In the early and mid 1980s, two TV shows named "Saare Dost Humarey" and then "Sang Sang Chalein..." were everyone's favourites.
Their national songs took the whole nation by storm and are still remembered by many.
With music directed by Mr. Sohail Rana, one of the main highlights of the shows were "Mona Sisters". Led by Mona Mukhtar (now Mona Atif), the trio also included Lubna and Samreen.
This video collage, made and edited from their original classic videos is a nostalgic tribute to the innocence, simplicity and genuine culture of the era that once existed in our society. It also features the most recent video by Ms. Mona Atif after a hiatus of more than three decades.

Nostalgic, we used to envy these children. For us they were the chosen ones as they had the opportunity to participate in 'saray dost hamaray'. And Ms Mona's voice is more melodious than ever. Though she was the star of the show, still I would like to see others as well, esp her sisters. Hope to hear more from you.

Chapter of "Pakistani National Songs" remains incomplete, actually hollow, if the music work of Sohail Rana is not counted. He created immortal compositions, he set trends, he set standards, he actually started a whole era. He deserves recognition... a very big recognition from the whole nation. Salute to him!
Ok, serious suggestion, Coke Studio needs to pick these and other old gems from Sohail Rana times and re-do with these singers too.....just because the kids have grown up and don't live in Pakistan but they left well cherished memories and can make more....

Most beautiful and so soft voice. This was when I was very young may be in class 5 or 6. With my other brothers and sisters we used to sing. Most of the children now a days don’t even have such a childhood. I am delighted to see her. May Allah bless her in every step of her life. Ameen
