  • Freediving the USAT Liberty wreck in Bali, Indonesia. The wreck is one of the most easily accessible in the world, situated meters off the eastern coast of Bali in 30m of water. Some parts of the wreck are as shallow as 5m.
The wreck is a popular dive site with scuba divers, freedivers and snorkelers.
On 11th January 1942, the Liberty was torpedoed by a Japanese Submarine while passing through the Lombok Strait. The wreck was taken under tow by an American ship, however it was taking in too much water and was purposely beached a Tulamben to save the supplies. In 1963, tremors from the volcano Mt Agung caused the ship to slip down into the water where it sits today.
