's theme (that percussion). Sorry I'm late. 💜🤟
You're always timely, Mercedes.
@@FredFlix🤗 💜🤟
EXCELLENT, as usual !!!
Thanks, Nunetc.

As mentioned, Ralston Purina bought time, as did Polaroid (I've seen a commercial from it with Peggy Cass)

👏👏👏
Not a lot of these shows became classics.
Interesting to see. This TV season seems quite meager Better stuff was on the way.
Is there a show that Robert Culp wasn't in ?

i was a baby then
The Hathaways!
All black and white. Color did not start until '66 I think.
There were some color shows, such as Bonanza (1959).
👍🎞
Where are the shows featuring African Americans?
Ha ha that's funny
From deep within the archives. Wow. And dig that Goodyear ad featuring a B-58 Hustler!
