This song was a sleeper for me. I felt like you did on my first hearing, but I just couldn't get it out of my head. It just grew on me and now I absolutely love it.
For this project Hansi DID all his best, like it was in 2000th with two albums, like in this one.Entire album full of his amazing vocal changes and mix ups. You should listen to all songs.I think even in Blind Guardian Hansi doing less vocal work compare to Demons & Wizards. Listen to full albums, there is a lot of power and energy and dark atmosphere songs
I will say it for you... I love the song! I heard it 100x since it came out. I love absolutely everything about Hansi wasnt holding back, he was singing this song. He doesnt sound on every Blind Guardian the same as well. It would be very repetitive. I know Demons And Wizards and he has done crazy things there. Since I am huge fan of Iced Earth this is a xmas, holiday, vacation, birthday and sex in one! :D
Hansi's vocals have "mellowed out" over the years, he sings with a more clean and higher tone now than he used to. Back in the 90's he had that heavy distortion which he rarely uses these days.
Hansi uses a cleaner tone in Demons and Wizards in general, the low growls in this song when he says Rise again, rise again are also his vocals. This record is pretty much a showcase for his wide vocal range. Timeless Spirit and Split are really good tracks from this album if you love Hansi's voice, Midas Disease is probably his more harsh singing in Demons and Wizards. If You want his more aggressive side anything from the album Imagination from the other side by Blind Guardian is good. In Demons and Wizards, My last Sunrise, Fiddler On The Green, Crimson King, Love's Tragedy Asunder, Gunslinger, Heaven Denies are great vocal showcases of him.
This son actually become better the more we list, i think the problem is where we expect something and get another, still good anyway, the entire album is awesome.
Right there with you on this one, dude. Awesome video, interesting lyrical content and lots of room for discussion about them, and definitely loved the drumming. It was good to me in the sense that it appealed to something inside that I enjoyed a lot more from the past. Specifically, I was reminded of Judas Priest "battle hymn / one shot at glory". I haven't heard that song in forever but, it immediately sprung to mind when listening to this. I was thinking the song is rather generic, honestly and that is because I realized I have heard others like it. Still good enough to jam to though. Solid rating, good call and does warrant further investigation. Never apologize for talking in depth. When it comes out coherently and understandable, it isn't rambling. My old ass rambles; you're good to go. Rock on!
I agree with you. In this song, Hansi's voice is not in his best. From the same band, try the song "Heaven Denies". Is the first song from the first album.
Demons & Wizards - Blood On My Hands, Fiddler On The Green or Heaven Denies. All solid songs off their first album. Their recent stuff (so far) doesn't hold a candle to their first two albums.

It really depends of the song. In Midas Disease he sings with a lot of distortion.
