I consider diving off a bodyboard akin to being towed into a wave...paddle in VS tow in...Terry self powered on the biggest on a regular basis and was extremely consistent & humble about it...he will always be #1 on my list of the World's Best Big Wave Bodysurfers...PERIOD!!!
I was amazed how much speed he generated on his takeoffs and I think that was a good reason why he could take a high line right away, I was right next to him when he did this on a very big wave and saw him cutting across the wave so early, he must of had really strong legs.
Were are the last 2 boogies out that late afternoon mid jan 83, who's girlfriends had to go to work and asked me to tell them it was time to go in.. I mean nobody likes crowds and going over the falls from the top of a 5 story building in your 80's nut huggers and orange duck feet is when you really need your alone time..

Just of the top Id say this day had 5ft if not more on this wave.. Wade was known for going after the set waves. He was fast. He had huge legs to propel him forward, like Greg Deets.
