Got the 21 inch today. Wanted the 30 but couldn’t get one. 30 would have been nice but my yard isn’t huge. Used it already and it cuts great. I take care of what I own. I expect this mower will last many years. I see people griping about the front wheel height adjustments. I have no issue with this but I’m not going to constantly adjust the cutting height. It is pricy but so are the others.
I'm an Exmark guy. Have bought a brand new 48 Vantage, 3 x Commercial 30s and a couple 21s over the last few years. Even have the slice seeder and aerator. The new 30 with the Kohler is a disappointment. More powerful than the Kawasaki yes. But it will wear you out if you use it several times per day specially on hilly or obstacle ridden terrain. The version with the Kawasaki is borderline too heavy for many to use for extended periods. The Kohler version with parking brake and upgraded transmission must have been designed by engineers and not tested by end users. I paid $3,400 plus tax for the Kohler version and feel it was not worth the money.
I have a question. I like the Exmark with the GCV160 Honda engine. I want to know if you guys have the Brake Clutch control on one of those models so they don't shut off once you let go of the throttle. I have a dealer who sells them but not with the brake clutch control
Hello - We currently offer a Honda GXV160 engine option for our Commercial 21 X-Series mower. It does feature a Blade Brake Clutch that enables the operator to disengage the blades without shutting down the engine. Model number is ECX160CHN21000. Thanks!
I have been considering a Scag 21 inch. Why should I buy an Exmark 21 inch instead of a Scag. Serious question. Is there an advantage to buying Exmark over Scag 21 inch mower?
Hello - thanks for the message. The main differences you will see with these two machines are the height-of-cut mechanisms and the deck construction. We moved away from the spring loaded HOC system used on the Scag due to the springs failing in the field. Our decks are cast aluminum instead of stamped steel, which is stronger and lighter. You will see a difference of 15-20lbs curb weight. We also have been perfecting the design of the Commercial 21 for over 15 years. There is a tremendous amount of field-testing and engineering that has gone into this machine.
Hi Joe- The Commercial 30 has 2 blade options: high-lift notched blades (part # 116-6358) and low-lift (part # 120-9500). There is also a mulch kit available (part # 116-8841). Parts can be purchased at your local dealer or online at www.parts.exmark.com. Thanks!
OK, what's the difference between an Exmark and Toro commercial 21" and 30" mowers? Are they identical with different branding or is there something else here?
Hi Mark- thanks for the comment. There are many differences between the 21" Toro and Exmark models, as really the only similarity is the bail design on some units and the engine choices. They look similar from afar, but the decks, wheels, transmissions and height-of-cut mechanism are all different. On the 30", the chassis of the machine itself and the engines and transmissions are the same. However, the handles, deck and chassis bracing, wheels/tires, and height of cut mechanisms are different between the two brands. Thanks!
21 and 30” are garbage I rather get a $200 mower from Home Depot The dealer said that they are not made to mow during rainy season. I told him that we get 6 months of rain here in Seattle This is after I purchase 6 commercial 21 I’m going back to Honda and not looking back !!
@@ExmarkManufacturing I have owned Toro equipment in the past, doesn't hold a candle to Honda. Exmark, unfortunately, is Toro with a few changes in design. I mean, 21" commercial mowers should not have belts as Honda has made at least one model of commercial mower over the years that uses a shaft driven hydrostatic transmission instead of the "riding the clutch" slipping belt design you and your parent company have been using over the past few decades. Also, direct-drive blade brake clutches should be a thing on 21" commercial mowers too. Honda has had its Roto-Stop system implemented even on its mid-range lineup for over 40 years as well. If I want a 30" mower, I would consider Scag or Cub Cadet as options over the timed deck disaster used on the Toro/Exmark Time Waster design.
Snapper and Craftsman? yes. Honda? No. I can still out mow Toro or Exmark with very little maintenance and consumables with an old HR214 as well as my HRC216 and HRX217. Also, looking at the number of RUclipsrs saying they switched back to Honda after owning Toro or Exmark shows there's something wrong here. Also, I would look into getting a Scag 30" as it doesn't have the headaches of the Toro/Exmark Timewaster.
The people that mow my lawn use this mower, and it delivers, my lawn looks perfect
I've used exmark mowers for 25 years.
Thanks for the video.
2:55 whether you get the 21 inch deck or not, you can get your mower with confidence.

Hi Chuck - thanks for the message. The Commercial 21 is designed for mulching or bagging. It is not able to side-discharge. Thanks!
